Band Name: Luna Song: GrammyGenre: Pop

CharacterOur main singer – Luna – will be between the ages of 17-19, blonde hair and petite. The music video will show the females outlook on her boyfriend crazy and wild lifestyle, who is also a rapper/singer. Throughout the course of the music video Luna will be mocking her boyfriends view on life and the things he says. We will show shots of her boyfriend partying and hanging out with other girls whilst she is pushed to the side and forgotten about.

PLOTLuna (the main female singer) will be performing and acting throughout the music video to convey the plot of: Luna has a rapper/singer boyfriend who is living his life being crazy and wild while he attempts to continue his relationship with Luna. However, it has gone too far. Throughout the music video split screen shots will be shown, Luna singing the lyrics and conveying her emotion, whilst her boyfriend is at a party playing poker with his friends and various other girls and drinking having a good time.

This is a genre characteristic, included in Goodwin’s theory. As the genre of our music video is pop, a typical theme that runs throughout the genre is break ups, especially from the females point of view of their relationship.

PLOT CONTINUED…

Beginning: Luna and her boyfriend are shown through Polaroid images of them to establish the relationship between the two. There will be strong editing to the beat as the tempo builds so does the transition of shots. facial features of Luna are flashed between these polaroid images to introduce the performance aspect of the music video. The lyrics ‘what do you want from me cause I’ve given you everything’- Luna lip-syncs the lyrics and also close up shots of her. Then we show Luna and her boyfriend arguing and he walks out of the house and gets into his car. We then show the strobe light located within the studio setting, the flash will be very impactful and in time to the beat.

Middle: This includes the first verse. We will show Luna’s boyfriend on his way and arriving at a poker party. This will be combined with performance shots and split screens of Luna and her boyfriend. Polaroid images will also be shown.

End: This consists of the repeat of the chorus, therefore we will show Luna lip syncing to the camera and a repeat of polaroid images. Luna will be located outside and she will convey emotion.

COSTUME

As our original concept of our artist Luna consisted of space-like and futuristic characteristics, we felt bright colour’s will suit this style

As the song ‘Grammy’ is modern and has an electronic vibe through the beats of the song we believed bright colour's would reflect this

Colour’s such as: purple, pink, green, yellow etc.

As we want our artist Luna to be edgy, cool and fashionable – we have taken inspiration from artists such as Lady Gaga and The Grimes – who also wear bright and distinctive clothing

We feel that these colour’s can also represent and connote specific emotions Luna is feeling

COSTUMEIn the music video, Luna will wear a different costume in every different situation. We have decided that every costume will be a different colour to represent the emotions she is feeling in terms of her relationship as she is presented with a new situation. Through her costume we also want to promote the artist ‘Luna’ by wearing fashionable clothing. – A point taken from Goodwin’s analysis to promote/sell the artist.

COSTUME COLOURWe have decided to have one of the costumes in our music video in the colour red. This is due to the connotations and representations the colour red has: it is the colour of energy, passion and action, also the colour of sexuality, passion and love which can be associated with Luna’s previous relationship but the colour red also connotes danger and anger – the emotions she is now feeling.

We believe that Luna should be wearing the colour red when she is in performance based shots when she sings to the camera to express her anger towards the situation. We also want Luna to wear fashionable and appealing clothing to appeal to our target audience of the age 15-30 women.

COSTUME COLOUR

Blue is a colour that represents loyalty, strength and trust. The loyalty will be portrayed through the blue clothing that will be worn. The loyalty will be seen through the female loving the male figure but then seeing the male break up with her. This will then show the audience he hasn’t been loyal to her but she has been to him. Strength and trust will be shown by the female figure not worrying about the break up and keeping her head high. This will immediately show to the audience that she is a strong minded character who wont get hurt easily. Finally trust will be a major part within this video as the whole relationship is based on trust and with the trust being broken the blue will symbolise the trust barrier being broken.

COSTUME COLOUR

The colour white symbolizes purity, innocence and wholeness. White is also the colour of new beginnings, this costume will be worn near the end of the music video to show evolution of Luna’s character throughout the music video, as she once wore red to represent anger towards her boyfriend whereas her transition between anger -> new beginning, she will wear white to represent this change of character.

Luna will wear a white costume when she is performing and exploring the fields/woods location to represent freedom in nature.

OUR INFLUENCES

We have taken inspiration from Lana del Ray’s – ‘Summertime Sadness’ and ‘National Anthem’. We found her music videos to execute similar codes and conventions such as the narrative and visuals to the beat to fit our intentions for our music video. Additionally, the girl group ‘The Grimes’ – ‘Genesis’ we found to be inspiring for our shot types and locations as it has the edginess we wanted to convey whilst still being mainstream and appeal to our target audience of women aged 15-30.
