BIBLE STORYLYDIA AND PAULActs 16:11-15

* Paul and his friends traveled and told people about Jesus.

* One day, Paul and his friends were walking beside a river.

They saw some women who were praying. One of the

women was Lydia. Lydia sold purple cloth.

* Paul began to tell the women about Jesus. Lydia listened

and believed in Jesus.

* Lydia invited Paul and his friends to her home.

BIBLE FUN ACTIVITIES

RIDE IN A WAGON • Sit one or two children in a wagon. Note: Use a box if a wagon is not available. • Briefly tell the Bible story. • Invite children to pretend to be Paul as you pull the wagon around the room. • Lead them to tell other children and teachers that Jesus loves them.

MAKE PLAY DOUGH SHAPES • Cut colored straws into 4-inch pieces. • Give each child a lump of fresh play dough. Help children to flatten the play dough. • Draw a shape in the play dough and give each child a handful of straw pieces. Invite children to stick straws inside the shape. • Talk about the story. Comment that Paul told Lydia about Jesus.

JUMP OVER PUDDLES • Cut several puddle shapes from blue construction paper and tape to the floor. • Invite children to sit by the puddles while you tell the Bible story. • Explain that Lydia was praying by the water when she met Paul. • Invite children to try to jump over the puddles, walk around them, and walk over them.

STACK BLOCKS • Tape a path with several turns in it on the floor. • Provide blocks and invite children to put the blocks on the path. • Sit at the end of the path. Invite each child to follow the path. As a child completes the path, invite her to sit down with you. When all interested children have joined you, review the Bible story. Invite the children to sing the song on this page with you.

DRAG TOYS • Show the Teaching Picture (if available) and briefly tell the Bible story. • Comment that Lydia made purple cloth. • Provide small sheets or blankets. Note: Use purple if available. • Show preschoolers how to put a doll or toy on a sheet and drag it behind them.
