• Opening day was July 14, 1934.
• The Market is open daily from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Friday/Saturday until 9 p.m.)
• Nearly 100 gourmet grocers, restaurants and tourist shops are on-site. Many are family-owned and have been in business for generations.
• Early celebrity visitors included President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra and Shirley Temple.
Today, it is still quite common to spot celebrities in and around the Market.
