    Introduction

The M100 energy meter usesnumerical technology to achievehigh accuracy over a wide dynamicmeasuring range. It measuresenergy for single or three phasesystems. Housed in a DIN standard96mm by 96mm case, the M100 iscompact, rugged and ideal forpanel mounting in powerdistribution and power monitoringapplications.

    Application

    M100 applications include;

    Energy measurement to

    IEC 61036 Class 1.0

    Replacement/ upgrade of existingenergy meters

    Energy metering for building

    management or power

    management systems using

    pulsed outputs

The M100 is intended for use onsystems where energy monitoring isrequired, being capable ofproviding display of one or twometering quantities, each of whichcan be specified for active orreactive power, and for import orexport measurement. Options alsoprovide pulsed outputs for 1 or 2measurements. In this application, the M100 provides a more compactsolution than electromagneticdevices.

    Ha rdw are Description

The M100 is housed in a DIN case

with maximum dimensions of 96mm by

    96mm by 96mm.

M100 variants are available for single

phase systems or 3 phase 3 or 4 wire

    systems, with balanced or unbalanced

    loads.The front panel contains a 1 or 2 line

    alphanumeric liquid crystal display of

16 characters per line, with a

character size of 4.86mm by 2.96mm.

    Measuring circuit connections on the

rear are by means of individual M4

    screw clamp terminals, auxiliary and

    pulsed output connections using M2.5

terminal blocks. A copy of the relevant

DIN circuit diagram is printed on a

    label on the device.

    User Interface

If the external pushbutton option has

    been selected, the configurable

features of the M100 can be accessed

    through a menu-driven system. The

menu is arranged as shown below:

    Active and reactive energy are

    displayed when the device is

    switched on.

    Procedure for resetting

    channel 1

Press the setting button once and hold.

The above display is shown. The display will show the far right digitcount down from 5 to 0 and thenreturn to the normal working display. The counter should have reset to zero.If the setting button is released beforezero count is reached the counter willnot reset.

    Procedure for resettingchannel 2

Press the setting button twice and

    hold.

    The above display is shown.

The display will show the far rightdigit count down from 5 to 0 andthen return to the normal workingdisplay. The counter should havereset to zero. If the setting button isreleased before zero count isreached the counter will not reset.

    Procedure for changing theCT ratio

    1. Press the setting button threetimes and hold until the CT ratiois displayed.

    2. Press the setting button once.Rolling characters, +,, b, Eshould appear in the bottomright hand corner of the display.

    3. Hold the setting button in until Eis displayed, then release. SETwill appear under the CT ratioand an underscore will appearunder the first digit as shownbelow.

    (a) To increase the digits byone, press and hold thesetting button until a + isdisplayed and release. Todecrease the digits hold thesetting button until a isdisplayed and release.Repeat step (a) until thecorrect reading isdisplayed.

    (b) To change to the next digithold the setting button untilE is displayed andrelease. Repeatsteps 1 and 2 until thecorrect CT ratio is set.

    4. W hen changing the CT primarysettings the last digit set shouldbe the far right digit as shownbelow.

    5. Once this digit has been set, press the setting button andrelease when E is displayed.

    6. This will enter the new settinginto the unit. If you finish on anyother digit, the unit will defaultback to the original setting.

    7. If the device is left in the CTsetting mode it willautomatically change to thenormal working display after30 seconds, defaulting to thelatest fully programmed value(ie. any incomplete changeswill be lost).

    Notes on ordering

The standard devices on offer reflect the new normalised European voltage, eg. 230V L-N will work on a 220V or

240V system. Therefore, if for example a 220V unit is requested, a nominal 230V unit will be supplied.

NB. The unit of measurement displayed changes according to the change in CT ratio. The energy per pulse is related

to the displayed value. See Table 1 below for default settings.
