The Quinten Quartet Saturday, Oct. 6th 2012 at 8PM Misto Di Voci Ensemble Sunday, Dec. 9th 2012 at 3PM Marcolivia Violin Viola Duo Saturday, March 16th 2013 at 8PM Crossroads of Classical and Jazz Sunday, May 5th 2013 at 3PM This string quartet consists of Mayumi Pawel, violin; Leslie Silverfine, violin; and Mark Pfannschmidt, viola; all members of the National Philharmonic and Doug Wolters, prinicipal cellist of the Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra. They will provide an interesting classical program for a broad audience with informative verbal program notes. This creates a warm atmosphere which invites the audience into the music making and enhances their experience. The program: “Quartet in G Major, Op. 77, No. 1” by Joseph Haydn; “Quartet in F Major, Op. 96, American” by Antonin Dvorak; “Lullaby” by George Gershwin and “Piano Quintet, Op. 44” by Robert Schumann with Li-Ly Chang on the piano. Ms Chang is a commissioned composer of MD State Music Teachers’ Asso. 2010 and Director of International Young Artist Piano Competition, Washington DC which is in its 28th year. Currently Ms Hickey works for the Voice of America in Washington, DC and Dr. Lau is piano faculty at Washington Adventist University. Li-Ly Chang will join them in Bohuslav Martinu’s “Sonatina for Two Violins and Piano.” Beethoven’s “Gassenhauer Trio” will finish the program. Baltimore Magazine says “Mr. Chappell continually defies the unwritten law that pianists can’t excel at both classical music and jazz.” Mr. Chappell has performed with major symphony orchestras including the Philadelphia, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Houston, Oakland, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras. Also with the Baltimore Symphony at Carnegie Hall and Wolf Trap Park, and a substitution for Claudio Arrau on four hours’ notice playing the Brahms Second Concerto. Chappell was a scholarship student of Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory and of Rudolf Serkin and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute. Early studies were in St. Louis, Missouri, as the protégé of Jane Allen. He is Director of Jazz Studies at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. Castle In The Mist Saturday September 25th, 2010 at 8pm Flutist Jennifer Rundlett earned her Masters degree from Peabody Conservatory under Tim Day and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in England with the famous flute pedagogist Trevor Wye. She is on the faculty of the Frederick Community College and Mount St. Mary’s University. She will play music by Amy Beach, Cecil Chaminade and “Castle in the Mist” by Phyllis Avida Louke, using the C flute, the alto flute and the piccolo. Her flute is a Powell gold flute with a platinum riser. Pianist Li-Ly Chang is Director of the International Young Artist Piano Competition and commissioned composer in 2011 of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association. was hailed by the New York Times as “an artist to watch with a fine blend of technical skill and interpretive insight.” She was silver medalist at Villa Lobos International Competition in 1976 and taught at the University of Illinois. She will play “The Suite Populaire Espanole” by Manuel de Falla, then Martinu’s “Trio” and Li-Ly Chang’s “Fantasia” both for flute, cello and piano.

Trio Music Pilgrim Sunday December 5, 2010 at 3pm Celebrate the holiday season with Trio Music Pilgrim: Vladimir Fridman, Japan and released solo albums. Seth Kibel, Polish clarinetist, flutist and saxophonist, is one of the Mid-Atlantics’s premier woodwind specialists and winner of 17 “Wammies” (Washington Area Music Awards). Bob Abbott, German/Scottish bassist, has been an anchor in the Bay Jazz Project, a Wammie nominated jazz group. They have earned renown for playing diverse musical styles including classical, Latin American (music by Piazzolla, Tangos, Milongas, Bossa-Novas), Klezmer music (Bulgars, Freilakhs, Yiddish songs), and holiday music as well as original compositions.
