LUMC Places large order for several MVE1841 and MVE1536 vessels

The Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (University Medical Centre) has placed a large order for ‘dry gas phase ‘storage vessels with Cryo Solutions BV. The order comprises of a combination of large vessels of the MVE1841 “wide neck” type and also the “high efficiency” MVE1536 HE Eterne series. In this way they found just the right combination between the highest possible storage capacity per square meter footprint, the lowest Nitrogen consumption and quick and easy access to their racks. The MVE1841 is equipped with our watertight storage frame with partitions (one per rack) and the MVE1536 has an internal turntable. Both types of vessel are of course equipped with the new CryoFill with ‘gas bypass’ and ‘defog’ functions.

UCB Buys Planer CRF560 + CS100SK

UCB Pharma in Belgium have had such good experiences with Cryo Solutions in the past that they have decided to purchase a Planer controlled rate freezer type 560.10 with a 100L liquid Nitrogen pressure tank (type CS100SK). The set up of this equipment will be done with an installation IQ and ope-ration OQ quality check and of course annual maintenance and a 24H back-up is provided.

Cryo Solutions at the ‘Labtechnology 2014’exhibition

This year’s Labtechnology exhibition in the Netherlands was once again a great success for Cryo Solutions. The exhibi-tion took place in the Jaarbeurs exhibition complex in Utrecht and during the exhibition we presented the new IVF storage vessel, the MVE816, and the new CryoFill controller.

In the past the IVF centre of the VUMC University Medical Centre has bought several of the special “dry gas phase” straw storage MVE816 2T vessels from Cryo Solutions. Now, the idea was to modify their cryobank and to improve the way they were working with liquid nitrogen - and for that reason the contacted us. The modification consists of several items: first they purchased two 400L liquid Nitrogen pressure tanks - which can be filled from the outside via a filling box mounted on the wall. Both 400L tanks are connected to a switchover device, so when tank 1 is empty it automatically switches to tank 2. This whole is connected to vacuum insulated piping to which the MVE816 vessels are connected for their N2 supply. The cryobank is also equipped with a ‘degas’ system, a manual discharge via a “deadman’s” button, O2 detection and semi-automatic filling of the pressure tanks for their Planer 360 controlled rate freezers.

As an addition to all the vessels they purchased over the past years, the stem cell laboratory at Sanquin bought a new MVE “wide neck” biological storage vessel with the Cryo Solutions “dry gas phase” inventory storage system. This inventory system consists of a watertight frame with partitions for the racks which enables quick and easy access to the racks with blood bags when retrieving them.

WUR project ASG and moving samplesCryo Solutions has been chosen by Wageningen University to build a new cryogenic installation for their Animal Sciences Group. This department is moving from Lelystad to Wageningen and therefore needed a complete new cryobank.

As a result of all their good work done in the past it was an easy choice for the WUR to award the project to Cryo Solutions BV; additionally Cryo Solutions can do the whole project turnkey for them. The project has the following components: vacuum insulated piping VIP with degas system, refurbishment of existing vessels to the CryoFill automatic filling system; the shipment of the samples under controlled conditions for Lelystad to Wageningen

This turnkey project done by Cryo Solutions BV is another example of “one stop shopping”

MVE1536 Sanquin Leiden and moving samples

The Sanquin blood bank in Lei-den chose the MVE1536 High efficiency as their next cryo vessel as they are so satisfied with the low liquid Nitrogen consumption. Compared to others, the large capacity and small footprint means that they really like working with this type of vessel. In conjunction with this delivery, Cryo Soluti-ons BV helped with moving a large quantity of samples from another location to Leiden. This had to done under controlled conditions into the MVE1536.Yet another fine example of “One stop Shopping” where Cryo Solutions show how they can assist the client in the best possible way.

Participation ESHRE 2014

Cryo Solutions participated in the latest of the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) shows, this year in Munich. This was in cooperation with another Dutch company IKS International and Mortek AS from Norway. We showed an MVE816 2T with CryoFill and the connection to the XiltriX alarm monitoring system of IKS - and were overwhelmed by the positive response. Mortek AS is our partner for the cryogenic world in Scandinavia. The participation worked out so well that most we will definitely be present at the next ESHRE in 2015, so we will see you in Lisbon!

Cryo Solutions is already a supplier of large quantities of liquid nitrogen (every week) at the HagaZiekenhuizen in the Hague. Besides this, Cryo Solutions also supplies HagaZiekenhuizen with cryogenic equipment, annual maintenance and 24-hour-back-up service. With our Cryo Medic service we deliver small drops of liquid nitrogen on the department floor itself. At the main building but also at the other hospital facilities we deliver nitrogen tanks in the seize of 3 to 10 litres with the necessary safety equipment such as cryogenic gloves and O2 detection. The tanks are equipped with our discharge device for filling the CryoPro nitrogen spray units for dermatology use, so that the end user can quickly and easily fill them but also safely. Cryo Solutions is main supplier of the CryoPro nitrogen spray unit and is also equipped to maintain these units. Besides a reasonable price, we have quick service- and delivery times. The end user, most of the time the dermatology department, doesn’t have to worry about the availability of liquid nitrogen every day of the week. We take care of that. Applied Biosystems Int. part of Life Technologies has chosen an ‘all in’ package with Cryo Solutions. They have opted for the Cryo Solutions one stop shopping concept in order to be able to focus entirely on their own core business and also to have the right partner for dealing with their cryogenics. Cryo Solutions have installed an MVE815 with CryoFill connected to a Eurocyl 230/4 pressure tank, safety equipment such as O2 detection, and will take care of the annual maintenance; they will also supply the liquid Nitrogen provide a technical and safety training for the staff of Applied Biosystems.

CryoFill automatic filling unit

The CryoFill controls and monitors the liquid nitrogen level within a cryogenic storage vessel. One of the unique features of the CryoFill is that it has multiple measurement techniques, so it can be combined with almost every storage vessel on the market.

In the world of cryogenic controllers and filling units there are two industry standards for measuring the liquid nitrogen level: the simple ‘four point level sensor’ or the ‘pressure differential measurement’. They each have advan-tages and disadvantages. Cryo Solutions has developed a new automatic filling controller for biological storage vessels that can operate with either of these standards. The status, settings, events and alarms of the controller are displayed on a TFT touchscreen display and are very easy to read. The alarm is displayed in a different color on the TFT display, for easy recognition; an audible alarm can also sound. The user interface of the controller is very user-friendly and information is easily accessible and readable.

CryoFill with XiltriX connection

CryoFill and connection to ReAssure

The latest feature of the CryoFill is the ability to connect to the IKS XiltriX remote alarm and monitoring system. This allows the user to remotely monitor the CryoFill from his/her computer via the XiltriX console. For example if there is an alarm, the user can check the status of the unit remotely and determine whether immediate action is needed or not!

The new ReAssure monitoring solution from Planer, offers users simplicity combined with sophistication. Scalable from one up to a thousand sensors - ReAssure offers users intuitive access to real time monitoring data through a variety of desktop and mobile devices. With the tendency to consolidate stored materials into larger cryogenic vessels, the CryoFill controller not only coordi-nates filling of vessels, but also provide monitoring data.

Such information can be easily incorporated as part of a ReAssure monitoring sy-stem via CryoFill. Additionally, ReAssure can be used with an independent tem-perature probe to meet today’s regulations requiring independent monitoring.• ReAssure can also set ‘acceptable’ alarm conditions. If

the reading falls outside these, alarms come via SMS / phone (landline & GSM) or as visual and audible alarms.

• Remote access allows log in online via a web browser (secure user name and password) - with different access levels for each user.

• “False” alarms can be avoided by adding delays before sending certain types of alarms and by ignoring certain aspects of alarms such as communication errors.

• Interpreting alarms on a screen is easy with green/red status indicators.
