Luis Garza, MD, PhD Luis Garza, MD, PhD. Dr. Luis Garza is an Associate Professor of Dermatology with secondary appointments in Cell Biology and Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He did his undergraduate work at Cornell University, followed by an MD-PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in the lab of George Cotsarelis at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Garza’s clinic practice focuses on hair disorders and wounds. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Garza runs a molecular biology laboratory that studies skin stem cells and wound healing with an emphasis on identifying the next generation of wound therapeutics and diagnostics. His lab is funded by the NIH, the DoD, the Maryland State Stem Cell Fund, and Foundations. Dr. Garza is an associate editor for the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology and the North American Clinical Dermatology Society. He served as a resident-fellow representative on the Board of the SID and hopes to contribute more as a candidate Board Member.
