BUSBAR SYSTEM

11

MAIN BUSBARS

> Standard design ensures low probability of inter-

nal arc faults through the use of high-performance

busbar supports and oversized creepage/clearance

distances. Optional arc propagation barriers can be

installed between cubicles to limit the spread of

arcs in the unlikely event of an internal arc fault.

Busbar systems have been arc fault containment

tested in accordance with IEC 61641

> Available in ratings up to 5000 A, 100 kA RMS fault

withstand capability and 220 kA peak withstand ca-

pability

> All busbar are made from HDHC copper and can be

finished in plain copper, tin-plated, silver-plated,

nickel-plated or fully insulated

MCC RISER BUSBARS

> HDHC copper riser bars are round in cross section

for high through fault withstand capability and are

tin-plated for low contact resistance plus high me-

chanical endurance at the connection point of with-

drawable chassis

> An IP2X insulated barrier segregates the riser bar

from the MCC equipment bay and allows connec-

tion to the riser bar at 76 mm intervals

> Optional IP4X lockable automatic shutters can be

fitted for enhanced segregation and safety

> Standard riser bars have been arc fault containment

tested in accordance with IEC 61641 and are des-

ignated as an ‘arc proof zone’

high and rated up to 280 A/160 kW, withdrawa-

ble chassis can be configured as motor start-

ers, feeders or contactor feeders. Withdrawa-

ble chassis have three physical positions within

the MCC: connected, disconnected and withdrawn

> ACB Incomers/Feeders. Rated up to 5000 A. Avail-

able for incomers, feeders or bus ties, in ACB config-

urations, all major equipment brands may be installed

> Fixed starters and feeders. Available up to 1200

mm high and rated up to 630 A/300 kW, fixed cubi-

cles can be used (fixed MCC type) in substitution for

withdrawable chassis or together with them (stand-

ard MCC type). Fixed cubicles can be configured as

starters, feeders or contactor feeders

IPCS SYSTEM

SKEMA’S INTEGRATED PROTECTION

AND CONTROL SYSTEM (IPCS) IS A

COMBINATION OF SOFTWARE AND

HARDWARE TO CONTROL AND SU-

PERVISE THE ELECTRICAL POWER

GENERATION AND THE DISTRIBUTION

PLANT. THE IPCS MONITORS AND

SUPERVISES THE STATUS OF EVERY

INCOMER AND FEEDER (FOR MV AND

LV SWITCHBOARDS) THROUGH THE

INTELLIGENT IPCD RELAYS. THE IPCD

SIGNALS ARE COLLECTED AND MAN-

AGED BY THE RTU.

The RTU, connected to the LMS/DMS

LAN and/or through the DCS LAN, ex-

changes information with the control

room. An operator can monitor and

supervise the system connecting with

a PC to the RTU or directly to LMS/

DMS Ethernet LAN.

Developed to comply with the most

stringent Oil & Gas Industry stand-

ards, Skema’s IPCS:

> Integrates the functionalities of

Shell DEP 33.67.01.31 (IMCS)

and DEP 33.64.10.32 (ENMCS)

> Controls all network components

at all voltage levels

> Interfaces with the process con-

trol system (DCS) in order to

match the electrical supply to the

processing requirements

> Compiles and analyzes data on

the performance and mainte-

nance of the electrical network

> Supplies data to higher-level sys-

tems to allow for the evaluation of

the overall plant key performance

indexes

> The integration of process and

electrical data permits to calcu-

late plant indexes and present a

plant dashboard related to avail-

ability, performance, profitability

THE OPERATOR INTERFACES

THE OPERATOR INTERFACES ARE IN-

STALLED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS

AROUND THE PLANT AND THEY

SERVE TO:

> Display live synopsis of switch-

boards and systems that are part

of the electrical network

> Display alarms and trends of real-

time and historic measurements

> Display IED details, allowing the

operator (where permitted) to

change the IED parameters

> Display sequence of events (SOE)

and disturbance recordings made

in case of trips

> Allow the operator (where per-

mitted) to change functional

parameters

> Allow the operation managers to

analyze performance, cost, relia-

bility and power quality

The Human-Machine Interfaces are

implemented across various levels:

> Operator control panel for intelli-

gent Power Motor Control Center

> Operator monitoring and control

interface for electrical cabins and

substations

> Operator workstations installed

in the Control Rooms to manage

all the functions of the electrical

network

SYSTEM INTERFACES

THE INTERFACE CONTROL UNITS

The Interface Control Units (ICUs) are installed in each (and every) substations of the plant. They serve to:

> Communicate with IEDs and other systems (TG/EDG UCPs, UPS, HVAC) via IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 101/104, DNP3,PROFIBUS, OPC, etc.

> Store and forward data in case of temporary network faults

> Allow for local connection of an operator workstation

> Perform substation automation (black-start, normal to emergency switchover, etc.) via communication and H/W’d IOs

> Operate as gateways for information and commands between the DCS and upper levels of IENMCS and IEDs

> Allow for intercommunication between devices and systems using different protocols

The objectives of the NFC technology

applied to Skema’s switchgear are:

> To have all the documentation

available on the tablet (SLDs,

layouts, as built documentation,

technical manuals, etc.) through

the reading of the NFC tags po-

sitioned on the switchgear, and

the possibility to refresh the doc-

umentation when updates are

made
