Learning Statement Jurisprudence 438

Narrative Statement: When I entered this course, political science 438, I expected it to be an extremely boring and difficult class. As the semester is winding down, I can say without a doubt, that this class was by far the most beneficial and interesting class I have taken in college. Do not get me wrong, I have been challenged in this class. I constantly found myself struggling with philosophy our justice system utilizes.

Morality: My favorite part of this course was addressing my personal opinions. Through the difficult assignments, I concluded that the values our system strives to protect, do not align with my values. I unintentionally found myself tackling the concept of racial

discrimination. Although oppression is not the theme of the class, the topic always crept its way into my assignments. This class left students with an important message regarding people who are marginalized by society.

Favorite assignments and activities: I loved our class discussions. I would look forward to going to this class (which is extremely rare for me). I loved learning about the problems our democracy has and its awesome functions. Every assignment confronted the notion of ethical justice, I learned so much.

Concluding Statement: In order for our justice system to better itself, I believe individuals from my generation must take classes like this. There are so many ignorant, illiterate people who obtain immoral prejudices. If my generation gets more involved with social justice, I trust that the misconduct in our justice system will decrease.
