AP test registration begins on
Monday, February 25, and will close
on Friday, March 1st (5 PM). The
registration process will be completed
entirely online, and there will be no
late registration or refunds. You
should have received an informational
parent letter from your AP teacher. If
you did not, please ask your AP
teacher for a copy. LISD does pay for
several core subject exams, but not all
of them. The cost of AP exams is $94,
or $15 if you are approved for
free/reduced lunch. (The AP Seminar
exam is $142). If you are unsure about
your free/reduced lunch status, or
have further AP exam registration
questions, please contact Melissa
Grimes at
www.totalregistration.net/AP/444360
Seniors, if you enlist in the armed forces, please bring a copy of your enlistment
paperwork to the counseling office.
Likewise, if you receive a scholarship offer, bring documentation of that offer to
your counselor. We would like documentation of ALL offers, even those that you
do not plan to accept.
South Plains College has several courses available for dual credit this
summer. These courses are online and include
US Government and Economics, (unweighted).
Please see your counselor for more information
regarding registration requirements.
Summer is fast approaching! Students, if you need a letter
of recommendation for camps or internships, remember to
give your teacher/counselor plenty of notice, (minimum of
two weeks). Use the Gold Packet to start that process:
https://www.lubbockisd.org/Page/8976
Please note that teachers/counselors do not write letters
over school holidays. Ensure that your two week window
allows time for such breaks.
College Admission Tip:
Your high school counselor
specializes in knowing the ins & outs
of high school graduation
requirements & general college
admission advice. Did you know that
most colleges and universities have their own
admission counselors?
These counselors, often called admission advisors, are
incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to their
school’s specific admission requirements, procedures,
etc. You can locate your prospective college’s
advisor via their website.

Denied Admittance to Texas Tech?
If you were denied admittance to Texas Tech, you might consider researching the Tech Transfer Acceleration Program, or TTAP. This program allows eligible applicants to attend classes at TTU the Fall of their freshman year, but their classes are taught by SPC professors. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA for the semester, and meet a few additional requirements. If all of these requirements are met, the student is then eligible to transfer into TTU for the Spring of their freshman year. You can find more information about that program here:
