Mahabaleshwar(Satara):

Located about 120 kilometers southwest of Pune and 285 kilometers from Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar (meaning god of great power) is a vast plateau measuring 150 kilometers, bound by valleys on all sides. It reaches a height of 1,439 meters at its highest peak above sea level, known as Wilson or Sunrise Point.

The hill station is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The legendary source of the river is a spout from the mouth of a statue of a cow in the ancient temple of Mahadev in Old Mahabaleshwar.There are various exotic points like Arthurs Seat, Lodwick Point, Kates Point, Needle Hole point, Wilson Point, Connaught Peak, Monkey Point etc.You can also visit Venna Lake for boating. During the monsoon, waterfalls such as Lingmala Falls and Dhobi Falls come alive, adding to the scenic view of the place. You can also enjoy your evenings in the main bazaar in gaming, eating fresh strawberries & lipping delicious ice-creams.

Matheran (Raigad):Matheran (meaning "forest on the forehead of the mountains) is a popular weekend gateway among the urban residents of Maharashtra. Located at an elevation of around 800 meters in the Western Ghats, at around 83kms from Mumbai & 121 kms from Pune, it is the smallest hill station of Maharashtra. The whole excursion of Matheran is filled with a visit to various tourist spots or points like lakes, parks, worship places and a huge racecourse.

One of the smallest but beautiful hill station in Maharashtra.Matheran has places like Alexander Pt, Rambag Pt, Echo Pt, Celia Pt (a waterfall mouth), Panorama Pt, Porcupine Pt, Charlotte Lake and many more to offer to its tourists. Apart from the attractions in the lap of nature, it is the proximity of the region, which makes Matheran the best hill station around Mumbai.
