THE COLLEGELady Doak College, a premier Christian institution and
the first women’s college in Madurai, was founded by Miss Katie Wilcox, an American missionary with dedicatory zeal and vision. Commencing its pioneering service in the cause of women’s education in and around the city of Madurai on 14th July 1948 in the Noyes Memorial Gardens, Tallakulam, Madurai, the college has completed 68 years of committed labour of love and learning. As an ecumenical Christian college whose purpose is to impart liberal education of Christian character to students of all creeds, this college strives to develop their intellectual powers, locate, identify and cultivate their interests and talents and trains them to be responsible and useful citizens. Lady Doak College is an unit of the Katie Wilcox Education Association, which is a Christian Educational Trust.
In its first year, Lady Doak College had 81 students, a few books in a small library room, one hostel, a portion of the classroom building under construction and a few thatched sheds. Since that time, the college has grown in every way. In the place of temporary sheds, today, we have a well-built beautiful chapel, classrooms, lecture halls, comprehensive library, well-equipped laboratories, multimedia theatres, indoor stadium-cum-auditorium, open-air theatre, residential halls, clinic, non-resident students’ centre and canteens. Now the college has an enrollment of about 4345 women students, served by a committed and skilled team of about 210 teaching and 132 non-teaching staff.
Academic autonomy was granted in 1978, making it one of the earliest autonomous institutions in the country. A challenging curriculum blended with relevant academic programmes, co-curricular activities, exposure programmes and a well-developed student support system has placed the college at the forefront in the field of higher education. The college currently offers 24 undergraduate, 14 postgraduate and 9 M.Phil. programmes and Madurai Kamaraj University has recognized 6 Departments as Research Centres. Besides these, 3 PG diploma, 2 diploma and 2 certificate courses are also offered. The college is also one of the first few Arts and Science colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu, which has initiated an international student exchange programme for credit transfer.

COLLEGE ADMINISTRATIONTHE PRINCIPAL
The Principal is the executive Head, official Secretary and Correspondent of the college and ex-officio Secretary of the Katie Wilcox Education Association. She appoints members of the faculty, admits students to the various courses, residential halls and is responsible for the maintenance of discipline and progress of the college.
THE VICE PRINCIPALThe Vice Principal performs the duties of the Principal in
her absence and other duties as delegated to her by the Principal.
THE BURSARAs the financial officer, the Bursar maintains correct
accounts of all financial transactions, supervises the non-teaching staff and prepares the budget. The Bursar discharges her duties in consultation with the Principal.
THE DEANS OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS (DAA)The Deans of Academic Affairs co-ordinate the academic
work of the Humanities and Science departments. They are responsible for organising seminars, consultations and workshops related to higher education and all matters relating to the college curriculum and internal quality assurance.
THE CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONSThe Controller of Examinations is responsible for the
formative and summative assessment of students, organising and co-ordinating the conduct of tests/examinations, evaluation, announcement of results and award of certificates, diplomas and degrees.
THE DEAN OF STUDENT SERVICES (DSS)The DSS is in charge of resident student services, health
services, food services and co-curricular activities. She carries out her work through the Resident Hall Supervisors, Convenors of Student Support Services Committee and the Student Cabinet Members. She looks after the interests of all students and acts in consultation with the Principal.
THE CHAPLAINThe Chaplain is in charge of all matters connected with
the College Chapel, organises worship programmes, study programmes/ retreats/ conferences for faculty and students and co-ordinates the Christian Studies Programmes and Student Christian Movement activities. She works in consultation with the Principal.

THE FACULTY ASSOCIATIONThe Faculty Association consists of all the teaching staff
of the college.
The Principal functions as the Chairperson of the Faculty Association calling all meetings of the Association. The Secretary, the Assistant Secretary and the Treasurer of the Faculty Association are elected by the permanent members of the faculty from among themselves for a term of two years. The Secretary assists the Principal in preparing the agenda and recording the proceedings of the meetings. The Treasurer is in-charge of the accounts of the Faculty Association.
The Faculty Association discusses the academic and extra-curricular programmes and offers suggestions for maintaining high standards in keeping with the purpose and philosophy of the college.

THE INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)
IQAC aims at realising the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance.
Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
a) Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
b) Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
c) Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
d) Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
e) Organisation of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
f) Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement
g) Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices
h) Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality
i) Development of Quality Culture in the institution
j) Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC

THE CURRICULUM PLANNING AND EVALUATION CELL (CPEC)
The CPEC consists of one faculty member representing each department, with 2 Joint Convenors, one each, from Humanities and Sciences. The Principal, Vice Principal, Bursar, Deans of Academic Affairs and Controller of Examinations are its ex-officio members.
Its main function is to design the total curriculum, keeping in mind the vision of the college, changes in society and the current trends in education. It also provides guidelines for formative and summative evaluations. Recommendations of the CPEC will be submitted to the Senatus for approval.
CONSTITUTION OF THE COLLEGE STUDENT CABINET
There shall be an association of all the members of the college students, officers of the college and the faculty members. All other Student Associations, Societies, Clubs and Forums shall be branches of the Association.NAMEThe Association shall be called ' THE LADY DOAK COLLEGE CABINET 'STUDENT CABINET
The Student Cabinet comprises of elected representatives from different departments.
PURPOSEThe purpose of the Cabinet shall be
a. to further and regulate the common life of students in the College
b. to promote cultural interest by planning and executing such programmes as it would afford adequate opportunities for the development of the special talents and interests of its members
c. to prepare students through such means for the service of their country

METHOD OF ELECTION
Students who have completed all courses in the first attempt, who have secured a minimum of 60% in Part III for Sciences and 50% in Part III for Arts and who have completed Part V (if applicable) are eligible candidates for the student Cabinet. Students who have paid condonation fees in earlier semesters are not eligible to stand for the Student Cabinet. Students from I UG and II UG who satisfy the above norms from each department have to undergo an e-psychometric test (to test leadership skills and social desirability). Students who get the required score in this test are eligible candidates to be elected within their departments. A minimum of five days will be given for these students to canvass and polling will take place separately for each department. II UG students who win the election will form a Cabinet consisting of one student from each programme.
These Cabinet members have to further undergo a GD (Group Discussion) Round. The GD scores are then added to the leadership skills scores to arrive at the top five who will be eligible candidates for the posts of President and Vice President. The members of the Cabinet will elect the President and Vice President by voting for 4 candidates in the order of preference. The top person with the maximum score will be the President and the second topper will be the Vice President.
The members of the Cabinet will elect two Joint Secretaries from Aided Stream and two Joint Secretaries from Self-Financed (SF) Stream, from among the students elected from I UG by voting for 3 candidates in the order of preference. Similarly the Cabinet members will elect Games Captain and Games Vice Captain from the panel of eligible candidates given by the Director of Physical Education.
For the posts of PG Representatives (Aided & SF), nominations have to be filed by the eligible students. An election will be conducted in which all Aided PG students will vote for a candidate from Aided Stream and all SF PG students will vote for a candidate from SF Stream. Treasurers (Aided & SF) will be nominated by the Principal from the Cabinet.

RULES & REGULATIONS RELATING TO ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE OF ABSENCEATTENDANCEStudents are required to• be regular and punctual to all classes (attendance will be marked in
the beginning of each session)• submit a leave letter prior to leave of absence except for sudden
illness or emergency• submit a leave form to the HoD for leave of less than 3 consecutive
days within 3 days of resuming class• submit leave letter to the HoD with parent’s or guardian’s signature
for leave of 3 or more consecutive days• produce a medical certificate along with the leave letter, if absent
for three or more consecutive days on account of illness• produce a medical certificate and a fitness certificate along with the
leave letter for approval, if absent for 10 or more days due to illness• obtain a leave form from the HoD for planned leave of ten days or
more and submit the duly filled-in leave form, at least 48 hours before the actual date from which the student would be absent
• report to the College Health Officer, (IF RESIDENTS) in all cases of illness and secure the signature of the College Health Officer and the Hostel Warden in the leave letter and submit it to the HoD.

Only those students who have obtained a minimum of 80% ATTENDANCE IN EACH COURSE and have completed ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT, including practicals, will be permitted to appear for the summative examination.
ATTENDANCE RULES1. Course-wise attendance is to be followed for all courses.2. For all courses that have summative examinations, only students
who have obtained a minimum of 80% ATTENDANCE IN EACH COURSE and have COMPLETED ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT including practicals will be permitted to appear for summative examination.
3. Condonation is NOT given as a matter of right but on the merit of each case supported by the timely submission of leave documents during the semester. Such condonation can be given up to a minimum of 65% attendance for each course. The condonation fee is prescribed as follows:
(including lower limit and excluding upper limit)4. Students who do not have sufficient attendance in any course will be
required to redo the course after completion of the regular period of study (three years for undergraduates, two years for postgraduates and one year for postgraduate diploma courses).
5. For vocational courses that are offered as crash courses at the beginning of the semester, students are required to have a minimum of 80% attendance, failing which they will be required to redo the course in the following semester/s within her period of regular study.
6. For courses that have no summative examination (apart from the vocational courses that are offered as crash courses), the minimum attendance requirement will be 65%, failing which the student will be required to redo the course after completion of her regular period of study in the semester (odd or even) in which the course is then offered.
7. Students who have less than 50% overall attendance in a semester will not be permitted to continue to the next semester. Such students will redo the semester before being allowed to proceed to the next semester.
8. Students who redo courses on account of lack in attendance will be required to redo the course in its entirety including all (formative and summative) components of evaluation.
TRANSFER AND CONDUCT CERTIFICATESFOR OUTGOING STUDENTS• Transfer and Conduct Certificates will be issued to the outgoing
B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./M.A./M.Sc./M.Phil. students on application or at the end of the course of study after the details are verified and signed by them.
• The certificates should be received in person as far as possible. At the time of receiving, the student is requested to bring her parent or local guardian along with her ID card and remit a sum of Rs.20 towards TC processing charges.

The Rotaract Club of Lady Doak College along with the Rotaract Club of Madurai West is an active long term club which involves in social services such as helping the aged people in old age homes and conducting blood donation camps. This club also takes part in the ‘Make Madurai Clean and Green’ team. Students from both Aided and SF Streams can be a part of the Rotaract Club of LDC.

7. ISC STUDENT CLUBThe International Study Centre (ISC) is the
international hub of the college. It knits the academic, personal, social interests and skills of the students in an international framework through activities. The ISC Student Club acts as a constant encouragement to the students to develop their exploration globally. The student team meets to discuss global issues and affairs expanding their boundaries to all subjects. Students are given opportunities to guide the international students both inside and outside the campus. Students can volunteer for the International Service Learning programmes and Exchange Study programmes organized by ISC. The club also organises indoor games, tea parties, festivals and celebrations which mainly involves the student team. The ISC Student Club proves to be a place where talent is developed and evolved.8. AUDIO-VISUAL SUPPORT TEAM
The students are trained to operate and maintain a wide range of audio-visual equipment on campus. They operate the PA systems for all college functions.9. ITeS CLUB

The Oliyin Oli is a club for students initiated by the Center for Women Studies wherein students transcend differences and bond with one another. The club facilitates opportunities for them to engage in creative expressions on women’s experiences through media productions like posters/short films/music videos, memes, etc. They can build their leadership with volunteering and participate in a wide range of programs such as public and social media campaigns, panel presentations/discussions, debates, interactions with students from foreign universities, training programs/workshops, etc.THE LDC WALLPAPER
LDC Wallpaper encourages students to creatively respond to their surroundings and to any current issue. It also provides a forum to the students to voice their opinion regarding any aspect of college life.MAGAZINE

LIBRARYJ. X. Miller Memorial Library holds to its credit 1,35,635
books, 149 periodicals and 2541 e-journals.
The library consists of a general library, 12 departmental libraries and resource centres on Women's Studies and Christian Studies. Open Access System and special collections on Human Rights, Environmental Studies, International Studies, Interfaith Relations, Competitive Exams and Current Affairs are the hallmarks of J. X. Miller Library.

CIRCULATION SECTIONBooks are issued to the staff and students of Lady Doak
College only. The ID card with its bar code is used as the Library Card. Undergraduate, Postgraduate and M.Phil. students may borrow 3, 4 and 10 books respectively except for reference books and periodicals. The period of lending is 10 days. Reserve books are issued to all students for overnight study only. Economically needy students will be given books from the Book Bank with the Head of the Departments’ recommendation.
If a book is not returned on time, a fine of 50 paise per day is levied. If a book is lost, the borrower should replace or pay three times the cost of the book.
SPECIAL SERVICEAlumnae and research scholars from other institutions are
permitted to use the library resources by paying a nominal amount of Rs.10 per day.
REPROGRAPHIC SECTIONReprographic section serves the users with photocopying
facility.
BROWSING UNIT
Computers with internet access for free academic browsing enables students to update their knowledge. Printing facility is available on payment of Rupee 1 per page.

Residential HallsAccommodation in residential halls is given only to bonafide students of the college of the current academic year. Seven residential halls (Harilakshmi, Gaylord, Wilcox, Pandyan, Sir James Doak, Pandita Ramabai and Amy Carmichael), each under the care of faculty Resident Hall Supervisors, provide residential accommodation for approximately 700 students. At least one meeting a month is held by the JCAR (Joint Council for Action in Residence) to consider matters of interest or concern to resident students.

Application for residential accommodation must be made to the Dean of Student Services at the time of admission. In accepting resident students, preference is given to the students who reside outside Madurai. (Booklet for the resident students contains all other details pertaining to residential life)
Generalâ SPORTS & FITNESS Athletic Track and Sports Field includes the Kabaddi
Court and Floodlit Volleyball Stadium. A Multi-Gym fully equipped with Four Station, Treadmill, Multibar and Twister is widely used by the staff and students.
â COUNSELLING UNIT Provides individual and group counselling for needy
students. It also trains selected staff in counselling skills. A part-time professional counselor renders personal counseling services to help the college community with personal/ familial/ academic problems and behavioural/ habit disorders.

Canteen serves hygienic food from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m at three centres, Main Canteen, Annex Counter and Fruit Juice Corner.

Thirty beds are available. Visiting doctor is available from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day. Nurses are available round the clock. Medical inspection is held every year for all students.

State Bank of India – Lady Doak College Branch with ATM facility provides banking facility for the college community between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday (and on first and third Saturdays). Every student should have an account since all fees and payments should be made online.

CODE OF CONDUCT1. As members of the college community, students are
expected to conduct themselves with integrity, courtesy and responsibility on and off the campus. No student shall participate in acts tending to discredit the institution or impede its working either from within or from outside.
2. The college expects its students to be honest and requires the members of the faculty and students to report any evidence or suspicion of dishonesty. Any such case will be investigated carefully, the student being allowed to speak on her own behalf. If a student is dishonest and seems unlikely to mend her ways, appropriate action will be taken.
3. Students are requested to wear their ID cards while they are at college everyday. Students found without ID cards will be fined Rs. 500.
4. Regular attendance is expected in classes from all students.5. Each student is expected to be responsible for maintaining
discipline in the classroom, in the college campus and during college programmes.
6. The college expects all students to attend the regular assembly programmes as well as special functions organised by college officers or officers of the Student Cabinet.
7. The college expects each student to respect the needs of others by maintaining silence during study and worship hours both in college and residential halls.
8. The college expects each student to be responsible for maintaining silence in the library and for careful use of books and periodicals without tearing or marking them.
9. The college expects each student to be responsible for maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the campus.
10. Any damage to the property of the college is a serious offence. Writing on walls, doors and furniture is a punishable offence. Offenders will have to pay for any damage done.
11. The college expects each student to be responsible for reading the notices posted by officers of the college on notice boards on the college campus. Students shall not tamper with the notices displayed.

12. Students shall not put up any notice in the college campus without prior permission from, and counter signature of the College Officers/ Dean of Student Services/ Heads of Departments.
13. Celebration of Holi on the campus is strictly prohibited.14. All students, resident and non-resident must obey the
medical orders of the college doctor or college health officer and must pass the medical examination conducted by the college doctor in order to remain in the college.
15. The college expects each student to be responsible for the safety of all her personal property including money, jewellery and electronic gadgets.
16. Students should not loiter on the campus during class hours.
17. During college holidays, non-resident students are permitted to come to college only with prior written permission from their departments.
18. Students should not entertain their friends from other colleges inside the campus.
19. The day begins with a common prayer through the Public Address System in which all participate maintaining silence. All Christian students are expected to attend Christian Studies classes and other Christian programmes regularly.
20. Ragging in any form is prohibited. Stringent action will be taken against defaulters as per UGC guidelines, copy of which is given to students and parents.
21. Students are not permitted to have their lunch in their classroom and laboratories. They are encouraged to use the lunch pavilion.
22. Students are expected to wear simple clean clothes and dress modestly, suited to the occasion.
23. Students are not permitted to participate in live/ photographic modelling, fashion shows, stage shows or any TV programmes without prior written permission from the Principal.
24. Any student whose conduct is considered to be detrimental to the best interests of the college is liable for disciplinary action.
25. During college functions students who come late will not be permitted to attend the programme.

26. As a member of the community, every student is required to obey the rules and regulations of the college and to respect and support the college ethos. If unable to abide by any of the rules of the college, the student should immediately inform the Principal and leave the institution following due procedures.
27. In case of doubt regarding the interpretation of the rules and regulations of the college and in all matters not covered by the above, the college authorities should be consulted for clarification and guidance.
A. RULES REGARDING MOBILE PHONE AND LAPTOP USAGEGENERAL RULES FOR ALL STUDENTS• Students are permitted to bring mobile phones and laptops
to College.• Mobile phones and laptops can be used only for academic purposes
during class hours.• Mobile phones should be in silent mode while students are
in the classrooms, laboratories, libraries and auditoriums• Students indulging in inappropriate use of mobile phones
or laptops on campus will have to face the disciplinary action prescribed by the college.
RULES FOR RESIDENTS• Mobile phones and laptops should be used only for academic
purposes during study hours from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.• Mobile phones and laptops should not be used from
11.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.
B. PUNISHMENT FOR DEFAULTERS• Any student found breaking the above rules will be suspended
from class for 20 working days (excluding test period).• Any resident student found breaking the above rules will be
dismissed from the hostel and also be suspended from classes for 20 working days (excluding test period). They can apply for re-admission into the hostel only after 30 working days from the day of suspension. The decision for hostel re-admission will be taken based on the discretion of the Management and also on the availability of seats in residence. The following rules apply, if a student re-joins:
• The student will not be given accommodation in the same residence where she stayed earlier.
• Re-admission processing fee of Rs. 2000/- is to be paid at the Bursar’s Office before the student rejoins the hostel.

THE ALUMNAE ASSOCIATIONThe purpose of this Association is• to establish a link between the alumnae and the college and
thereby build and maintain a rapport between the successive generations of the alumnae
• to keep alive the ideals and serve the growing interest of the college

one year and members of the faculty who have served the college for at least one semester are eligible for membership.

ALUMNAE DATABASE AND FACEBOOKThe Alumnae Database has around 11,500 records
updated every year with details regarding the present position and contact details of the college alumnae. The college newsletter and invitations for the main functions of the college are sent to the alumnae regularly.
The college also maintains an Institutional Facebook account ‘LDC Madurai’ through which the alumnae, present students and faculty members interact.

• College Store that caters to the various stationery and personal requirement of the students
• CRIB (Creche) for outside public and the college staff members to take care of the babies and toddlers from the age group of 3 months to 5 years

Freshers are introduced to life in Lady Doak College in formal and informal settings for three days, which includes a campus tour.Resident Juniors' Welcome
The freshers in residence on campus are made to feel at home by their seniors through a welcome party. The rules that are to be followed during their stay in the college hostel are also introduced to them.
Leadership CampExternal experts are invited annually to impart leadership
skills to the student leader holding various offices.
Parent-Teacher Meet for III UGA parent-teacher meet is usually conducted in the

Alumnae DayAlumnae Day is held in the month of August where the
alumnae of the college come back to their alma mater to renew their fellowship with their old classmates and teachers. The college honours its distinguished alumnae with special awards of recognition and the alumnae also vouch to extend their support to the college.
Intercollegiate Cultural CompetitionsEvery year in the month of September, intercollegiate
competitions are held with a particular theme. The Student Cabinet, in consultation with the larger student body, decide on a theme for cultural competitions and organise it at an intercollegiate level. These competitions are usually held in September and attract women students from colleges all over Tamil Nadu. These events offer a platform for display of talent and foster teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy competition and exposure to standards in other campuses.
Human Rights DayIn accordance with the Human Rights Day, the college
organizes lectures regarding human rights for the students and also various competitions are held to create awareness among students about their own rights.
National Service Scheme (NSS) CampAs a requirement of the Part V Programme, National
Service Scheme (NSS) camps are organized for the various NSS units of the college in the villages in the outskirts of Madurai. Through these camps, the NSS students develop a sense of responsibility towards the society they live in and also get a glimpse of the rural life.
Parent-Teacher Meet for I UGA parent teacher conference is usually conducted in the
month of January to discuss with the parents about their children's performance and also give suggestions for improvement. The first semester mark statements are distributed during the meet which allows the parents to get a first hand report from the teachers.
Graduation DayThe graduates receive their degrees and diplomas
marking their official graduation from the college.

Student Cabinet ElectionStudents elect their representatives to the Student
Cabinet for the forthcoming academic year from amongst a list of all eligible candidates. A scientific method of selecting the President, Vice President, Joint Secretaries and Treasurers is adopted from the elected Cabinet.
Sports DayThe annual Sports Day in the month of February is
not just the conduct of standard athletic and non-standard competitions but also showcases a march past, mass drills, aerobics and cultural events that celebrate physical prowess of students. There are also special events for teachers, non-teaching staff, guests and children.
Women's Day CelebrationsInternational Women’s Day celebrations go beyond
making students compete with one another and attempts to engage them in innovative ways of celebrating gender equality. There are meaningful Debates/Talk Shows/Open Forums with students (Boys and Girls) from other city colleges, affirmations, etc. New ways of dialogues with students are established by provoking their insights of gender inequality through imaginative expressions such as making of Memes, etc.
Hostel DayThe hostel students celebrate their year long stay in the
hostel with entertainment programmes.
College DayThe outgoing students are honoured with prizes and
certificates for meritorious involvement in all aspects of college life. It is the culmination celebration of the year’s events.
Student Cabinet ValedictoryThe outgoing Student Cabinet hand over charge to the
newly elected Cabinet members.
Hostel Seniors FarewellAt the end of the academic year, the resident
seniors are honoured by their juniors. It is a celebration of camaraderie and long-lasting relationships and a time to bid adieu.

Seniors' FarewellThe Seniors' Farewell is an emotion-packed farewell party
for the seniors hosted by the juniors. Memories of fondness and togetherness are recollected. Deserving outgoing students are honoured with Certificate of Recognition.
Candle Lighting ServiceCandle Lighting is a solemn service for the outgoing
students. During the service, the Principal gives an inspirational message to the outgoing students and candles are lit symbolizing the responsibility of the students to be a light that triumphs over darkness wherever they go.
Endowment LectureIn the name of the donors that endowments have been
created, academic lectures are arranged periodically.
CHRISTIAN ACTIVITIESWilcox Chapel
All students and faculty members are invited to the Wilcox Chapel for worship and meditation. Worship services are conducted at 8.30 a.m., 11.20 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. during weekdays.
Students are permitted to worship in local churches every Sunday morning. Special services are arranged on Thursdays and Sunday evenings at 6.45 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively, for which all students and faculty with family are invited.
Christian Activities Centre
It has a good collection of English and Tamil books. Both faculty and students are encouraged to use them after making the necessary entries in the register provided.
Christian Studies Programme
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Christian students of all denominations will be enrolled in the diploma courses offered by the Christian Education Cabinet of Tamilnadu (C.E.C.).
Every student successfully completing the three UG C.E.C. courses will be awarded UG Diploma in Christian Studies and those students completing two PG C.E.C. courses will be awarded PG Diploma in Christian Studies.

Student Christian MovementChristian students of all denominations become members of
the Lady Doak College SCM unit.This is the official Christian organisation of students linked in union with other colleges throughout the world. Its programmes include Bible Study, Worship and Outreach projects. Its leaders are elected Student Office-bearers who plan programmes at the college with the help of the Chapel Committee representatives.
Choir (English & Tamil)The students are trained to sing hymns. The choir is actively
involved in leading the worship and singing in the daily worship services and all the special services held in the college.
Faculty RetreatA faculty retreat is conducted at the beginning of every
academic year for the faculty members of the institution. Theologically sound resource persons are invited to give messages and thoughts to refresh and prepare the faculty members for the new academic year.
Students' RetreatIn order to enhance the spiritual life of the students, retreats
are conducted. It helps deepen their prayer life and renew their enthusiasm. This is a time of retreating into the presence of God through prayer, message, music and worship.
College Scripture ExamAs a Christian institution, much emphasis is placed on
nurturing biblical knowledge and spiritual growth. Christian students take up an examination in September on selected books of the Old Testament, Gospels and Epistles. They are also required to memorize a specified chapter from the Scriptures and prizes are awarded to top performers at the college level. Preparation for this exam is entirely based on self-study.
College Carol Service
The College Carol Service is on the second Saturday of December every year. It is the highlight of the Christmas celebrations on campus. The message of Christmas is shared through special carols rendered by the College Choir, teachers, non-teaching staff and their children. Renowned speakers are invited to share God’s message. The offertory collected is given for a charitable cause.

Community Christmas CelebrationThe Community Christmas Celebration is celebrated before
the college breaks for Christmas holidays. A Christmas message, an enactment of the nativity scene, songs and choreographies, conveying the message and meaning of Jesus' birth constitute the celebration.
Lenten ServiceThe Chapel Committee and the College Choir organise a Special
Lenten Song Service during the season of Lent to meditate on the Passion of Christ.
COLLEGE DAY CELEBRATIONSA day is set aside when the outgoing students are honoured
with certificates for progress in academic courses and participation in co-curricular activities of the college. Students are honoured with proficiency prizes.
Proficiency PrizesBoth formative and summative marks are considered for
