A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE BEFORE SUBMITTINGA BID TO BECOME THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH THE ACTUALCONDITIONS OF THE PROJECT. NO EXTRAS WILL BE ALLOWEDDUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF EXISTING CONDITIONS.
B. CERTAIN SYSTEMS REQUIRE ENGINEERING OF INSTALLATIONDETAILS BY CONTRACTOR. UNLESS FULLY DETAILED IN THECONTRACT DOCUMENTS, SUCH ENGINEERING IS THEEXCLUSIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
C. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINEWHERE CLEARANCES ARE LIMITED, AND WHERE INSTALLATIONDRAWINGS OR SCHEMATICS, "CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS", ORCOORDINATION DRAWINGS MAY BE REQUIRED IN ACCORDANCEWITH, OR IN EXCESS OF, THOSE REQUIRED BY THESPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE ALLSUCH COORDINATION DRAWINGS AS PART OF THE BASECONTRACT.

5. DEFINITIONS AND TERMINOLOGY

B. "CONTRACT DOCUMENTS" CONSTITUTE THE DRAWINGS,SPECIFICATIONS, GENERAL CONDITIONS, PROJECT MANUALS,ETC., PREPARED BY ENGINEER (OR OTHER DESIGNPROFESSIONAL IN ASSOCIATION WITH ENGINEER) FORCONTRACTOR'S BID OR CONTRACTOR'S NEGOTIATIONS WITHTHE OWNER. THE DIVISION 23 DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONSPREPARED BY THE ENGINEER ARE NOT CONSTRUCTIONDOCUMENTS.
C. "CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS", "CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS",AND SIMILAR TERMS FOR DIVISION 23 WORK REFER TOINSTALLATION DIAGRAMS, SHOP DRAWINGS ANDCOORDINATION DRAWINGS PREPARED BY THE CONTRACTORUSING THE DESIGN INTENT INDICATED ON THE ENGINEER'SCONTRACT DOCUMENTS. "WORK BY OTHER(S) DIVISIONS"; "RE: XX DIVISION", AND SIMILAREXPRESSIONS MEANS WORK TO BE PERFORMED UNDER THECONTRACT DOCUMENTS, BUT NOT NECESSARILY UNDER THEDIVISION OR SECTION OF THE WORK ON WHICH THE NOTEAPPEARS. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TOCOORDINATE THE WORK OF THE CONTRACT BETWEEN HIS/HERSUPPLIERS, SUBCONTRACTORS AND EMPLOYEES. IFCLARIFICATION IS REQUIRED, CONSULT ARCHITECT/ENGINEERBEFORE SUBMITTING BID.
I. BY INFERENCE, ANY REFERENCE TO A "CONTRACTOR" OR"SUB-CONTRACTOR" MEANS THE ENTITY WHICH HASCONTRACTED WITH THE OWNER FOR THE WORK OF THECONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
J. "ENGINEER" MEANS THE DESIGN PROFESSIONAL FIRM WHICHHAS PREPARED THESE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. ALLQUESTIONS, SUBMITTALS, ETC. OF THIS DIVISION SHALL BEROUTED THROUGH THE ARCHITECT TO THE ENGINEER(THROUGH PROPER CONTRACTUAL CHANNELS).
EXISTING BUILDING:1. THE CONTRACTOR'S ATTENTION IS CALLED TO THE FACT THAT THE
EXISTING BUILDING WILL BE OCCUPIED BY THE OWNER DURINGCONSTRUCTION. CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE FACILITY SHALLNOT BE HINDERED BY THIS WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALLACCOUNT FOR ALL ADDITIONAL COSTS WHICH MAY BE INCURRED BYHIM DUE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF WORKING OVER AND AROUNDEMPLOYEES, SPORTING EVENTS AND CONCERTS, EQUIPMENT, ETC.;AND DUE TO THE HOURS OF THE DAY IN WHICH AN AREA MAY BEAVAILABLE WHEN SUBMITTING HIS BID.
2. MAINTAIN A MARK-UP SET OF DRAWINGS WHICH INDICATEVARIATIONS IN THE ACTUAL INSTALLATION FROM THE ORIGINALDESIGN. SURRENDER DRAWINGS TO OWNER UPON COMPLETION.INCORPORATE THESE NOTES INTO THE AS-BUILDING DRAWINGS.
3. COORDINATE ALL PENETRATIONS OF THE FLOOR SLAB PRIOR TOCOMMENCING WORK. UTILIZE X-RAY AND VISUAL INVESTIGATION OFEXISTING CONDITIONS AS REQUIRED PRIOR TO DRILLING ORCUTTING. COORDINATE ALL NEW PENETRATIONS WITH OTHERDIVISIONS OF THE WORK. ALL CONTRACTORS ARE INDIVIDUALLYRESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PENETRATIONS REQUIRED BY THEIRDIVISIONS.
ELECTRICAL COORDINATION:1. VERIFY THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE ELECTRICAL
CONTRACTOR BEFORE ORDERING ANY MECHANICAL EQUIPMENTREQUIRING ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.
2. PROVIDE PREMIUM EFFICIENCY MOTORS (NEMA STANDARD MG1-2003,TABLES 12-12 AND 12-13) WITH 1.15 SERVICE FACTOR ON ALLEQUIPMENT, MOTORS SHALL BE CAPABLE OF OPERATINGCONTINUOUSLY AT 105°F UNDER JOBSITE CONDITIONS ANDALTITUDE.
3. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT SHALL BEPROVIDED WITH HOA SWITCH AND STARTER COMPATIBLE WITHEQUIPMENT AND BMS SYSTEM. STARTERS SHALL BE PROVIDED BYDIVISION 23 UNLESS IN A MOTOR CONTROL CENTER. ALLDISCONNECTS SHALL BE FURNISHED BY DIVISION 26.
4. THE ELECTRICAL POWER FOR CERTAIN EQUIPMENT PROVIDEDUNDER DIVISION 23 HAS NOT BEEN SPECIFICALLY INDICATED ON THEELECTRICAL DRAWINGS AND MUST BE PROVIDED BY AND FIELDCOORDINATED BY THE DIVISION 23 TRADE REQUIRING SUCH POWER.
5. SUFFICIENT POWER FOR THIS PURPOSE SHALL BE FURNISHED AS"SPARE", DEDICATED CIRCUIT CAPACITY IN DIVISION 26'SPANELBOARDS. ALL WIRING, CONDUIT AND ELECTRICAL DEVICESDOWNSTREAM OF THE PANELBOARDS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OFTHE DIVISION 23 TRADE REQUIRING THE POWER UNLESS OTHERWISESHOWN ON THE ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS.
SUCH EQUIPMENT IS HEREBY DEFINED AS:
A. ELECTRICAL HEAT TRACE. REQUIRED HEAT TRACE LOCATIONS,CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATION ARE SHOWN OR INDICATED ONTHE DRAWINGS. PROVIDE ELECTRICAL HEAT TRACING ON ALLPIPES THAT ARE SUBJECT TO FREEZING, THIS INCLUDES AREASLIKE LOADING DOCK, INTAKE/RELIEF/EXHAUST SHAFTS, ETC.REFER TO SPECIFICATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
B. TEMPERATURE CONTROL PANELS AND LINE VOLTAGE POWERFOR 24V CONTROL TRANSFORMERS. REQUIRED CONNECTIONARE INCLUDED IN DIVISION 23 09 00 AND WILL BE SHOWN BYTHAT CONTRACTOR'S CONTROL SUBMITTAL DRAWINGS.
INSTALLATION:1. SUSPEND EACH TRADE'S WORK SEPARATELY FROM THE STRUCTURE.
DUCTWORK SHALL BE HELD TIGHT TO STRUCTURE EXCEPT WHEREOTHERWISE SHOWN.
2. INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITHMANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS UNLESS SPECIFICALLYINDICATED OTHERWISE OR WHERE LOCAL CODES OR REGULATIONSTAKE PRECEDENCE.
3. PROVIDE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED SERVICE CLEARANCEAROUND ALL EQUIPMENT REQUIRING SAME.
4. PROVIDE FOR SAFE CONDUCT OF THE WORK, CAREFUL REMOVALAND DISPOSITION OF MATERIALS AND PROTECTION OF PROPERTYWHICH IS TO REMAIN UNDISTURBED.
6. ISOLATE ALL PRESSURIZED PIPE (CHILLED WATER, STEAM, ETC.)EACH RISER, BRANCH, PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, AND AREA SERVED.
7. NO CHILLED WATER OR CONDENSER WATER LINES SHALL BELOCATED EXPOSED IN FINISHED SPACES OR BELOW THE BUILDINGSLAB UNLESS SHOWN OTHERWISE ON THE DRAWINGS.
8. ALL CURBS, ROOF JACKS, ROOF THIMBLES, ROOF DRAINS, ETC.SHALL BE COMPATIBLE WITH ROOFING SYSTEM TO BE PROVIDED.REFERENCE ARCHITECTURAL DIVISION FOR REQUIRED FLASHINGDETAILS.
9. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ALLCONCRETE EQUIPMENT PAD DIMENSIONS, BASED ON THE FINALEQUIPMENT SELECTION, TO THE STRUCTURAL AND GENERALCONTRACTOR FOR INCLUSION IN THOSE CONTRACTOR'S WORK ASDESCRIBED BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
10. UNDER THE BASE CONTRACT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALLLABOR AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO SPLIT EQUIPMENT INTOMULTIPLE PIECES TO FACILITATE RIGGING TO FINAL INSTALLEDLOCATION. CONTRACTOR SHALL REASSEMBLE THE EQUIPMENT ANDTEST TO CONFIRM PROPER OPERATION AND MAINTAIN ALL THEMANUFACTURERS WARRANTEES.
