Mustangs Athletics:

March was a very exciting month for Mustangs Athletics as all Basketball teams had exciting playoff

games. The Sr. Boys basketball team won Zone 7 beating Elton in the semi-finals and then in a great

final they came out on top over the Neepawa Tigers. At provincials, the boys ran into some tough

competition losing their last game of the season to Steinbach Christian by 2 points. Thank you to

coaches Myron Friesen, Laura Spelliscy, Brendon Wieler and Teacher Supervisor Ms. Raquel

Slonowski for all of your time and support. Congratulations to graduating players: Tyson Murray, Jon

Schultz, Dawson Sawatzky, Richard Watson, Noah Wieler, Carter Willis, and Brad Wright.

The Sr. Girls finished 3rd

in the league this year and travelled to Elton for their Zone semi-final game.

They gave it their all but it still wasn’t enough and they came out with the short end of the stick.

Thank you to Linden Guenther for coaching this year and to Manager Mrs. Teresa Wright and Teacher

supervisor Mrs. Tammy Kruse. Congratulations to graduating players: Tamara Boschman, Kiran

Page 5: MACGREGOR COLLEGIATEmci.pinecreeksd.mb.ca/uploads/2/3/9/7/23979590/april_newsletter_2… · Email: mci@pinecreeksd.mb.ca T: 204-685-2047 F: 204-685-3036 UPCOMI NGEVE TS April 7 First

Hodges, Bethany Kruse, Haley L’Heureux, Lacey Manastyr, Laura Wall, and Mackenzie Wright.

The JV girls also finished 3rd

in the league and took on Carberry in the semis. After a hard fought 1st

half, Carberry took the lead and the Mustangs could never catch up. Thank you to coach Laurelly

Beswitherick and Manager/Supervisor Mrs. Vivian Funk for all of your time and effort.

The JV boys travelled to Neepawa for the zone final and a chance to go to provincials. Even though

they put forward a great effort, they ended up losing. Thank you to Mr. Rick Welgush for all of your

time and effort coaching and managing the team.

The Badminton school team has been practicing since the start of February and the students are

improving tremendously. They are excited to get some tournament play in, hosting in April as well as

travelling to Westpark and Winnipeg! Zones are on April 22nd

. Good luck to all players!

Boys Baseball is starting to practice this week in the gym and will continue to do so until the snow

melts. Games are scheduled to start in May if the weather can cooperate. Coaches Richard Smith and

Marv Giesbrecht are looking forward to the season and great optimism from the players. Thank you to

Mrs. Wotton for supervising the boys’ team.

Don’t forget that sports fees and uniforms are due ASAP.
