Cluster (number of nodes)
Energy consumption vs Number of nodes
Cellular
Cellular + TN
TRAXENS-NET enables end-devices to share their connectivity and energy resources and to cooperate to deliver their data to the cloud using a permanent gateway or another end-device acting as a temporary gateway.

HIERARCHICAL SCHEME
TRAXENS-NET implements a hierarchical scheme consisting of 4 types of nodes:
▪ HEAD the gateway
▪ MEMBER single hop
▪ AFFILIATEmulti-hop
▪ LOOSE seeking for a cluster

TRAXENS-NET
OBJECTIVES
Extension of the network coverage thanks to 2km line-of-
sight communication range and multi-hop capabilities.
Extension of the battery lifetime by
minimizing the number of cellular
connections thanks to the election
scheme and the clustering mechanism.

TRAXENS-NET
FEATURESThe Election scheme permits to elect one or few
nodes in charge of collecting the data from nearby
nodes and sending it to the cloud.
The Clustering scheme groups nodes in clusters
managed by a leader in order to improve the scalability
of the network.
Acknowledgments are employed at different levels of
the protocol to ensure the delivery of the data at the
destination.
The multi-hop communication permits to extend the
network coverage to nodes out of the radio coverage of
the cellular network.
The use of Sub-GHz bands ensures an efficient
propagation of radio signals in metallic environements.
Bi-directional communications permit the flow of the
data not only from the devices to the cloud but also
from the cloud to the devices.
The AGFS system detects the correct frequency band
to employ according to the current position and the
radio regulations in force.
The Wake-on-Radio (WoR) enables nodes to
permanently listen to the radio channels with an ultra-
low energy consumption.
The organization of the network and all maintenance
operations are automatic and transparent to the users.
The network communications are secured by an
internodes mutual authentication based on a private
128 bits AES key.

CLUSTERING ELECTION SCHEME
TO EXTEND BATTERY LIFE
• TRAXENS-NET minimizes the negative
impact of communication overhead on
energy budget.
• Example: energy budget drained by
communication is decreased by 58%
with a cluster of 5 nodes:
• 35 joules per day with TRAXENS-NET,
• 84 joules per day without TRAXENS-NET.

MULTI-HOP RELAY TO EXTEND
LTE COVERAGE & QOS3 benefits when LTE coverage is:
▪ GOOD reduced energy budget
▪ POOR good QoS with a controlled energy budget.
▪ NULL extended coverage, always with a good QoS and limited energy budget.

LUWAN for 5G THE BEST OF THE 2 WORLDS !
▪ LUWAN = (TRAXENS-NET + NB-IOT + LTE-M) in one SKU.
▪ Seamless integration of TRAXENS-NET WSN properties within 5G protocols LTE-M & NB-IoT:▪ Up to 50% energy budget reduction for
communications with the cloud.▪ Coverage extension for devices on “cellular edge”.
▪ Bring to 5G IoT devices the same benefits than those achieved for 2G, 3G and 4G devices.
