Editor’s Corner This is our mega-packed summer issue. Our theme this month is radiance and magnificence; and our contributors sure have risen up to the occasion. Before I get into the nitty-gritty of this issue, I want to take a moment to reflect on my own thoughts on issues that have arisen this month. This has sure been a jammed-packed month in current events around the world; but perhaps the biggest news that swayed many of us this month, and truly brought us to a realization of how short l i fe really is, was the tragic and untimely death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. While he had certain characteristics and eccentricities that many disapproved of, what is undeniable is the incredible, and far-reach he had in his celebrity; and the indelible mark that he has left on our world with his humanitarian efforts, music, and legendary dance-moves. From old to young, the news of his passing caused many to stand sti l l and reflect on their past, and how delicate l i fe truly can be. There is no way that I could not mention such an event that impacted so many across the world, which brought so many individuals together; bridging the gap between continents via such social media outlets as Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday, July 7th; Michael Jackson’s memorial service drew mil l ions of people to TV screens and various web-streams all over the world, fal l ing shy of the record number of viewers for Princess Diana’s funeral. And then, at that poignant moment in t ime, Paris Jackson got up and delivered her heart-wrenching and deeply moving statement. In that moment in t ime, the whole world forgot about Michael Jackson the King of Pop and realized that to this l i t tle girl and her brothers, he was simply “Daddy”. I t is quite amazing how much we think of l i fe when faced with the aspect of death. For a short time, we treat people better, determine to l ive each moment as if i t were our last, and even practice forgiveness; but all too soon, we forget these things as we move forward with our l ives. Those lost, become mere memories. This month, Christine Brooks brings this to l ight in her art icle “Summer Fun”, and we hope that the sentiment she brings forth wil l ring clear. And, that i t wi l l have a lasting effect throughout the summer, and into the months and years that are sti l l left to be discovered. We feature an incredible interview with The Working Inventor, Scott Evans; who truly is an amazing and wonderful person, someone who I am lucky enough to call “friend”. If you are in business, or thinking about getting into business; you definitely want to read this interview and bookmark it to read over and over again. We realize that with the current state of the economy, travel this year may be harder for some readers to accomplish. This month, instead of focusing on a specific travel destination, we’ve brought you several articles on celebrating the summer holidays with your children at home, or within your geographic region. This month is al l about celebrating the wonderful warmth of summer, the l ight which the sun radiates, having fun, laughing, getting out for picnics, the healing art of the Hawaiian Hula, and so much more; and remembering always to f irst and foremost celebrate YOU. Happy Summer! Celebrating your magnificence, Leyla Hur Editor-in-Chief

Step into Your Greatness NOW! Knowing that life is a journey and we encounter obstacles, challenges and limitations on the way, we don't expect a perfectly smooth ride. It seems that some of us are lucky and fortunate but for many, the ride is getting bumpier and bumpier. The cup of woes is overflowing... The question that naturally arises is: how can one stay positive? Most importantly, how does one transcend the negative energy flowing around us, ready to suck us in? Is it possible? Yes, it is. If only you are willing to step into your greatness NOW. Yes, this very moment. All it takes is a decision, a commitment that you will no longer play small, that you will no longer feel hopeless and powerless. All you have to do is "just believe" that you have the power within

you to change your life and of those around you. As you empower yourself and step into your greatness, you will empower others to rise and shine and step into their greatness! We are not a machine. Nor a robot. Nor a supercomputer. We are a masterpiece. Compact, intelligent, self-governing. Perfectly designed and executed. A wonderful creation! We have in our possession, a priceless, powerful and anabolic powerhouse comprising of our body, mind and spirit. Caught in the world wide web of life, we have forgotten who we are and what we are capable of. It 's time to reclaim our true power. STEP INTO YOUR GREATNESS NOW ... in THREE simple steps! Step #1: Respect your body and take care of it

5

"To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear." ~Buddha Our body is truly amazing! Trill ions of cells. Organs. Organ systems. All working in perfect order and unison, coordination, collaboration and balance. Executing a zillion complex and extraordinary functions each day! And it all began with just two teeny-weeny cells? Did you know that our body recreates itself every 5 years, that there is no single old cell in the body at that time? Yet, we hardly see/feel anything out of place? Isn't it remarkable considering all that goes into a product release and upgrade - version control, quality control, design control, program and project management, enhancements, maintenance, delivery, production etc? To think all these take place so seamlessly and effortlessly? There are people who take better care of their cars than they take care of their bodies. Love your body and appreciate all that it does for you to keep you in good health and shape. Step #2: Get out of the box and tap into your intuition Functionally, the mind can be divided into emotional mind, rational mind and intuitive mind. The rational mind allows us to think, reason, use logic, analyze. It helps us concretize an idea or an insight by applying rationale and logic to it, breaking it down into smaller and smaller units. The emotional mind helps us experience the emotion behind a thought. "Intuition is the supra-logic that cuts out all the routine processes of thought and leaps straight from the problem to the answer." ~ Robert Graves If the rational mind is the analyzer, the intuitive mind is the synthesizer. It creates the big picture out of all the small details. It is that sudden flash of insight that makes everything crystal clear - you know it; you believe it and you can feel it with your heart. Logic and rationale come later. Scientists say that we use less than 10% of our mind power. The mind loves to create patterns and rules from our past experiences and stores them in the subconscious. We create this imaginary box and our thinking is limited to what we have chosen to store in this box. "The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have

created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." ~Albert Einstein If Bill Gates stuck to logic and rationale, he would never have dropped out of the prestigious (and highly coveted) Harvard University and there would have been no Microsoft! And if a sixteen-year old Albert Einstein had not wondered what it would be like to travel along a ray of light, we wouldn't have a great scientist and his groundbreaking theories! Get out of the box and tap into your intuition! Because the intuitive mind is the gateway to the spirit, it is anabolic and inspires anabolic thoughts, emotions, actions and results. Step #3: Connect to your spirit and partner with the universe "We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey." ~ Steven Covey Our spirit is our real essence. It is the same spirit that pervades this universe, the Infinite Spirit (some call it Universe, God, Higher Power), the source of all creation. It is the Infinite Source of Wisdom, Intelligence, Will, Creativity, Love and Abundance, an unlimited reservoir of anabolic energy. We are all spiritual beings. Spirituality is not limited to only a privileged few. Neither does being spiritual mean renouncing the world, body or mind. It is staying connected to our core, expressing our true potential and living a life of fun, fulfillment, purpose, peace, love, joy, success and abundance. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." ~ Paulo Coelho The Infinite Spirit has a solution to every problem, has an answer to every question, has an opportunity for every challenge, has the power to turn every stumbling block into a stepping stone - for every aspect of your life, be it business, career, relationships, or life in general. The laws of the universe (and nature) are simple (we have unnecessarily complicated and diluted them over ages), straightforward, fair, unbiased and anabolic. They apply equally to every person on this planet, irrespective of country, color, class, caste, creed, culture, religion, race, gender, age, role, education, qualification, business/organization or profession.

When you connect with your spirit, you are essentially partnering with the universe. The stars and planets align just for you. The words impossible and fear cease to exist... and you can accomplish what you want effortlessly! This week: What thoughts and emotions are you experiencing during and after reading this article? It is common for the rational mind to step in after some time. How long does it take to show up and what does it say? Experience is the greatest teacher. How willing are you to step into your greatness and experiment with it for yourself? Prasanna Gunturi , a Success & Self-Mastery Coach, helps individuals master their inner energy to attract success and wealth, effort lessly, yet at the same time l iving a l i fe of purpose, authentici ty and passion.

Summer, The Chance to Reach Your Potential Summer is here! Well at least it is in the UK, which is a good sign as bad weather summers are usually the norm. With the days being longer and the nights shorter it is nice to have more hours in the day for what we need to do and to ultimately achieve our potential. Are you living fully to your potential? Most people are not. Now that the summer is here and the days are longer, growth is in the air; so why not make the most of this energy and better yourself? What is your potential? To know this we must first know our values; these are our true values and not ones which we may have ‘inherited’ from our parents, teachers and society. The first step to knowing what your potential could be is to know yourself well. Take a few minutes each day to think about what excites you. What do you feel enthused about and would wake up early for? What do you have to drag yourself to and make excuses for not doing? The more you start knowing yourself, the more you will get to know what your values are. For instance, if you feel good when you have no rigid plans; such as no fixed lunch, dinner or breakfast, then one of your values is freedom.

If you feel great when reaching out to someone, to help or network, then your value is connection.

7

When you know your values and start living in accordance with them, you’ll find yourself better placed to be able to realize your potential. You’ll also find that more opportunities come your way due to your happier state. This is the law of attraction in action. Achieving your potential… When you have an idea of what your values and potential could be, start focusing on your mental state. When you keep a positive state of mind, you will be better position to achieving success. Take a few minutes each day to listen to your thoughts; start analyzing them to see whether they are positive or negative in nature. If you notice that your thoughts are negative; such as constant worrying, or to-do lists which are overwhelming and make you nervous and afraid; start imagining them drifting from your mind and slowly begin replacing them with positive ones. While this may not be as easy as it seems, it will take some practice to get control of your mind and your thoughts. Remember that the more positive you are, the better placed you are to strive and reach for your potential. Once you have accomplished a positive mindset, the next step is to start believing in yourself and your abilities to reach the potential within you. Often, our view of ourselves can be marred by limiting or restrictive beliefs which we may have encountered in childhood, and which we have carried into our adult life. They can be locked away deep in our sub-conscious, and we are unaware that certain actions we are doing are restricting ourselves and limiting our potential in life. An example is a child who has been told they are no good at numbers following a school test; as an adult they find themselves struggling with their finances and cannot control their money. They have a deep-seated fear of numbers and anything related to them, including as money. As adults, we must find the link between the limiting belief and the current problem, then

realize responsibility and start disempowering the limiting belief. Using the above example in this exercise; one way to realize and overcome our limitations would be to list all the ways in your life in which you have been good with numbers, money or related instances. Once you have a list, you can start disempowering the belief, and making the belief seem unbelievable. It is important to realize that circumstances change and people grow; what was once true for the child may not be true for the adult. Another way of truly reaching your potential and a great way at the moment is to surround yourself with positive people. Have you noticed that when the sun shines it brings out the best in people? People say hello in the street and take time to walk and enjoy themselves rather than reaching for the car keys. The more positive people are around you, the more likely you are to be positive. The law of attraction again!

Try staying away from people who are negative and who drain

your energy. If you are tired after speaking on the phone to someone complaining about their life, how are you going to keep the ‘get up and go’ mentality needed to reach your potential? You’ll be struggling to win a losing battle.

Are you living fully to your potential?

If you are unable to stay away completely yet, or feel obliged to keep contact with negative people, then limit the time you spend with them. You need to make sure that most of your time is spent towards reaching and achieving your potential. The summer brings out the most in people with the warm weather, sun and smiles. We can take full advantage of this by using the longer hours, growth which is happening in nature, and the positive outlook by people to enhance and achieve our full potential. I would love to hear your comments on this article or things about the summer and your potential or anything else that you would like to share. 7 Reasons Laughter is Excellent Medicine From a little snicker to a side splitting belly laugh, we all know that laughing improves your mood. But can it also improve your health? Many people seem to think it does. In fact, here are 7 reasons laughter is healthy for you: It activates your immune system, increasing the number of natural killer cells (cells that attack viruses and other nasty stuff). It also increases activated T-cells, antibodies and gamma interferon which all help immunity. It decreases stress hormones which can constrict blood flow and impair immune function. Stress is one of the leading causes of illness (and grumpiness) so anything you can do to decrease stress has got to be a good thing! It relaxes your muscles. Yeah I know it doesn't feel that way when you're sides are cramping because you're laughing so hard. But when you laugh the other muscles in your body (the ones not directly involved in laughing) start to relax and after you're done the others catch on and follow suit. It reduces pain. When you're laughing really hard you tend to forget everyday aches and pains. In fact, if you laugh so hard you're crying that often relieves

headaches and sinus congestion, at least temporarily. It can help with respiration, especially if you're laughing really hard. When you're laughing you can't help but empty your lungs, resulting in a type of cleansing effect. It exercises your insides. You know how it feels when you're laughing really hard - like all your insides are jiggling. These muscles don't get worked too often so a good belly laugh is good for your innards (hmm...I wonder when someone will invent a "belly laugh machine" and do an infomercial selling it). It makes you feel good. Feeling good is so important to overall health and well-being. Plus well - it just feels good. So lighten up and laugh a little, your body will love you for it! A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Creating life changes is an art. You must ask believing your mind moves from the thought to the thing. Unless there is first an image in the mind, guess what? There would be nothing for it to move toward. Creating is a mental act and with emotion and focus the power from your subconscious will play upon it and make it productive. The easiest and most obvious way to formulate an idea is to visualize it, to see it in your mind's eye as vividly as it were alive. Remember, you are the builder. A builder visualizes the type of structure he wants. This is a wonderful tool to use while you are waiting to be interviewed for a job. See the interviewer receptive to what you will be saying. Release the picture and go into the office with confidence. You have already reated a positive outcome. c

There is another method you can also use called the Mental

Movie. See yourself acting as though the desire is accomplished. See an imaginary scene and yourself as the actor in the scene. Feel the reality of it all, the victory and satisfaction. Dramatize the mental movie until you feel satisfied that this picture is being conveyed to your subconscious mind. This is a good 'play' to create before falling asleep. With the economy as it is, why not see yourself with a check written out to you for a large sum of money and feel the gratitude and happiness in being the recipient of good fortune.

Another technique is to condense your idea, which is the object of suggestion, to either a brief phrase or word and simply repeat it over and over again hroughout the day. t

Many people need harmony in their environment. As an example, repeat a simple phrase such as, "It is finished in Divine Order" or "I have had enough of this nonsense. It is finished in

Divine Order." You are stating that infinite Intelligence is already operating or has operated in the subconscious and is bringing the much desired adjustment through the principle of harmony. A statement must be said with conviction. Have you had enough of a situation or a person's behavior? Try repeating the phrase silently in your mind or out loud if alone. We create what we believe. If we are not at peace, we may create a fortune but still be inwardly miserable. A deep sense of guilt has a great deal to do as to whether we are happy and feel good about ourselves. Guilt attracts every type of trouble imaginable. When you create, never create a situation that will cause harm to someone else. If you are successful, you will love your work because you are able to express yourself fully. The secret is integrity and creating work that satisfies this interest. To satisfy this quest and be successful living it, it is necessary to correctly use the subconscious part of the mind for your success. Part of your success involves

the ability to see a project, a dream-idea, in its completion. The creative forces of

your subconscious mind are powerful. This holds true for whatever field of action that you desire to experience your ideas. Constantly imagine what it is that you desire. Mentally create the action of the role you desire to be living. You can hold imaginary conversations, gestures and solutions...anything is possible. Dramatize what you desire in your mind so that you are

“Remember, you are the builder…”

10

psychologically fixed into a belief that will materialize. You can use this for a job, selling a home, health, relationships or anything that would benefit your life. It is infinite Intelligence attracting to you what you desire. The deeper currents of the subconscious will work for you and bring everything to you if you know it is so. Focus on the abstract term, success. The idea of success contains all the essential elements of success. When you choose a word or sentence that describes your desire, repeat often with confidence and determination. You are actually compelled to express your subjective beliefs, impressions and convictions. First, you must be clear in your own mind what success means to you. Become imaginative and mentally participate in the reality of the successful state. I know I am being repetitive but that is how learning works for most of us. Make a habit of it. Go to bed feeling successful, satisfied because you are implanting the idea of success in your subconscious part of the mind. Believe it! We are co-creators. Allow yourself to experience the thrill of intention. Yes, honoring yourself and creating good in your life is definitely magical... Do you wonder what comes next? What is your goal here? Why do you do this work? Why are you reading this article? Why do you attend personal growth seminars and workshops? Why do you purchase and buy CD's and DVD's of people inspiring you and coaching you through to the next level? The next level of what? There is a theory that the Egyptians didn't actually finish the pyramids that they left the top, the capstone, off... They knew that they had done a tremendous job and followed mathematical law as best they could but to finish it would have tempted the God's anger. It would have said to the pantheons, "See, we too are perfect" when they believed that only God was perfect.

11

Babylon anyone? Is perfection truly attainable? Or is it the striving for perfection that we love? We tend to place our desires on a pedestal and say, "If I were that, I would be happy/fulfilled/rich/satisfied/relaxed/free." Or better yet, really set yourself apart from your dreams/mission/vision/passion/purpose buy believing that there is ANOTHER seminar/class/workshop/healer you must attend and purchase his/her book/CD/DVD/Download before you can achieve whatever it is you desire. What a bunch of crap. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t pursue knowledge and wisdom and growth... far from it, but seeing yourself as “broken” or “unfinished” or “incomplete” is detrimental to your growth. A “broken” or “unfinished” or “incomplete” vessel cannot contain ANYTHING. Let’s take money for example. If our beliefs are that money provides a freedom we cannot otherwise enjoy... what does Bill Gates long for? Do you believe that you won’t be happy until you’re rich? Truth is you won’t be rich until you are happy. You are - therefore you think. The problem with striving for perfection is that it denotes that we are not perfect, or that perfection is something outside of us that we must obtain. Have you ever noticed human nature needs to put something or someone on a pedestal and

then worship it...only to tear it or them down later because it is unobtainable? There have been many Gurus who fell from grace for being human. You could never be rich until you reveal your "inner millionaire" or never have a truly passionate relationship unless you revealed your "inner passionate lover". You will never attain that which you desire until you reveal the vessel that can become that desire.

Desire is the will pressing outward to become manifest and there has to be a level of understanding, of feeling the capacity to have that which you seek... Otherwise you would not seek it; there would be no frame of reference. Why would you want to be a cow if you had no understanding of what being a cow is? Where did that understanding come from? From your own "inner cow", "inner millionaire", or "inner passionate lover". In a nutshell, stop trying to achieve any state of perfection. Reveal it. The world is not broken and needs to be fixed. The world is perfect and must evolve. Reveal your Guru. Reveal your millionaire. Reveal your passionate lover. Reveal your successful parent.

Reveal your successful businessman. This journey is to become who you truly are. Give up the struggle to be better. When you see perfection in the mirror at every moment, even at your dark times of the soul, you will know that your journey to evolve that perfection is why you attend personal growth seminars and workshops. It is why you purchase and buy CD's and DVD's of people talking to inspire you and coach you through to the next level.

You are perfect. Do you wonder what comes next? Aaron Huey is an internationally known speaker, one of 5 facilitators of the world famous “Predicament”,

Decide to Radiate this Summer Regardless of Your Size Summertime is for easy living. No snow to shovel. No howling winds to brace against. No fields to harvest. It’s when Mother Nature takes a break for living easily herself and I think we should, too. This article is written for the large woman (or the woman who sees herself as too large) with practical tips for self-love and self-acceptance. I’d like to pack a picnic lunch of tasty ideas about the “I” of you – that inner self who knows nothing about bodily size but instead focuses on character traits. A lot of showing off of our bodies happens in the summertime, doesn’t it? Young girls strip down to bikinis and strut themselves on the beach. Shorts and halters and sundresses become the norm. Lucky boys and men get to parade only in

trunks. How do you feel inside of clothing that exposes more of your body? In order to permit yourself not to go through the summer uncomfortably trying to cover up what you don’t like about your appearance, I’d like to take some ideas out of that picnic basket for you to consider about your deservedness:

• Do you deserve to be as comfortable as

everyone else?

• Do you deserve to wear a bathing suit

publically on the beach?

13

• Do you deserve to hear no nasty

comments about your appearance when

you do?

• Do you deserve to dress as you please?

• Should there be different rules for slender

women and for fat women?

• Do you deserve equality? Seriously, DO

you?

Since we are all created equal, then yes, every single one of us deserves to dress comfortably; wear a bathing suit in public; have no nasty comments flung our way; dress as we please; all follow the same rules and live harmoniously under the same equality we see slender women receiving. The magnificence of the individuality called by your name is true of every individual with a name and it has nothing to do with your size. It has only to do with your Be-ing. In order to understand this magnificence, I’d like to encourage you to teach yourself to stop judging by appearances (your own included) and begin to judge by the Divine Stuff from which each one of us is endowed at birth. Inside you, there is a complete set of faculties, abilities and virtues. I personally think it’d be hilarious if God said “Give the fat girl a few less abilities seeing how evil fat is.” Doesn’t it sound ridiculous said like that? Well, ‘all born equal’ is true, so let’s look at what ‘born equal’ means. Every one of us can hear, can see, can touch, can taste, can smell, can reason and can understand. If anyone thinks he cannot enjoy one of these, he has made a mistake and mistakes can be corrected. With each of these faculties I just listed, there comes an ability. With the faculty of hearing, you have the ability to hear. With the faculty of touch you have the ability to feel, and so on for the rest of them. Each of us has a complete set of virtues. Those virtues are wrapped up as tightly as young fiddlehead ferns and have to be unfolded by you through learning to use them. Think back to your childhood and consider your virtue of courage. Has it unfolded more clearly to you since you were in preschool? I would hope so. And it will continue to unfold more of itself as you use it and strengthen it through that use.

At some point, you will know yourself mainly through the degree you have unfolded for each of your virtues and it will no longer be about “What do I look like in a sun dress?” My wish for you is that you become completely comfortable with the inner you and all the wonders of her virtues. Perhaps living through this summer will help you to unfold this sense of comfort. I was once sun bathing at the beach when three, young surfers came out of the water, walked past me and one of them said “Oh look, it’s a beached whale.” I was a lot younger then and a lot smaller than I am now. I’d like to thank those surfers because they created an opportunity to learn how to reason, to dig for the truth about myself, and to exercise forgiveness for their inappropriate stupidity. I wouldn’t wish any of you this experience but it did end up tasting like lemonade, a perfect accompaniment for a summertime picnic.

Finding Your Body's Mind

onscious intent to brush my teeth, member if I did or did not! So even

s a habitual act, a series of movements that ave been recorded in my sensory and kinesthetic memory. This

memory allows me to perform this activity unconsciously. While I am brushing my teeth I can plan my day or be seized by a wild idea

for a new dance or poem. This ability to do one thing and think about another is a wonderful advantage of the human organisms' larger brain. Like all positives though, there is an inherent negative in this advantage. If I am thinking about my idea for a new dance or planning my day while I'm brushing my teeth, I cut myself off from much of the sensory information I am receiving from my movement. The skin, joints and muscles have sensory receptors that telegraph information to my brain about pressure, pain and the position of my body, among other things. These sensory receptors, our proprioceptors, are the internal eyes of the body. They transmit a continuous sensory flow from the movable

There is a universe of silent movement occurring inside us every second. There is no conscious effort to these movements. I do not have to decide to digest my food. If I eat something my digestive system, governed by my brain, takes care of it. In contrast to these involuntary movements are the movements I decide to do, or voluntary movements. Voluntary movement is active; it requires consciousness, intent and will. When I decide to brush my teeth I must first have the intent and the will to perform that activity before I can reach out with my hand to grasp the toothbrush, put toothpaste on the brush and bring it to my mouth.

I can use this wonderful and exquisite sensory system to ecommunicate with body's mind. Let's go back to my teeth brushing. Instead of thinking about my new dance or planning my day, I've tuned into my body and feel a strain in my neck, shoulders and lower back. A common response is "understand these "commands". My body's mind loves remembered sensations and images. Instead of "putting" shoulders down I can call upon a pleasurable sensation of a past movement. I can allow my shoulders to slide down towards my hips. Sliding was one of my favorite childhood activities so it is deeply encoded in my sensory system. My nervous system truly understands that "comm

As I was relaxing in a mellow part of Honolulu called Kaimuki, I had been looking through a local magazine that is all about Hawaii based wellness. There were many different services advertised from hands-on type healing to a combination of east/west herbal and meditation

But it was a happen chance of me passing a small studio where I was taken in by a recognizable rhythm of an Ipu (Hawaiian rhythm instrument) and chanting. As I got closer I was looking at the class from the outside when I was invited in to watch. At first I thought it was a yoga studio because of some literature that I saw on shelves, but I was wrong. As I watched the class, I noticed that most of the people in the class where in the 35+
