The Kardashians’ rise to fame has been fast and furi-ous. The family has steadily risen to the top of the

reality TV game, and they’re not giving up their crown without a fight. Cynics may well chart the clan’s notority back to a certain Kardashian’s sex

tape hitting the internet back when she was just the daughter of a well known Armenian lawyer. Yet it is the business savvy of matriarch ,Kris, that has made the biggest impact on pop culture, both sides of the Atlantic. She was the mastermind behind the birth of the family’s reality TV show in 2007, which, to date,

has run for 7 series.

It’s hard to know exactly what makes the Kardashi-ans such compulsive viewing. Women covet the hair and makeup (H&M to a real fan, or Dash Doll), and designer wardrobes of the three eldest sisters, for sure. Perhaps they identify with the relationship

struggles that just about every member of the family has strugled with on screen (save the youngest two Jenner girls). Maybe it’s the sharp humour of Khloe, or the drunken antics of only son Robert Kardashian Jr and Kourtney’s partner Scott. Then there’s star of the show Mason, and new addition to the fam-

ily, Penelope, who bring the aaaah! factor. The show seems to cover all bases, and reflets the dynamics of a busy house full of family. They scream, shout and fight, but ultimately this tight knit family will al-

ways fiercely protect their own. It’s just that they’re getting paid for it.
