A webinar on ‘NAAC Assessment and Accreditation Process’ was organized by
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Madurai Kamaraj University with the technical support
from NAAC, Bangalore on 16 July, 2020 through video conferencing. This webinar was aimed
to disseminate knowledge on NAAC Accreditation and Assessment among the higher education
learning institutes in order to know its strengths, opportunities, and challenges through an
informed review process. Invitations were sent to 98 colleges affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj
University spread over four districts. Over 120 participants from 46 colleges affiliated to
Madurai Kamaraj University participated through the video conference and around 450
participated through YouTube live streaming. Majority of the participants were faculty members
associated with IQAC/NIRF ranking from the respective institutions.
The webinar comprised of three lecture sessions that followed by question and answer (Q
& A) session. Dr. K. Balakrishnan, Director, IQAC, Madurai Kamaraj University delivered the
welcome address. Prof. M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University presided
over the function and delivered Presidential & Inaugural address, in which he gave a concise
account on the importance of NAAC accreditation of institutions. Dr. M. S. Shyamasundar,
Adviser, NAAC, Bangalore in his opening remarks elaborated about the overview of NAAC
assessment process and its significance for the holistic growth of HEIs. In the first technical
session, Dr. Pratibha Singh, Deputy Adviser, NAAC, Bangalore, delivered a lecture on
‘Introduction to A & A of NAAC, Registration and Submission of IIQA’. In the 2nd
session
Dr. K. R. Vishnu Mahesh, Assistant Adviser, NAAC, Bangalore delivered a lecture on ‘SSR
Submission and DVV Process’ and in the 3rd
session Dr. D. K. Kamble, Assistant Adviser,
NAAC, Bangalore delivered a talk on ‘SSR Submission, Logistics & Peer Team Visit’. In the
Q&A session, the resource persons clarified the doubts related to Assessment and Accreditation
process raised by the participants.
Dr. S. Murugesan, NIRF Co-ordinator, MKU, proposed vote of thanks. The team of
IQAC members and supporting staffs made all the arrangements for the successful completion of
this webinar.
Feedback:
All the participants felt the webinar was highly useful. They commented that the webinar
enhanced their knowledge and understanding on the Assessment and Accreditation process of
NAAC. Besides, most of the participants requested for many of such events as the deliberations
were made by the authorities from the NAAC.
