Mahaganpati Temple,Ranjangaon The Mahaganapathy temple situated in the Maharashtra is formed by the destroying the demon Tripurasura.The temple was build during the 9 th and 10 th centures. Also there is a room in the base of the temple for keeping the idol of the lord Ganesha.In this temple the lord Ganapathy is placed on a lotus flower with Siddhi and Ridhi on either sides of the idol.Ganesha chaturthi is the famous celebration of this temple. The idol of Ganapathy is also called as the Maha Ganapathy due to the size of the idol.This temple is also called as one of the Ashtavainayakas in Maharashtra.The entrance gate is located on the east of the temple with the keepers Jay and Vijay on either sides.The idol is placed on the lotus with its trunk on its left side.The temple has a speciality that the su n rays will directly fall on the idol of Ganapathy.On the base of this temple have another idol of Ganapathy which is small and as considered as the original idol of the temple having ten trunks and twenty hands. General Information• There is a story behind how the temple is build. It is believed that there lived a

demon called Tripurasur who got blessings from the lord Shiva due to his hard meditation. He got the wish that nobody could harm or kill him but only lord Shiva could only kill him using a single arrow shot at a time. Due to his wish that has been granted by the lord,he began to took advantage of this and started harassing poor Rishi’s and also Gods.Therefore Gods went to lord Shiva and asked him favour.Then lord Shiva thought of killing the demon.He went for the battle but he couldn’t defeat the demon and asked Narad to tell to lord Ganesh.With the help of lord Ganesh,he easily defeated the demon by shooting a single arrow.Then lord Shiva build a temple in the name of ‘Tripurarivade Maha Ganapati’ temple for lord Ganesha.There are celebrations that last for 6 days in the month of Bhadrapad to shashthi or to the sixth day.The temple is open from 5:30 in the morning till 10 at night
