Magazine evaluation

» In media we have been studying print such as magazines and News papers. As a task we were told to create a magazine font cover in Adobe photo shop with the theme of our choice. Our first part of the task was to create a mind map on inspiration 8 on the ideas and choice for the magazine front cover we could do.

Research Project

» After doing the first task I decided to do a Nerd topic based magazine.to do so I researched magazines with the same topic I found SCIFI Now and cult.tv, SCIFI Now is a popular nerd based magazine that is particular recent as Cult.TV is a old short lived magazine from the 80 both gave me great ideas for my own magazine that I took and mad my own. I did a hole power point on both its on my blogger link below.

Magazine setup

» The next task was to plan a setup for the magazine to then which we would copy in a more professional way. In my setup plan I chose to do a main story as the main image and master head and a secondary story that interest me that fitted the topic along with to puffs that also fitted. » Then we finally did our magazine I started by taking a photo of Ben with a blind fold on and a green screen back ground as it’s the main image for The Hidden (the main story). After a bit of editing I removed the green screen using the quick selection tool and added a black death back ground to add a scary aspect to the main image. Once that was done I created a logo for my magazine ‘Declassified’. After adding the title I had to make a secondary story so I used the new Transformers age of extinctions story, I took an image of one of the Dinosaurs featured in the film as the story's main image and place him in side a Circle. Then after I wrote a few puffs on a few story's such as future marvel character and the new doctor who.

» I have learnt a new mechanic to remove green screen easily and efficiently: select, Colour range then you get offered the edit menu making you able to remove the selected peace's

I think that my Magazine front cover stays true to the genre of nerdy comic book style and use all the aspects of a media magazine with master head, main image, poof, secondary story, and several little images. If I was to change anything I would have added a barcode.
