    I give you a new

    commandment: love

    one another. As I have

    loved you, so you also

    should love one anoth-

    FR. ADRIANS CORNER

I have two big Thank Yous this week. Firstly, to allwho helped in any way to making Holy Week and Easterso wonderful and memorable Thank you! The Liturgieswere excellent and its due to the hard work of many onthe parish staff, of volunteers and ordinary parishionersthat we can have these beauful celebraons. We wel-

comed many new sisters and brothers into the Church atthe Easter Vigil, and Fr. David, our Pastor, really wentthat extra mile geng right into the Bapsmal Font topersonally bapze our elect. You could see him posive-ly glow for the remainder of the celebraon!

Our collecon for Bishop Michael Lenihan, OFM, of theDiocese of La Ceiba, Honduras, who preached the Lentenretreat, came to almost $23,000. This is a staggeringlygenerous amount of money from you, the people of SanLuis Rey Parish. On behalf of our brother Michael, I per-sonally want to thank you from my heart for this won-derful missionary spirit. The money will be used by Bish-op Michael to begin to build some pastoral structures inhis new diocese of a million and a half people. He will bewring to us in the next weeks to update us and expresshis thanks and that of the people of La Ceiba Diocese forthe extraordinary kindness you have shown them.Thank you once again, and God bless you!

The Promise of GodsUncondional Love and Infinite Generosity

The church has always encouraged authenc andbalanced forms of devoon that will help the faith-ful to deepen their appreciaon of the Eucharist.

The First Friday devoon is dedicated to the mostSacred Heart of Jesus and is associated with St.

Mary Margaret Alacoque who was given the gi ofan intense grace filled prayer life. In her myscalinsights (visions) she was given messages to fightthe heresy of Jansenism that drove people way fromGod.

The devoon to the Sacred Heart of Jesus empha-sizes the mercy and love of God and encourages be-lievers to frequently receive communion. Throughreceiving the sacrament, people will come to experi-ence and know the uncondional love of God.

On First Fridays, Friday, May 3, parishioners gath-

er aer the Daily Mass and spend from 8:00-10:00a.m. in Eucharisc Adoraon. People pray for them-selves and the church to always pracce and experi-ence the mystery of receiving communion and par-cipang in the sacramental encounter with Jesus.

Please join the members of our parish in this veryimportant part of the churchs devoonal life.
