Highlights -  Since 2000, it has developed a particular expertise on the

defect-tolerance analysis and application of innovative methods for the evaluation of fatigue life in welding connections.

-  The skills and competences of the research group on of fatigue crack propagation have been applied in the field of railway components and systems, and the expertise on fatigue behaviour has been developed in the area of high temperature and multi-axial components.

Highlights -  Since 2005, a know-how was acquired about the

calculation of structural integrity of railway components with particular focus to inspection intervals and durability of axles, but also other components of the bogie. NDT techniques for railways are also heavily studied. The international visibility is, today, excellent.
