The analysis of different various magazine prices and how genres, layout and content reflects these prices. The three different price groups which will be analyzed will be cheap- free to £1, Medium price- £1.01 to £3.00

and expensive- £3.01+

Cheap- free to £1The cheap magazines which range from being free to £1 are usually very bright and colorful which doesn't really follow a particular colour scheme. This helps them to be eye catching and stand out. These magazines usually advertise their cheap price through a pug which will stand out from the rest of the front cover ad will attract the audience to buy it as it comes at such a cheap price. The layout of the covers are very busy which allows the magazine to look good value for money. These cheap weakly magazines are usually sold in places like supermarkets, service stations and newsagents as these are the places which are easy for the target audience to access in everyday life.

Medium price- £1.01 to £3.00

These are examples of medium priced magazines ranging from £1.01 to £3.00. This includes magazines such as NME and Kerrang which cost £2.20 and are both music magazines which have a similar genre of indie/punk rock. These magazines have a more simple layout and an attractive colour scheme compared to the cheaper magazines which have a busy layout and no particular colour scheme. This is because the medium priced magazines look more professional and attractive which will make the magazines look worth the price. The medium priced magazines are usually sold in supermarkets, service stations and news agents which is very similar to the cheaper magazines which are places that the target audience can easily access everyday.

Expensive- £3.01+These are more expensive magazines which cost £3.01+. The magazine ‘Q’ is sold for £3.50 per issue. This music magazine is more expensive compared the other music magazines such as kerrang and NME. This magazine has a glossy front cover and contains much more content/ pages which is why is cost more. The front cover of these magazines have a simple layout with an appealing colour scheme which is usually darker colours to give it a luxurious atmosphere and have a glossy cover which makes the magazine look sophisticated and professional to reflect the price. These expensive priced magazines are usually distributed every month due to the high amount of content. These magazines can also be found in the same shops as the previous magazines or can also be found online.
