[8] Continue working from the mid-dle to the left and use strand 6 to tie a row of double half-hitch knots over strands 5–2. Repeat for the next three rows, omitting the last strand each time (photo h).[9] Repeat steps 7–8 using strands 7–12, working from the middle to the right (photo i).[10] String seven 80 seed beads on strands 1 and 12 and a 60 over strands 6 and 7 (photo j).

[11] Repeat steps 7–10, then repeat steps 7–9.[12] Repeat steps 4–6 (photo k).[13] Untie the overhand knot and string the centerpiece button over strands 5–8 (photo l). Repeat steps 4–12 to complete the second half of the bracelet.

Button[1] Using strands 4 and 9, make five square knots over 5–8 (photo m).

[2] Using strands 1 and 12, make eight square knots over strands 2–11 (photo n).[3] Slide the button onto as many strands as possible, making sure to include strands 1 and 12. Tie an overhand knot to keep the button in place (photo o). Trim the tails and dot the knot with glue. If some of the strands did not fit through the button, trim and glue them.

Loop[1] Repeat steps 1–2 of the button instructions on the other end of the bracelet.[2] Pick up the longest strand and wrap it around all the remaining strands until the wrapped section is long enough to fit around the button (photo p).[3] Pick up any two strands (except the one used for wrapping), curve the wrapped section into a loop, and make eight square knots over the square knots from step 1 (photo q). Trim the strands and glue the knots. w

EDITOR’S NOTE: If you cannot find a suitable shank button for the centerpiece, use a sin-gle-hole button instead. Put a head pin through the hole, then make a wrapped loop on the back to serve as a shank.
