"Leading, Learning, and Growing...TOGETHER" April 2019
Dear Green Gables Families,
Jeffco was fortunate to have passed the bond request with voters in
November, as this is a big step in helping to improve our school buildings
across the district. As you may know Green Gables, assigned bond scope
includes a significant renovation, including but not limited to, an interior
remodel. The graphic on the following page will show the major
improvements the bond will bring to Green Gables.
The timeline for this bond scope will actually begin this summer. It will
begin with the removal of our two temporary buildings near the
playground, as well as a much-needed new roof. During this time, there
may be limited access to the baseball fields and playground.
The remainder of the bond schedule identifies the full renovation project
starting in January 2020 and ending in August 2022, as the work will be
accomplished during the summer months while students and staff are not
in school. The first part of the schedule in January 2020 will include the
design phase. The Architect will look at all options available for the
resolution of the categories identified in the bond improvement list,
including lighting and natural light. I will be sure to keep our school
community informed as I gain more information and please reach out to
me with any questions you may have in the meantime.
As we approach the last several weeks of school, let’s help our
students finish strong and continue to go for the GOLD.
Happy April!
Warm Regards,
Suanne Hawley
Green Gables Principal

medications
Guidelines:
MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION GUIDELINES
The process for administering medication (prescription and non-prescription) to
students has been updated. Parents must provide a medication order signed by
their healthcare provider if their student has a condition that will require
administration of any medication (prescription or non-prescription including
Tylenol). Parents are asked to provide medication along with the appropriately
signed medication form which can be readily accessed on our Health Services
website at http://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/health/medication.html. Once
received, a nurse may delegate administration of either a prescription or over-
the-counter medication, based on the healthcare provider’s order.
Please contact your school’s clinic aide or the Health Services Department at
303-982-7251 should you have any questions.
*All over the counter medications such as cough drops and Tylenol
will need a medication form filled out by your physician.
Immunizations:
Please remember to bring in your child’s updated immunization records to the
office. If your child is exempt from immunizations an exemption form must be
signed yearly. This form may be found in the office.

Meet our Cafeteria Staff
Meet our Facilities Manager
Hi, my name is Jason Monson. I am the
Facility Manger at Green Gables. I was born
and raised in Colorado. My favorite hobby is
fishing. I enjoy going to the Granby
Reservoir in the early spring to fish. I like to
work out at the gym any chance I can get.
My favorite vacation spot is the Flat Top
Wilderness area in Steamboat Springs.
Hello, my name is Cynthia Marshall and I
have been the Kitchen Manager here at
Green Gables for 6 years. I enjoy working
here; the children are good kids and make
me smile every day. I cannot wait to get
back to school after summer breaks to see
them all.
My husband, Martin, and I moved here in
March 1983. We had our daughter, Rachel, in March 1984 and our son,
Nicholas in 1991. Rachel is a para-legal, married in June of 2011 and 6
years later gave me a grandson, Ryker. Ryker will 2 years old on April
15th of this year. My son is still in school at CU Denver to become a
computer engineer and is learning investment banking on the side.
When I am not working, I spend my time with my grandson. His daycare
center is teaching him sign language, so I am learning it too. He is
talking, but we cannot make sense of what he is saying, so this helps us
communicate
Hi, my name is Jan Tierney; I have been with Green Gables for 2 years
with food service. I have 2 sons, 3 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. I
have come full circle with Green Gables, my sons went here starting in
1971. Prior to retiring, I worked for a software company for 17 years.
I enjoy watching the Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. I also like
NASCAR and NHRA drag raising. In the summer time, I enjoy working
in my yard and garden. I also like reading a good mystery book. I enjoy
working and serving the students and co-workers at Green Gables.
