Lucy and Her Locust FriendsA true story of sharing!

Little Lucy Lou is a dear gray kitten that my life has been blessed with. She was found on New Year's Eve of this year, during a bad snow storm. A real miracle she reminds me everyday how awesome my life really is.

Little Lucy has a very giving personally. Recently returning home from the hospital after having my appendix out, I learned how giving she really was. Lucy is

still a kitten and am always amazed at the different personalities she is growing into. One is the way she vocally expresses herself. I love to respond to her meows and converse with her. A little game we play with each other that canlast several minutes at a time.

The first morning after my hospital stay, Lucy woke me about five am, like she does every morning wanting to be feed. She taps me on the forehead or nose withher little paw until I give in and get up. Then I open my window and she goes o

ut to explore in the early morning hours after her breakfast. I then return tomy warm bed for a couple more hours of shut eye. Lucy will pop in and out until I get up for my coffee. Always very quiet she waits till am up and moving,

before she tells me about her adventures of the morning.

On this particular morning, I had fallen back into a sound sleep. I can remember my senses awaken by a load strong clicking noise. With my eyes still closed, my conscious thoughts was stirring and I realized this sound should not be this loud, nor in my bedroom. I must be dreaming.

Opening one eye there was Lucy with the biggest locust I ever saw in her mouth, about four inches from my nose and she drops it on my pillow. I can't believehow big and loud this creature is right in front of my face. Coming out of bedin one swift movement to my feet, the angry locust tried to take flight, only for Lucy to swat it back down under her paw. I immediately can see her puzzlement for my response in her green eyes. With a soft meow to say here mom, look what

I caught for you. I yelped, "Lucy, no!"

Catching my breath and my senses, all I wanted to do was throw this ugly creature out. The thought of touching this bug made my skin crawl. The noise this bug

was making shook the walls. So finding a napkin I tried to take the locust fromLucy's paw and tossed it out the window with Lucy verbally letting me know she

wasn't please with my response and she flies out the window right behind the locust.

Being totally freaked out I tried to return to bed. Within minutes she now hasreturned with another locust and releases this one on the floor in my poorly litbedroom. She is pouncing joyfully around my room while this crazed locust t

ries to escape. So like before, I throw the clicking noise maker out the window and Lucy follows running off with a set meows that was obvious she was not happy. Within minutes she was back again with another locust and this happen several times before I finally gave up and let her alone.

After a week or so, I just ignore her locust friends and covered my head with mypillow. I thought, as long as she doesn't put the bug in my bed she can play w

ith it in my room. I had gotten use to the clicking noise and I realize not alllocusts was super clickers. I will throw the creature out after Lucy got bored

with it.

Then recently waking to my morning coffee, there was Lucy with a strange look inher eyes. I can swear she was actually grinning. With a couple soft meows I kne

w something was not right. Within seconds I came to realize not only did I haveone locust, but I had five in my room. Lucy had caught them for us to play wit

h. I realize she had waited patiently for me to wake and she had gather as manyof her locust friends she could and was thrilled to share her new friends with

me. How she kept all of the clicking bugs to a minimum sound until I woke, I will never know.

Laughing at my silly girl, I hugged her, gave her a big kiss and a special thankyou for her gifts and we both set our new friends free. Weeks later, my bedroo

m is locust free.

Lucy was showing me her way of saying, I love you. By sharing with me what brings her most joy. What a special gift to share with someone you love, something that brings you joy.Life is my Inspiration and Word is my Life
