WAG and MAG competitors will alternate during floor competition.
The announcer will introduce competitors to the floor for MAG and WAG.
The MAG and WAG athletes must be standing at the edge of the competition floor in
preparation to march onto the apparatus. On the signal from the D1 judge the gymnast will present to the judge and step onto the floor. He/she will not commence his/her
routine until he/she has been announced.
Apparatus and Equipment
MAG
Pommels: Spieth
Rings: Speith
Vault: Gymnova
Parallel Bars: Speith
High Bar: Speith
Floor: Spieth
WAG
Vault: Gymnova
Uneven Bars: Spieth
Beam: Spieth
Floor: Spieth
No sticky substances are permitted on equipment. This is a safety issue for the competing gymnasts and to avoid damage to equipment. Water may be used but only in moderation
and is to be sprayed for safety reasons and ensuring the life of the rails. Any sticky
substance that is used will result in the coach being carded and the gymnast will be
deducted 0.5.
For all WAG & MAG Levels/STEPs there will be two beat boards at vault, one “hard” and
one “soft”. The boards will contain springs in the FIG configurations. The springs may not be moved into different configurations. There can be NO changes to the springs (either
number or configurations). The gymnasts must use either the hard or soft board, as provided.
Alteration of Apparatus If an athlete requires the uneven bars, horizontal bar or rings raised in height, this application must be made by submission of the Alteration of Apparatus Form appended
to this Work Plan (Appendix 8), a minimum of 24 hours prior to the commencement of
the first competition session, to the Competition Office.
Notification of Changes to Team Athletes The named gymnasts of a Provincial Team are designated on the entry form. Changes to teams (substitution of a named team member with a gymnast entered as an
individual or a member of a provincial second or subsequent team) may be made no later than the scheduled Managers Meeting.
14
These changes must be made by completing the Request for Withdrawal/Substitution Form appended to this Work Plan (Appendix 6) and submitting to the Competition Office.
If, due to extenuating circumstances (either injury and subsequent withdrawal of a team
member, or withdrawal in other extenuating circumstances that are beyond the control of the Provincial Team), a further change is required, the final time for acceptance is 45
minutes prior to the commencement of the competition session. There can be no changes to teams after this time.
In the event of a withdrawal and substitution, the replacement athlete will compete in place of the original athlete. No changes to the order of work will occur.
Optional Team Order Coaches will be responsible for submitting their optional team order form to the panel of
judges as they arrive at the apparatus, using the Optional Team Order Form appended to this Work Plan (Appendix 7). Coaches will be able to fill in the form (typed or by hand),
cut it out, and hand it in to the judging panel as they present to the judges at the start of
the rotation. Coaches will also need to submit a second copy of the floor order to the Control Table for the announcer and copy to the announcer and music staff. These forms
will be available at the control table during the competition.
If there is more than one provincial team grouped together, provincial teams will alternate beginning with the province listed first on the run list. If there are individual gymnasts in
the same group as a provincial team, the individuals will compete after the teams, in run list order (there is no optional order for individuals).
Score Queries Protesting of a final score is not permitted.
Artistic Difficulty (D) Score:
Enquiries for the D Score only are permitted and must be submitted by completing the
D Score Query form appended to this Work Plan (Appendix 9, 10 and 11) to the Control
Judge, within 4 minutes of the flashing of the score. If the region is unable to file the
relevant paperwork within the 4-minute timeframe, they must indicate to the Control
Judge their intention to query within the 4-minute timeframe.
The procedure to be followed is:
Completion of a D Score Query form. The query must relate only on the
gymnast’s routine and no reference may be made to other gymnasts.
The Provincial Manager or Coach may approach the Control Table and submit the
form to the respective Control Judge.
Following consideration of the Query, the Control Judge will deliver the decision to
the Provincial Manager or Coach concerned.
Artistic All-Around Finals For 2019, the All Around (AA) finals will be conducted for MAG Levels 4, 5 and 6 and
WAG STEPs 5 and 6. The top 24 MAG gymnasts from each level and the top 32 WAG
gymnasts from each STEP, regardless of age and province, will qualify from the Qualification Round (Competition 1) [Team competition]. The final WAG results will be
separated into Under and Over age categories.
Tie break rules for qualification will apply.
The draws for AA finals are appended to this Work Plan. Due to these being Junior events it is considered advantageous to place all gymnasts from the same Province into
the same competing group. Therefore, the draw shall be interpreted as follows:
15
The qualifying ranking of the individual gymnasts shall include all gymnasts from the respective Province. For example, #1 ranked qualifier shall take his/her designated #1
place in the draw followed, in ranked order, by other qualifiers from the same Province (i.e. 2). The #2 ranked qualifier shall take his/her designated, next available place in the
draw, this being #4 in this example. This process shall continue for all 24 or 32 places. This order can be altered if necessary, to keep athletes from the same province together.
Two non-competing reserves will be named and will be required to prepare to take the
place of a named finalist should there be an official withdrawal prior to the
commencement of the competition session.
Withdrawals and reserve placements must be undertaken on the Request for Withdrawal/Substitution Form (Appendix 6), which the Provincial Manager files with the
Competition Office. There are no replacements made after commencement of the competition session. If named reserve gymnasts are required as a replacement the
Provincial Manager or Coach will receive an authorisation signed by the Event Manager or the respective Control Judge. The requirements for AA finals are the same as for
competition 1 (team). Replacements will work in the order of the athlete they are
replacing.
Senior Artistic Apparatus Finals Apparatus Finals will consist of the 8 highest qualifiers who have met the minimum performance criteria. Tie breaking rules for qualification will apply.
Where there are overseas competitors in a MAG Level or WAG STEP the following will
apply:
For MAG, a maximum of 8 gymnasts from New Zealand, and a maximum of 2 gymnasts from each overseas club/ state/country from the Qualification Round
(Competition 1) will qualify for apparatus finals. For WAG, a maximum of 8 gymnasts from New Zealand, and a maximum of 2
gymnasts from any overseas club/state/country may qualify from the Qualification Round for apparatus finals. If for any circumstance there is fewer
than 8 New Zealand gymnasts who qualify for any final then the overseas athletes will be permitted to fill the remaining finals spots.
WAG STEP 7 to 10 gymnasts must achieve a minimum score in the qualifying
round to qualify for apparatus finals. These are: • STEPs 7, 8 and 9 – minimum score of 10.0
• STEP 10 – minimum score of 9.5
Two non-competing reserves may be named and will be required to prepare to take the
place of a named finalist should there be an official withdrawal prior to the commencement of the competition session.
Withdrawals and reserve placements must be made to the Control Judge or Floor Manager in the first instance. The Request for Withdrawal/Substitution Form (Appendix
6) must be filed by the Provincial Manager with the Competition Office as soon as practicable. There are no replacements made after the commencement of the respective
apparatus competition session. If named reserve gymnasts are required as a replacement, the Provincial Manager or Coach will receive an authorisation signed by the
respective Control Judge.
The requirements for apparatus finals for Artistic will be the same as Competition 1
(Team and All Around) with no increased difficulty requirements for Apparatus Finals except for International Vault as listed in 17.1 below and STEP 10 vault as below:
16
17.1 Apparatus Vault Finals; the competition requirements for the Senior Open MAG, STEP 10 and Senior International WAG Vault Apparatus Finals, when conducted as a
separate event from Teams and/or All Around Championships shall be conducted on FIG Competition III rules, that is, on Day 1, 2 two vaults are performed and the first vault
score counts to Competition 1 I and 2 II (Team and AA) and the average of the first and second vaults count towards ranking for qualification to vault finals.
Men’s Artistic Gymnastics: The gymnast must show one vault in Qualification, Team Final and the All-Around Final. In order to qualify for Vault finals two vaults need to be presented in qualifying for U18
and Senior Open.
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics: Apparatus Vault Finals
The competition requirements for Senior International WAG Vault Apparatus Finals, when conducted as a separate event from Teams and/or All Around championships shall be
conducted based on FIG Requirements: The gymnast must perform two vaults, which will be averaged for the final score. The two
vaults must be from different Vault Groups and must show a different second flight phase in accordance with the FIG Code of Points, section 10.4.
STEP 10

or with two different flight phases are required. The scores of the two vaults will be
averaged.
Refer to the WAG STEPs manual for more specific information.

The Coach or the Team Manager may query a start value during the competition. These queries must be directed through the Control Judge who will be available at the
Competition Jury table or on the competition floor overseeing the work of the judges. If circumstances determine that the Control Judge is required to be a member of an
apparatus panel, he/she may only be approached with queries in the inactive periods, that is, between rotations.
Unauthorised persons are not permitted on the competition floor. With the exception of
the accredited persons, no Regional/Club Officials, Coaches, photographers, video operators, parents/guardians/caregivers are allowed on the competition floor.
Penalty for unauthorised persons on the competition floor - for a first breach the person shall be requested to leave the competition floor, a warning will be issued and a
0.20 penalty taken from the Gymnasts/Athletes Individual All Around score or the Team score whichever is applicable. For subsequent breaches the gymnast or team
(whichever is applicable) shall be DISQUALIFIED. In all instances, infractions will be reported to the Control Judge who will action and
authorise the penalties and warnings.

15.2 Blood and Body Fluid Policy The following policy rules are to be applied at all gymnastics events, competitions, contests, activities and training sessions.
A gymnast or person who is bleeding or has blood on their clothing must immediately leave the area of activity (field of play) and seek attention.
The bleeding must be stopped, the wound dressed and blood on the gymnasts/person’s body or clothing cleaned off before they return to the activity.
The activity in the potentially infectious area must cease until all blood on the ground/floor
or equipment is cleaned up. These rules also apply to body fluids.
Support Information
ASSUME ALL BLOOD AND BODY FLUIDS ARE POTENTIALLY INFECTIOUS Wash your hands before and after treatment for cuts and abrasions.
Cover all cuts on your hands with waterproof dressings before treating. Avoid skin contact with blood and body fluids.
Use disposable gloves if skin contact with blood or body fluid is likely. Use
paper towels to clean up blood or body fluids. Soiled surfaces must be disinfected with household bleach. Use one part
bleach to ten parts water. Ideally bleach should be in contact with the surface for half an hour.
Place contaminated material, including gloves and paper towels in a plastic bag for safe disposal.
Public Health Commission, New Zealand 1994. Code 4264
Further information on Blood and Body Fluids for sport is available
on www.ausport.gov.au Active Australia - Blood.htm
15.3 Health and Wellbeing Policy
Head & Neck Injuries This policy applies to any Gymnast/Athlete, who falls on or from the apparatus, landing
mats or floor, and lands on their head or neck, either in training, competition or any gymnastic related activity.
Head Injuries Visible Signs of Concussion
The symptoms of concussion are dizziness, loss of memory, confusion, slurred speech, pupil size difference or loss of consciousness. Any Gymnast/Athlete who shows signs of
concussion is automatically stood down and will be sent to the Paramedics for initial screening. If concussion is suspected the athlete will be referred to a Medical Doctor. The
Gymnast/Athlete will be stood down from all gymnastic activity until clearance to continue is received from a Medical Doctor. The head injury sustained should be reviewed by a
Medical Doctor in the shortest appropriate time scale.
No Visible Signs of Concussion
If there is suspected concussion, but there are no visible signs of concussion, despite a head injury, the Gymnast/Athlete will be stood down from all gymnastic activity and will
be sent to the Paramedics for initial screening. The Gymnast/Athlete will remain stood down until clearance to continue is received from a Medical Doctor.
62
Neck Injuries The policy is dependent on the severity of the injury and as to whether there is any
neurological symptom associated with this in the form of weakness, numbness or other similar sign.
Paramedics will assess severity on-site and decide appropriate action. Each significant neck injury should be screened by a Medical Doctor following the injury and appropriate
X-rays taken to exclude a fracture. The Gymnast/Athlete must be stood down from all gymnastic activity until clearance to continue is received from a Medical Doctor.
Medical Clearance On receipt of the medical clearance document, the Event Manager, in consultation with
the Control Judge (in the situation of a competition or event) or the Club Official/Coach supervising the gymnastic activity (in the situation of training) is the Official authorised
to approve the medical clearance and authorise the resumption of continued gymnastics activity.
