SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA = SECOND SUNDAY IN LENT

Lo que significa ser hijos de Dios ���������✁�������������������✂✄ ☎✆✄✝✞✟✠ ✡✠✟✟☛☞✆✌✠ En nuestra cultura, cuando las personas le dan su palabra a alguien, podemos estar seguros de que la cumplirán. Está en juego el honor de quien da la palabra. Si, además, esa persona está avalada por su historial o por gente de gran estima y reputación, podemos estar más que seguros de que lo que se haya prometido ocur-rirá. En la Transfiguración, Jesús trae como avales de su palabra de triunfo y su promesa de vida a Moisés y Elías. En la promesa de Jesús, su triunfo final sobre la muerte y su gloria participan sus seguidores. Como ellos, po-demos aceptar el dolor, la persecución y las dificultades de la vida con confianza, esperanza y total seguridad. Jesús ha dado su palabra y la ha avalado con su Transfiguración; pero, no nos podemos quedar contemplándo-lo. Cuando hemos tenido la seguridad de la promesa, tenemos que volver a nuestro mundo para vivir la vida de Jesús y cumplir la misión. Descubrir quiénes somos y qué quiere Dios de nosotros es un proceso de toda la vida. Caminamos hacia Él conscientes de las dificultades que encontraremos en el viaje y confiando en sus promesas. Es posible que nos salgamos del camino, porque el pecado, con sus máscaras, nos tentará a buscar la felicidad en otros sitios; pero, la invitación de Dios a regresar a Él siempre está abierta. A lo largo de su vida, Jesús descu-brió a qué estaba siendo llamado. En la cima de la montaña, Pedro, Juan y Santiago fueron testigos, de una manera especial, de quién era Jesús; pero les recordó a los tres apóstoles, que tenía que vivir su misión no aleja-do del mundo, sino en él. In our culture, when people give someone their word, we can rest assured they will honor it. The honor or prestige of the person who gave their word is in jeopardy. Furthermore, if, the person is backed up by people of immense esteem and reputation, we can be more than sure that what was promised will happen. In the Transfiguration, Jesus brings Moses and Elijah as endorsement of his word of triumph and his promise of life. In the promise of Je-sus, his final triumph over death and his glory his followers participate. Like them, we can accept pain, persecu-tion, and difficulties in life with trust, hope, and complete certainty. Jesus has given his word and it is guaranteed with his Transfiguration; but we cannot remain just contemplating him. Once we have obtained the certainty of the promise, we have to return to our world to live the life of Jesus and fulfill the mission. To discover who we really are and what God wants from us is a lifetime process. Trusting in the promises of God, we walk toward Him, aware of the difficulties we will find in the journey. It is possible that we may lose our way because sin, with its many masks, will tempt us to seek happiness elsewhere; however, the invitation from God to return to him is always open. Throughout his life, Jesus discovered what he was called to do. At the top of the mountain, Peter, John, and James were witnesses, in a very special way, of who Jesus was; but, he reminded the three apostles that he had to live his mission in the world and not away from it. FESTIVITY OF SAN JOSE: On Tuesday, March 19th, the church celebra-tes the festivity of our Father San Jose, patrón of our parish. For this reason, a procession will take place beginning at 5:45 p.m. and will conti-nue with a solemn mass, harmonized by the choir. After the mass a small dinner function will follow at the parish hall. The Parish Groups and Organi-zations will be in charge of the food. We hope an elevated number of de-vouts and parishioners attend the mass in honor of our Patron SAN JOSE. APOSTOLIC HOUR: Because of the Feast for San Jose, this event will take place on Thursday, March 21st, beginning with the praying of the holy rosary at 5:30 p.m. Will continue with the holy mass. Immediately the Expo-sition of the Blessed Sacrament with the praying of the Holy Hour. Everyo-ne is cordially invited to participate. SICKLY : The parish counts with a determined amount of Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers to take the Holy Communion to their homes.
