This was Madison’s third trip with Global Expeditions and her second trip to Thailand. Her team worked with Thai students and encouraging the small, but growing, church in Thailand.

The children loved to draw, and Madison
came home with many notes, pictures and
origami that the children made for her. Here, a boy presents a picture
that he drew of Madison.

One of the biggest social problems in Thailand is parents who sell their young daughters into the sex trade. Believers in
Thailand are working hard to save young girls from this fate by giving them education, vocations and a future.

Madison’s team traveled around in taxis like this one. It’s an exciting way to travel, if you like thrill rides. Madison was used to it after her first trip to
Thailand, but many of kids on the team though they were going to die
on the ride.

Madison’s team spent time developing relationships with students at the local University.

Madison was awed by the architecture of the Thai temples.

Motorcycles and scooters were a primary mode of transportation. Madison would see 4 or 5 people riding on one motorcycle.

Madison was most encouraged to see that the church in Thailand had experienced incredible growth since her first trip
in 2006. They had built their own church building.

One week was spent working in one of the remote Thai villages.

We’re not in Iowa anymore!

One of the schools that allowed the
team to come and help teach English had always shut
their doors to Global Expedition teams.
Madison’s team was allowed to spend four days working with the teachers and the students.
The school was so impressed with Madison’s team that they asked for the
next GE team to stay for two weeks!

Before heading home, the team was able to enjoy some fun with Thai elephants.

Madison has come to love the Thai people and felt very much at home there. Even though she was excited to get home,
she found it hard to leave.
