Magic Liquids (Iodine Clock Reaction) Materials: Iodine Solution Vitamin C tablets Starch Powder Hydrogen peroxide Distilled water Procedure: In a bottle, mix 1000 mg of Vitamin C table and 2 oz of water. Mark “vitamin C solution”. In a separate bottle, mix 1 tsp of tincture of iodine and 2 oz of water then put ½ tsp of vitamin C solution. Mark it “solution A”. In another bottle, mix 3 tsp of hydrogen peroxide and ½ tsp starch. Mark “solution B”. Pour solution A to solution B. Continue the pouring action and notice a change. Explanation: Naturally, when iodine is mix with starch a blue substance is formed. In this experiment there are two reactions that occur; Hydrogen peroxide or agua oxinada helps to convert iodide to iodine element. Then when this iodine element reacts with starch it will produce a blue substance. But in this experiment this reaction is delayed because of vitamin C. Vitamin C reacts with iodine making a clear solution then once vitamin C is consumed iodine will have a chance to finally react with starch that will result in a blue solution. LEADER: Donato R. Materials:

Iodine Solution Vitamin C tablets Starch Powder Hydrogen peroxide Distilled water

Procedure:

In a bottle, mix 1000 mg of Vitamin C table and 2 oz of water. Mark “vitamin C solution”.

In a separate bottle, mix 1 tsp of tincture of iodine and 2 oz of water then put ½ tsp of vitamin C solution. Mark it “solution A”.

Explanation:

Naturally, when iodine is mix with starch a blue substance is formed. In this experiment there are two reactions that occur;

Hydrogen peroxide or agua oxinada helps to convert iodide to iodine element.
