LOCATION

Macedonia is located in the southeast of Europe.It´s bordered by Serbia, Albania,Greece and Bulgaria.

CapitalThe capital is Spokje. It has a population of 500.000

inhabbitants.The total area is 1.854 km2

FLAGRed and yellow have always been considered the main colours representing Macedonia.The new eight-rayed sun represents "the new sun of Liberty"

COAT OF ARMS

The coat of arms contain a rising sun which symbolize freedom.

INFORMATION

Macedonia has total area of 25.713km2. It has a population of 2,058,539 inhabbitants.

The president was Nikola Karev

in1870.

CULTURE

Macedonia has a rich cultural heritage in art, architecture, poetry, and music. It has many ancient, protected religious sites. Poetry, cinema, and music festivals are held annually.

SPORT

Football and handball are the most popular sports in Macedonia. The national football team is controlled by the Football Federation of Macedonia. Their home stadium is the Philip II Arena.

GOVERNMENT

●Executive power in Macedonia is exercised by the Government, whose prime minister is the most politically powerful person in the country. The members of the government are chosen by the Prime Minister and there are ministers for each branch of the society. There are ministers for economy, finance, information technology, society, internal affairs, foreign affairs and other areas.

RELIGION●The religions most popular in The Republic of Macedonia are the Eastern Orthodoxy 64,7%. Islam 33% and christianity 0,3%.

CUISINE

●Macedonian cuisine is a representative of that of the Balkans—reflecting Mediterranean (Greek) and Middle Eastern (Turkish) influences, and to a lesser extent Italian, German and Eastern European (especially Hungarian) ones. The relatively warm climate in Macedonia provides excellent growth conditions for a variety of vegetables, herbs and fruits. Thus, Macedonian cuisine is particularly diverse.●
