The JobCoaching Edge is the officialsubscription magazine of sportscoach UK and the only UKmagazine dedicated to sportscoaching. It is an authoritativequarterly magazine for UKcoaches and performers,covering topics from grass-roots to elite level. Coachwisewas tasked with revitalising themagazine in order to reflect theexcitement and emotive natureof sport.

The SolutionCoachwise set up, and workedwith, an editorial board thatincluded key staff from sportscoach UK to explore the readershipprofile for the magazine, anddevelop various bespoke designsfor final selection. A number ofnational governing bodies of sportwere also consulted in order tounderstand what their coacheswould find useful and practical.

Working inconjunction with the editorialboard, Coachwise aimed themagazine’s contentpredominately at Level 1 andLevel 2 coaches and developedan authoritative, yet warm,editorial style to meet their needs.

AdvertisingIn order to attract potentialadvertisers, Coachwise alsodeveloped a professional mediapack that contains informationpertinent to advertisers, such asthe philosophy of the magazineand an overview of thereadership, includingdemographic data andcirculation numbers.

The ResultsThe new-look Coaching Edgehas been well received byexisting subscribers and keypartners. According to researchconducted on behalf of sportscoach UK, Coaching Edge nowhas a high level of awarenessamong sports coach UKmembers and partnerorganisations (86% and 87% respectively).

Circulation has increased toover 6000, with Scottish RugbyUnion, Sport Northern Ireland,the Rugby Football Union,British Cycling and EnglishTable Tennis Association takingbulk subscriptions, accountingfor 2700 copies.
