• A portrayal of God’s fathering. • Focus was NOT on what
happened to the Lost Son...• But on what the Father did!
Is he a good father?
1. Full of Generosity – V12 Known to his sons as such. – “Wisdom of the Righteous” –
knows when to let go. – V22-23 Reflected in
forgiveness. – V31 Philosophy of generosity.– Marked by richness, love,
overflow.
Is he a good father?
2. Full of Goodness – V12 no resentment; no
favouritism. – V13 tolerant, confident– if you
have trained them good early in life.
– V20 welcoming, affirming. Quick to forgive, slow to anger.
– V23-24 Willing to do what is hard – to forgive and to celebrate.
– V28 Reconciler, peacemaker, healer of hearts.
Is he a good father?
3. Full of Grace – V20 About abundant Compassion
not Condemnation – There must be a way to comeback!
– V22 Blessing the unworthy, restoring to former state!
– V23-24, 32 Celebrating without fear of disappointment. “..dead but alive again, lost but is found”
– V30-32 All the loss is charged to him.. Grace justifies, grace explains.
Is he a good father?

evil.• Grace that forgives &
restores.
