Every year we hold the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) which gives

achievement by an external testing body.

These tests are held at school and are supervised by teachers. The tests are provided by the University

of N.S.W. and when completed are also marked by ICAS. All students receive a certificate and an

individual student report.

If you would like your child to participate in all or any of the tests, further details are available on

VOCABULARY PARADE DRESS UP DAY

Towards the end of term, for the very first time, Lucknow will be hosting a Vocabulary Parade!

The Vocabulary Parade is part of our ongoing effort to increase word recognition and use among our

students. The parade concept is based on Debra Frasier’s book, Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster.

We are encouraging students (and parents) to be creative and come up with an interesting word to

dress as for the Vocabulary Parade. Over the next few weeks we will include some word suggestions

with the newsletter and some photo examples.

NATIONAL CHAMPION

A huge congratulations to Corbin Blake who recently

completed in the National Swimming Championships at the

Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Corbin placed 7th in the 50m Butterfly and 10th in the 100m

Freestyle events. Corbin also competed in the Freestyle and

medley and placed 6th in both events.

We are so proud to have a Lucknow Primary School student

representing our country in swimming. This is certainly

another amazing achievement for Corbin.

“On the 31st of July I had swimming Nationals that went for

three days. On the first day was the 50-metre butterfly. I

made the final (which is out of the top ten) and came 7th in

a time of 33.61.

The next day was 100-metre freestyle, butterfly and 200

individual medley. I made the final of the freestyle and I

came 10th.

I had a good time and look forward to next year in

Brisbane.

Thank you to all of the officials and everyone who made it

happen and to my mum for driving me everywhere.”

Written by Corbin Blake.
