SERIES NOTES:- This is the sixth all-time meeting between Gonzaga and North Dakota.- GU has won all five previous meetings against the Fighting Hawks, including three matchups in Spokane.- The Zags won the last meeting between programs in thrilling fashion, 89-83 in overtime, in Spokane on Dec. 16, 2017. Josh Perkins led Gonzaga with 20 points, while former Bulldog Geno Crandall scored 28 for North Dakota.- The Bulldogs won the first-ever meeting between the teams, 78-76, in Grand Forks, on Dec. 28, 1956.- Since joining the NCAA in 1958-59, the Zags are 13-0 against current Summit League members.- GU won its latest meeting against a current Summit League foe, beating Denver last season, 101-40. The 61-point margin of victory was a new program record for the Bulldogs.- The Fighting Hawks will be the sixth Summit League oppo-nent for Gonzaga over the last six seasons.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS:- North Dakota opened the season with an 86-61 win over Crown College last Thursday.- De’Sean Allen-Eikens led UND with 22 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Filip Rebraca collected his third double-double with a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Marlon Stewart, who led the team in points, minutes, and as-sists last season, had 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists.- The Fighting Hawks shot 50 percent from the field, and limited Crown to 34 percent. UND made 10 three-pointers.- North Dakota was selected to finish eighth in the Summit League’s annual preseason poll.- As a team, the Fighting Hawks return a total of four players who started at least 16 games a season ago.- Stewart averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists per game.

A ZAG WIN WOULD ...- Extend Gonzaga’s win streak to three games.- Be the 21st straight win over an unranked opponent at home and third straight over an unranked opponent overall.- Extend the Bulldogs’ home win streak to 25 games.- Improve Gonzaga to 6-0 all-time against UND and 15-0 against Summit League opponents.- Make Gonzaga 101-16 in November games under Few.- Be the 11th straight win for the Zags in November.

FILL IT UP PETRUSEV:- Filip Petrusev filled up the stat sheet in the Zags’ 110-60 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. - Petrusev scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. He added six rebounds and had two blocks.- Through two games he is averaging a team-high 20 points and shooting 73.7 percent from the field (14-of-19).

AY YI YI JOEL:- Joel Ayayi leads the country with a 12.00 assist-to-turn-over ratio. - After two games he has 12 assists to only one turnover.- In the season-opening win over Alabama State, the redshirt sophomore dished out seven assists with no turnovers. - In the win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, he grabbed a game and career-high 13 rebounds.- Ayayi leads the Bulldogs averaging 10 boards a game.

JUST FINE AT THE LINE:- Gonzaga is fourth in the nation with 48 made free-throws and fifth with 66 free-throw attempts.

- Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Bulldogs were 31-of-39 from the free-throw line. GU’s 31 made free-throws were the most by the Zags since making 34 at Loyola Marymount on Feb. 9, 2017. The 39 free-throw attempts were the most by Gonzaga since 45 attempts versus Bryant on Nov. 18, 2016.

NOT A BAD WAY TO START:- Gonzaga opened the regular season with a 95-64 win over Alabama State. - The Zags made 57.6 percent from the field, including 10-of-20 from behind-the-arc. GU dished out 24 assists.- The Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers and outscored ASU 29-3 in points off of turnovers. Gonzaga had 11 steals in the win.

TWENTY-EIGHT FOR TWENTY-FOUR:- Corey Kispert scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.- It was the junior’s second-career 20-point game.- His previous career-high was 23 points at Portland last season.- Kispert scored a game-high 28 points in the scrimmage against Michigan State.

SEASON-OPENING SUCCESS:- The Zags have now won 16 straight regular season-openers dating back to a 73-66 loss to Saint Joseph’s in the 2003 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in New York City.- GU has won 31 consecutive regular season home-openers since a 73-65 loss to Boise State on Dec. 7, 1988.- Gonzaga has won all 16 regular season home-openers in the McCarthey Athletic Center.- The Bulldogs have won all 21 regular season home-openers under Mark Few.

PUTTING ON AN EXHIBITION:- Gonzaga rolled to a 116-61 win over Lewis-Clark State in the Zags’ lone exhibition game of the season.- The Zags made 67.6 percent of their shots from the field, and outscored LCSC in the paint, 74-12. - On the defensive side, GU forced 24 turnovers and finished with 18 steals. The Bulldogs outrebounded LC State, 44-29.- With the score tied 11-11 at the 16:16 mark of the first half, GU went on a 28-2 run over the next six minutes. The Bulldogs led 65-29 at halftime.- Seven Zags finished in double-digit scoring.

DELIGHTFUL DEBUTS:- In their collegiate debuts in the season-opening exhibition win, Anton Watson and Drew Timme combined for 46 points on 21-of-23 shooting from the field.- Watson led all scorers with 28 points, while Timme chipped in 18 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Watson also had nine boards, five assists and three steals. - Graduate transfers Admon Gilder and Ryan Woolridge both scored 11 points.

TILLIE NAMED TO NABC WATCH LIST:- Killian Tillie was named to the preseason watch list for the 2020 NABC Division I Player of the Year.- The 2020 NABC Division I Player of the Year award will be announced at the NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show in Atlanta, Ga. - site of the 2020 NCAA Final Four.

TILLIE NAMED TO NAISMITH WATCH LIST:- Killian Tillie was named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Preseason Watch List.- Tillie was named to the preseason list for the second straight season.

ZAGS EARN SECOND BEST PRESEASON RANKING:- The Bulldogs were ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll.- This marks the 19th straight season Gonzaga has been ranked in the AP poll. It’s the 10th consecutive year the Zags have appeared in the preseason poll, starting in the top-20 for the seventh straight season. - This year’s ranking matches the program’s second-best preseason AP ranking, as the 2005-06 team opened at No. 8. - It’s the sixth time GU has been ranked in the Top-10 in the preseason AP ranking. - The Zags earned their highest-ever preseason ranking in last year’s AP Top 25 preseason poll at No. 3, before ending the season at No. 4.- Michigan State topped this year’s preseason poll for the first time in its program history with 60 first-place votes. Kentucky followed at No. 2 with two first-place votes. Kansas received three first-place votes at No. 3. Duke and Louisville rounded out the top-five.

COACHES RANK ZAGS NO. 7:- Gonzaga was ranked No. 7 in the USA TODAY Coaches’ preseason poll.- Gonzaga opens in the top-20 of the poll for the seventh straight year. GU appears in the coaches’ preseason poll for the 10th straight season. - The Zags were ranked fourth in last year’s USA Today preseason coaches’ poll, before ending the season at No. 6. - The Bulldogs previous highest ranking ever in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll was in 2005-06 at No. 7, with 540 points.- Michigan State topped the coaches’ preseason poll with 30 first-place votes. Kentucky and Kansas followed at No. 2 and 3. Duke and Louisville rounded out the top-five. - The Bulldogs had 544 points in this year’s preseason coaches’ poll.

TILLIE NAMED TO KARL MALONE WATCH LIST:- Killian Tillie was named to the Malone Award Watch List. - Named after Class of 2010 Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Karl Malone, the annual honor in its sixth year recognizes the top power forwards in Division I men’s college basketball.- A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates. - Previous winners of the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award include Zion Williamson, Duke (2019), Deandre Ayton, Arizona (2018), Johnathan Motley, Baylor (2017), Georges Niang, Iowa State (2016) and Montrezl Harrell, Louisville (2015).

KISPERT NAMED TO JULIUS ERVING WATCH LIST:

- Corey Kispert was named one of 20 candidates for the 2020 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award.- Named after Hall of Famer and 16-year professional bas-ketball player Julius Erving, the annual honor in its fifth year recognizes the top small forward in Division I.- Last season, Kispert’s former teammate Rui Hachimura, was named the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award winner. Other previous winners include Mikal Bridges, Villanova (2018), Josh Hart, Villanova (2017), Denzel Valen-tine, Michigan State (2016) and Stanley Johnson, Arizona (2015).

ZAGS TABBED WCC FAVORITE ... AGAIN- For the 18th time in the last 19 seasons, Gonzaga was se-lected as favorites in the West Coast Conference preseason coaches’ poll. - With the exception of 2017-18, the Zags have been first place in every West Coast Conference preseason poll since 2001. GU received seven of the league’s 10 first place votes in this year’s poll. - Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own program. Saint Mary’s collected the other three votes. The Zags had 79 points in the poll, while SMC was second with 75 and BYU was third with 65.- The Bulldogs have won the last seven West Coast Confer-ence regular season titles. - Gonzaga advanced to the conference tournament champi-onship game for the 21st straight year last season, before advancing to the program’s fifth-straight Sweet 16 and third Elite Eight in the last five years. - The Zags have won or shared 18 of the last 19 conference regular season titles. Gonzaga has also won seven of the last nine WCC tournament titles.

TILLIE TABBED PRESEASON ALL-WCC- Killian Tillie was named Preseason All-WCC. He makes the list for the second straight season.- Tillie was a preseason All-West Coast Conference selection before missing 22 games with injuries last season. - In 15 appearances, he averaged 6.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. - The Cagnes-sur-Mer, France native, made 10 blocks and had 10 steals in 2018-19. - He made 50 percent of his shots from the field, including 43.8 percent (14-of-32) from three-point range. - Tillie was tabbed Second Team All-WCC following the 2017-18 season. He averaged 12.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in his sophomore season.

LETS TAKE A LOOK BACK- The Zags were one of only two teams without a conference loss last season (Wofford 18-0).- Gonzaga had seven wins by 40+ points last season, the most by any Div I team since Duke had eight in 2000-01.- GU won 15 games by 30 or more points, passing the 2016-17 team’s program record of 13.- The Bulldogs won 20 games by 20 or more points.- The Zags won 33 games, 30 by double-digits.- Gonzaga won each of its 17 conference games by double-digits, with the closest margin, 79-67, coming at USD.- In home games last season, GU trailed for only 16 minutes and 58 seconds, roughly 2.5 percent of the total 680 minutes.- Gonzaga trailed in the second half only twice during West Coast Conference play so far last season.

THIRTY-WIN CLUB- GU is the only program to have reached 30 wins in each of the past three seasons.- Gonzaga was the first team in the nation to reach the 30-win plateau in each of the last three seasons.- GU has reached 30 wins in a season five times, all coming in the last seven years; 32-3 in 2012-13, 35-3 in 2014-15, 37-2 in 2016-17 and 32-5 last season.- GU has finished a season with 29 wins three previous times.

ZAGS HIT 25 WINS ... AGAIN- Gonzaga has won at least 25 games in each of the last 12 consecutive seasons.- The Zags have reached the 25-win plateau in 15 of the last 16 seasons, and 19 of the last 21.- Only Kansas (13), Duke (11) and GU have reached 25 wins in each of the last 11 seasons.

THAT’S SEVEN STRAIGHT- The Zags have either shared or owned the West Coast Conference regular season title outright in each of the last seven seasons.- The Bulldogs have had at least a share of 18 of the last 19 conference championships, and 20 out of the last 22 years.- Gonzaga owns the longest current streak with seven straight regular season conference titles.

VIVA LAS ZAGAS- Gonzaga has won seven of the last nine WCC tourna-ments in Las Vegas.- The Zags are 24-3 in the WCC Tournament since 2009, when the event moved to Las Vegas.- Gonzaga’s three losses in the tournament in Las Vegas have all been to Saint Mary’s, the 2010, 2012 and 2019 finals.- The Bulldogs were 33-13 in the conference tourna-ment prior to it coming to Vegas.- The Zags have never lost an opening game of the tournament in Las Vegas, winning all 11.

- GU is 57-16 all-time in the WCC Tournament with 16 titles and 25 finals appearances, including each of the last 22 seasons. - GU is 43-5 under Mark Few in the WCC Tournament with title-game appearances in all 20 seasons.- Gonzaga has won in the WCC tournament semifinals in each of the past 22 years. The Zags last loss in the WCC semifinals was 1994, 83-75, to San Diego in Santa Clara.- The Bulldogs are 25-2 in semifinal games at the tournament, winning all 11 in Las Vegas.- Gonzaga has won the opening game of tournament the past 22 years, dating back to a loss in 64-59 in the 1997 quarterfinals to fourth-seeded San Diego as a fifth-seed.- The Bulldogs are 27-6 in opening games at the tournament, including 14-6 in the quarterfinals (nine straight wins).

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME:- Since the McCarthey Athletic Center opened in 2004, Gonzaga boasts a 207-15 record at home. - The Zags’ 93.1 winning percentage at home since 2004-05 ranks second in the nation.- GU has sold out every game since the 6,000-seat Mc-Carthey Athletic Center opened, a streak of 222 games.- The Bulldogs currently have a home sell-out streak of 255 consecutive games, dating back to the second game of the 2001-02 season, in which 3,900 fans attended a matchup against Montana in the then-4,000-seat Martin Centre.

PERFECT AT HOME- The Zags finished an undefeated record at home this season with the win over BYU.- The 17-0 record was the fourth unbeaten home record in program history, with the last coming in 2013-14. GU finished that season undefeated in WCC play.- Gonzaga has now finished perfect at home in confer-ence action nine times.

LIFE ON THE ROAD- The Bulldogs have won 32 straight WCC games on the road, the longest active streak in the country. GU’s last loss to a conference opponent on the road was at Saint Mary’s, 70-67, on Jan. 21, 2016. - The Zags have won 45 of their last 46 road games in conference play. Since 2014-15, GU is 43-1 in WCC road games. - Josh Perkins finished his career 34-1 in WCC road games.- If you include the WCC Tournament, GU has won 57 of their last 59 road or neutral league contests. - Since the 2005-06 season, Gonzaga is 208-65 in road or neutral games. The Zags’ 76.0-win percentage in road or neutral games tops the nation over that span.- Also since the 2007-08 season, the Zags are 99-25 in true road games. GU’s 79.5-win pct. in true road games is best in the nation over that span.

ZAGS SHINE AT FIBA U-19 WORLD CUP- Three Gonzaga men’s basketball student-athletes fin-ished in the top-seven in scoring at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Greece over the summer.- Joel Ayayi and Oumar Ballo were named to the tourna-ment’s All-Star Five.

in his 20 seasons at the helm, serving as an assistant coach at GU for 10 seasons prior to take the reins of the program.

• The Zags have won or shared 18 regular season league titles in his 20 seasons (all but the 1999-2000 and 2011-12 seasons) and taken home the conference tournament championship 15 times.

• The Bulldogs made a 21st straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2019, a streak that started when Few was an assistant coach in 1999 and currently ranks the Zags tied for fourth among current active streaks behind Kansas, Duke and Michigan State.

• Few has also cultivated NBA talent, including current NBA players in Domantas Sabonis, Kelly Olynyk, Zach Collins, Rui Hachimura and Brandon Clarke. Over the years, head coach Mark Few and his teams have been active in the community, contributing more than 125 hours on average each year. Individually, Few and his wife, Marcy, helped raise $6.7 million through his Coaches vs. Cancer event from 2002 to 2013. In 2008, they were honored for their philanthropy as recipients of the Nell and John Wooden Coaching Achievement Award by the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame based in Boise, Idaho. And over the last three years, Few has participated in the ESPN Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge in support of the Community Cancer Fund in Spokane. Few and the Zags often make trips to children’s hospitals, elementary schools, and other various local events, including Camp Goodtimes, a local summer camp for kids whose lives have been directly affected by cancer.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Filip Petrusev scored a career-high 25 points on 9-for-10 shooting as No. 8 Gonzaga beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 110-60 on Saturday night.

Admon Gilder scored 15 points, while Ryan Woolridge added 14 points and nine as-sists for Gonzaga (2-0). Drew Timme scored 15 points, Anton Watson 12 and Corey Kispert 10 for the Bulldogs.

Shaun Doss scored 15 points to lead the Golden Lions (0-2), who were hurt by 41% shooting. Gonzaga shot 62.5%.

Petrusev added six rebounds and two blocked shots as the Golden Lions had no answer for the 6-foot-11 sophomore.

Robert Boyd’s 3-pointer lifted Arkansas-Pine Bluff to its only lead at 10-9.

With the score tied at 14, Gonzaga hit three straight 3-pointers — two by Woolridge — to ignite a 17-2 run for a 31-16 lead. The Golden Lions were scoreless for more than four minutes.

Gilder’s long 3-pointer capped an 11-4 Gonzaga run that lifted the Bulldogs to a 46-22 lead with just over five minutes left in the first half.

Doss sank a 3-pointer and a field goal as the Golden Lions cut Gonzaga’s lead to 46-29.

But the Zags scored 10 of the final 11 points to take a 56-30 lead at halftime, behind 58.6% shooting.

The Golden Lions shot just 43.5% from the field and committed 12 turnovers in the first half.

Petrusev scored eight points as Gonzaga built a 69-37 lead early in the second half. Petrusev scored six more points as the lead expanded to 81-39.
