If you are not qualified, do not attempt installation. Product must be installed in accordance with NEC or your local, state, or federal electrical codes. If you are not familiar with these codes and requirements, contact a qualified electrician. 3. WARNING – Risk of fire or electric shock. Luminaries wiring and electrical parts may be damaged when drilling for installation of the LED lighting upgrade kit. Check for enclosed wiring and components before installation. 4. WARNING – Risk of fire or electric shock. Check the existing wiring for damage before installing Led lighting upgrade kit. Do not install Led upgrade kit if existing wires are damaged in anyway. 5. WARNING – To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose electrical wires to the edge of sheet metal and/or any other sharp objects. 6. WARNING – Risk of fire or electric shock. Install this kit only in the luminaries that have the construction features and dimensions shown in the photographs and/or drawings listed below or on the attached sheets. 7. Do not make or alter any holes in a wiring enclosure or electrical components during the kit installation. 8. Only the holes indicated in the photographs and/or drawings may be made or altered as a result of the led lighting upgrade kit installation. HOW TO INSTALL OUR LED LIGHT BAR UPGRADE KIT MR-496-209-ALC IN A 2x2 Luminarie

STEP 1: Turn off the powerAs stated previously, turn off the power.Locate latches on the lens frame and releasethem allowing lens frame to swing open.Carefully let lens frame hang and remove ifobstructing upgrade.

STEP 2: REMOVE THE TUBESRemove the existing linear fluorescent tubesand properly dispose of them. See Figure 2.

NOTE: Please seek advice from the EPA attheir website, local office, or national hotlinefor further disposal details for fluorescenttubes. The EPA's website is www.EPA.gov

STEP 3: REMOVE BALLAST COVERTo remove the wiring and ballast cover, squeeze thesides in and pull down and set aside. See Figure 3.

STEP 4: UNSCREW BALLASTFind the existing ballast and remove the screwholding the ballast to the fixture. See Figure 4.

STEP 5: REMOVE LEADS & BALLASTNow remove the ballast from the fixture by cuttingthe leads from the ballast to the fixture on bothends of the luminaire and cap the socket leads.See Figure 5.

NOTE: When cutting leads to the fixture, alwaysleave the smallest amount of wire attached.

6 7STEP 6: CUT POWER LEADSCut or disconnect the leads from the ballast tothe input power ensuring that you leave asmuch length of wire as possible for theelectrical connections. Remove the ballast fromhousing and dispose of properly. See Figure 6

STEP 7: PREP WIRESPrepare input power by stripping input powerleads ¼ inch. See Figure 7

STEP 8 / 8A: STRIP & ATTACH TO DRIVERPrepare input power by stripping input power leads ¼inch. Connect driver to input leads.See Figure 8 / 8A.

STEP 9: ATTACH DRIVERBring new driver into fixture using mounting holesfrom old ballast if possible and secure it usingsupplied #8-32 screw. See Figure 9.NOTE: If housing has multiple locations for powersupply, new driver can be secured in any of theselocations.STEP 10: Connect Driver to input powerMake electrical connection per “ElectricalConnections” per section on page 4.

STEP 11: ATTACH DRIVER COVERBring wiring / driver (ballast) cover previouslyremoved in Step 3 into the fixture. Carefullytuck all leads and wire connectors into the wirecompartment area of the fixture. Reattachcover by snapping into place over driver, donot pinch wires. See Figure 10.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Make the following ElectricalConnections:

a. Connect the BROWN driver leadto the BLACK voltage supplywire.

b. Connect the BLUE driver lead tothe WHITE neutral supply wire.

c. Ground the GREEN wire to thefixture.

STEP 12: Peel blue film from tapePrior to installing light bar make sure thefixture is clean of dirt and/or debris. Afterwiping down fixture make sure it is drybefore installing light bar. Remove blueprotective film from the 3M adhesive heatsink tape from the back of Led light bar.See Figure 11.

STEP 13: INSTALL LIGHT BARInstall the LED light bar into the fixture.Repeat this step for each LED light barsupplied in the LED light bar upgrade kit.See Figure 12.

STEP 14: SECURE THEM INOnce all LED light bars are in desiredposition permanently secure them tofixture by inserting (2) supplied selftapping screws into each end of the LEDLight bar.

STEP 15:Connect the driver lead connector, thatis exposed at the end of the drivercompartment with the LEDLight bar connector. See Figure 13.

NOTE: Place the LED relamp label,provided in the kit, on the inside of thefixtures lighting compartment. Alwaysmake sure that the label is visible.STEP 16: Close & turn onClose the fixtures door and secure thelatches prior to turning on the LED lightbar kit added to your fixture.
