Welcome to the 24thKelly McGillis ClassicI want to welcome all the teams and
fans to the island and thank all the
team contacts who have organized
their teams. Thanks to everyone who
booked your stay through the IWFFA,
which helps to subsidizes the tourna-
ment! Many thanks to our team owners, officials, advertisers, spon-
sors, volunteers and all who make this event possible!
There are no big corporate sponsors funding this tournament. It is
the Mom & Pop / local businesses who are supporting the tourna-
ment! I ask our teams to patronize the advertisers you see in this
tournament program, because if we didn't have their support, we
could not afford to produce the tournament. Please let them know
you are with the Kelly McGillis Classic!
Kelly McGillis could not attend this year's tournament. She has
asked me to wish everyone well. (She wrote a little note to everyone
found in this program)
Team Panama
We are proud to sponsor, and I would like to give a warm welcome
to, our newest team from Panama the Balboa Academy Lady Drag-
ons! (What a fierce name). There had been much organizing by their
teams representatives: Carlos Donado and head coach Alvaro
Ducreux. They are a junior team, whose girls had to take time off
school, parents had to take time off work, their travel arrangements
and hotel for such a large group was not easy. But, they will be here,
and much appreciation to all the team for all their efforts. What fan-
tastic support from the parents to allow their daughter to travel to
another country in order to compete. This will be the first time
Panama is represented and are proud to host the Lady Dragons. They
will play with IWFFA rules for the first time, so we know the coach
and players have spent extra time preparing for the Kelly McGillis
Classic. From all the members in the IWFFA we truly hope all the
Dragons (Dragon family members included) enjoys themselves here
and that we learn new skills from your style of play. Thank you for
being here.
Team Owner Program
Ever since we initiated the girls divisions in our tournament (1999),
we have sponsored all the local school teams!. Girls and their schools
pay nothing to compete in our Kelly McGillis Classics. We are able
to afford the program by soliciting Team Owners, who financially
support our: Monroe County Schools Girls Flag Football program.
Special thanks to: Pribramsky & company, Blue Heaven Restaurant,
KW Sunrise Rotary in the Conch Republic, Wheatons Automotive
- Key Largo, Key West Handbags and GNO for all their support .
Please read more in our who's who. And we also want to thank the
AQUA Nightclub for sponsoring the local women's team!
We invite our players to coach a girls team and officiate in this
year's tournament!
This tournament is not your ordinary sport competition. In addition
to the games, it's about camaraderie, socializing, using the sport to
teach skills and to practice special skills. How important it is for our
young female athletes to see older female athletes as role models so
they understand they too can take the lead when they get older. In
addition to offering the chance for any player to coach one of the
local girls teams, the tournament encourages players who are also
female officials to step out onto the field when they're not playing
to officiate. The IWFFA has done this for all it's years in our Scan-
dinavian tournaments which has created a healthy and wonderful
competitive environment. Some may think that there is an unfair ad-
vantage to officiating while competing in a tournament... not true.
We offer both Player and Officiating clinics this year, read more in
our program. And for the tournament games, you may sign up to ei-
ther coach a girls team, officiate or both when you are not playing.
The 8th IWFFA World Challenge Game sponsored by Moped Hos-
pital will be played after all the Kelly McGillis Classic Divisional
Championship games are over. This is our most exciting game be-
cause it includes all the teams onto one stage. Last year was special,
because we had one of our players from the girls division: Bethany
Baldwin-Blazetic, 13 yrs old and she has opened the door for anyone
in the girls division to possibly play in the World Challenge Game.
Read more about the Challenge in this program.
2014 IWFFA Sports Girl Award & IWFFA Central America Sports-
woman - we have recognized since 2004 the IWFFA North Ameri-
can Sportswoman award and then added in 2006, the Nordic
Sportswoman award.
This year at our awards will be presented the 2014 IWFFA Sports
Girls & 2014 Latin America Sportswoman. See our website for past
recipients: http://www.iwffa.com/IWFFAsportswomanaward.html
Women should rule their own sport! Women need to control their
own sport. We know what we want. That was the purpose of creating
the IWFFA, so that the women could decide what rules we would
use and how the sport should be governed, in order to ensure quality
flag football for all females. The IWFFA was the first-ever Interna-
tional Women’s Flag Football organization, which grew from the
very first National Women’s Flag Football organization (NWFFA).
The women made it happen. Women have been the frontrunners for
flag football before it was popular. And now it’s more important than
ever for women to unite. If you want to support this effort – sign up
and put your energy into the growth of female flag football.
Check out the list of 2015 IWFFA tournaments - We have added tour-
naments in the USA and abroad and we hope to see your team there,
or yourself as a "loose woman".

Camaraderie- We have spent much time in developing social events
for this tournament. This year the nightly "crazy parties" are fantas-
tic! Every night we have a party/social event which you will enjoy.
Please do not isolate yourself from the other teams. We are here on
the island to enjoy the games and the camaraderie of our peers as
well as to learn good flag football and good sportship. Take advan-
tage for the presence of the players from other countries and across
the U.S. and have a ball!
Since 1995, The National Women's Flag Football Association, which
turned into the International Women's Flag Football Association in
1997 has been working hard to achieve it 's goal: Uniting Female
Flag Football Players around the world. By traveling around the
world, offering clinics, trainings, flag football promotions, we have
taken great strides in creating new teams and leagues and bringing
in existing teams and leagues under our umbrella in order to take
female flag football farther. You should be proud to be a member of
such a fantastic organization that truly has nurtured and helped to
plant the seed for the sports future. I ask you to work with us, support
us and ask any flag football groups you know to join the IWFFA so
that we can become stronger, do more great things around the world
and to finally professionalize our sport.
Now let the games begin!
Sincerely, Diane Beruldsen - President/Founder IWFFA

wonderful opportunity to support the schools, parents
and help to develop such fine female athletes. Schools
from Key West to as far as Key Largo will be competing
in this year's tournament.
Equipment, tournament shirts, full registration and

To afford the school-flag football program, we sought
“Team Owners” who would help to financially fund and
become directly involved with their team. By the time
this program went to print, we gained seven “Team
Owners”. We are grateful to each group and business
who are local "mom and pop" businesses who cared
for the girls and wanted to see them succeed and rep-
resent their school's. Each business will soon join our
“Winners Circle” officially at the girls awards ceremony.

uIWFFA – International Women’s Flag Football
Association
The International Women's Flag Football Association
(IWFFA) is an alliance of girls and women’s flag football
teams, leagues and individual players from around the
world. An organization run by women.
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for all females
regardless of race, nationality, age, economic status or
sexual orientation to enjoy healthy competition, have
fun, develop teamwork skills, learn fair play, good
sportship, standardize rules of the game, create new
teams and unify exiting teams and leagues to help or-
ganize the sport.
Our goal is to promote the educational process, assist
our players through our tournaments, trainings and
promotional tours to build self-esteem, confidence, en-
hance leadership skills to better compete in the busi-
ness and political world to one day have peace and to
professionalize the sport of flag football for women.
We are a central office and support for girls and women's
flag football, rank teams internationally, offer discounts
for equipment and offer education and trainings in re-
gions of the world where the sport does/does not exist.
We also offer scholarship funds to underprivileged teams
so that they may compete in IWFFA tournaments.
uKey West Women’s Flag Football League
(KWWFFL)The KWWFFL started back in ’91 with 3
teams of womenon the island. Not having more com-
petition than that, the league decided to bring teams
to the island for morecompetition which started this
whole tournament thing! The KWWFFL is the only
sports program in Key West, which does not charge any
registration fee, and suppliesteams with equipment
and training. We hope otherwomen’s teams will offer
girls the opportunity to play.

Women’s Flag Football Association as well as the In-
ternational Women’s Flag Football Association. She
has traveled to Europe and introduced the sport in:
Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Belgium and Ger-
many. Today, the IWFFA Nordic Region exists.
Her path is to take women’s flag football to it’s highest
level while unifying women’s and girls flag football
teams and leagues and to have the “women rule their
own sport”!. For Diane, Flag Football is a tool to teach
skills to women so they can use to better compete with
the men in the business and political worlds to have
female influence in world affairs and one day peace.

Scandinavia and our IWFFA tournaments.
uThe Balboa Academy Lady Dragons - come from
Panama. This is the first year the Junior team joins our
Kelly McGillis Classic and also, it is the first time we will
host a team from Panama. Carlos Donado and Alvaro
Dicreux have been the team contacts, arranging the
players, parents and team for the this year's tourna-
ment. The Lady Dragons normally play with a different
set of rules and were willing to adapt to ours, so they
are playing IWFFA rules for the first time. We are truly
excited and honored to host the team and wish for
them to have one of their best flag football experi-
ences ever! The team interviews Friday on our local
radio station WEOW 92.7 FM, between the hours of 8
- 9AM so tune in to listen.
uAlvaro Ducreux - Introduced the girls flag football
at Balboa Academy School in Panama. He will be
coaching the team from Panama: Balboa Academy
Lady Dragons. "Although the game play is slightly dif-
ferent in Panama than the one used for this tourna-
ment the Lady Dragons are up for the challenge and
are looking forward to participate in an international
tournament for the first time".
uThe Lady Dragons
In Panama City Panama, flag football has caught the
attention of many, has changed lives and has filled
many hearts with joy, adrenaline and strength. Balboa
Academy introduced flag football to its sports depart-
ment by coach Alvaro Ducreux in 2011 and opened the
first girl flag football sub 17 team. With just a few girls
trying out, a well packed team developed. The first
seasons weren't the best, however with time dedica-
tion and practice the girls increased their abilities and
techniques to a much higher level. After 3 years of
playing in LIFFF (Liga International Feminina Flag Foot-
11
ball) and training under coach Duki's rules, the Balboa
Academy Dragons started to be recognized, prized and
looked up too. Lady Dragons now win top categories
in their competitions and come home with big smiles
and proud souls.
uValentina Donado - Quarterback for the Balboa
Academy Dragons and one of our writers for the Who's
Who section of this program. "We wanna give a warm
thank to all the supportive parents and coach, also to
Balboa Academy for helping us get this far. "Don't ever
give up on your dreams, they do come true once you
put them in practice".
uIWFFA Documentary: 'History of Women's Flag
Football" - is an on-going project initiated in summer
of 2014 and continues. The purpose of the documen-
tary is defined in it's title. We welcome any person or
group who would like to share their flag football his-
tory. Just contact Diane Beruldsen or anyone at the in-
formation table that you are interested for an
interview and we can film you at the field. We hope to
finish the project in 2-3 years time, as we travel to doc-
ument girls and women's flag football in the: North
American, Latin American and Nordic Regions.
uJoey Schroeder - Proprietor of the Bourbon St. Pub
and New Orleans Guesthouse. Joey has supported the
tournament for years but this year has gone above and
beyond in his assistance with helping us to solicit hous-

GNO – Girls Night Out - Has sup-
ported our girls flag football pro-
gram since 2010
Girls’ Night Out is a women’s net-
working group that started in Key West in October of
2006 by Mary Lou Hoover with a small group of 16

promotes woman-owned and operated businesses.
Each month the group hosts an event at a local restau-

GNO Cougars girls flag football team for each year
since the inception of the "Team Owner" program.

Player Pre Check - Team Line-Up Prior to Game – 10minutes before game timeWe ask teams to come to field 10 minutes before gametime, to line up on side line for player check (belts tight withflags on sides, proper size flags, proper fitting for belt sock-ets to ensure proper pull, non-metal cleats, no jewelry, long finger nails need to be tapped), and roster check. Wewill check to make sure all players are legitimate (we askplayers to carry photo I.D. in their sport’s bags in casethere is question of your identity), and also to make sureshirt numbers match the roster (to aid in world challengeand all star selection). Please do not switch shirt numbersduring tournament. Remember no pockets allowed on
your shorts or sports pants, and you are not allowed totape pockets! If your team feels the opposing team hasan illegitimate player on the field, call time out and tell thehead official who will check the roster. We truly appreciateyour team’s cooperation in making the pregame check runsmooth.

IWFFA World Challenge VIII sponsored by MOPEDHOSPITAL NominationsCurrent record is: International All Stars - 3 vs USA AllStars - 4. We allow teams to nominate players from your and oppos-ing teams for our World Challenge Game. If you have anomination, write on back of score card. Include Name (orshirt number), Team, Position. We also, allow players tonominate themselves, who feel they are All star quality, tosign up. Early Sunday morning, the all star picks will beposted by the info table. You may also check throughoutthe tournament to find out if you have been nominated toplay so you can be ready for the last game of the tourna-ment. Immigrants playing on American teams are invitedto join the International All Star team. The game will befilmed, and shown on our website and IWFFA YOU TUBE. Each team will have maximum of 12 players (so playerswill have to go both ways)
Score BoardsWe have a quadruple system, where we take scores ofgames from both teams, field coordinators and head offi-cial. However, we encourage players to check their scoresthroughout tournament, to multiple-check! They are lo-cated next to information table. Scores can be a decidingfacter in determining ranking of teams for the play-offs.
Game Schedule - Will be posted Thursday night on ourwebsite: IWFFA.COM, after the Captain's meeting at theRegistration. And captins will be handed sheets for thetournament schedule to share with players. We use to posttournament schedule before teams arrived to Key West, but if there were last minute changes at the Captains
meeting (which happens), posting games times previosly, then making changes became too disruptive. For this rea-son, all teams will find out their final tournament scheduleafter the Captains meeting is held.
Chain Gang / Team Schedule – Every team is responsi-ble to hold the chains as scheduled when they are notplaying. We use a chain gang schedule so you can seewhen your team is scheduled. The chain gang schedulewill be given at the registration during captain’s meetingand listed on our tournament web page. Check yourteam’s game times to hold the chains. Penalty for failingto hold chains when your team is scheduled $25 permissed game.
Side LinesTeams are responsible for their sidelines or else they willbe penalized. This includes behavior of their team andtheir fans. 15 yard penalty for unsportlike behavior.
Players registering late – Players who could not attendthe meet & greet and who applied for a: “late registrationat field” should go to the information table to register BE-FORE you play your first game. Show your photo I.D., pickyou your IWFFA membership card. You will then bechecked off on your team roster which our Field Coordi-nators use to check players prior all games. If you are notcleared, and begin your play, you will be deemed an inel-igible player and your team will forfeit the game. Yourmust register before you play! Also, we highly discouragelate registrations and ask for all players and team partici-pants to be present at the Registration Thursday night.
IWFFA Medical Information – Every U.S.A. team is cov-ered for up to $25,000. There is a deductible. If you havean existing medical insurance, our insurance kicks in asyour second insurance. If anyone gets injured during thetournament, you MUST report to us as soon as the injuryoccurs!
Playing against a team with same color shirt - If yourteam is playing against another team with same color, wewill loan pennies for one team to use during that game.Come pick up at information table.
No Switching Shirt Numbers - Some teams have twosets of shirts, so that if they come up against a team withsame color shirt, they use their 2nd set. But, if you switchcolors, make sure you keep same number. You must keepshirt number you have on your roster
NO Soliciting - In order to make our social events suc-cessful, we ask our players to patronage sponsoredIWFFA tournament events (which you can easily see in
our program). Outsiders, who may step onto our turf, andtry to promote their goods, services, and parties outsideof our program, are taking away our opportunity to raisemoney for our organization. Think about the people whohave worked on this event for 24 years! We truly wouldappreciate loyalty from our players and members…..please. Solicitors will be asked to leave if found solicitingon our fields!
Liquor on the field- We strictly enforce the law and pro-hibit consumption of any alcoholic beverages on the publicfield. Violators will be given a summons and asked to leavethe premises if caught drinking alcohol at field.

The World Challenge
The World Challenge was created for various reasons. The main purpose was to give players the opportunityto feel pride, representing their own countries, similar tothe Olympics and to display their talents onto the flag football field. TheWorld Challenge was to allow elite flag football players from the differentdivisions, to join together to compete with and against one another. In2014, the World Challenge had a first, where one of our elite players fromthe girls division: Bethany Baldwin-Blazetic, age 13, joined the U.S.A. allstar team and played at the same level as all the other adult all stars. TheIWFFA World Challenge gives the opportunity for our female athletes to
walk onto the stage and show the world what they have. Todemonstrate their athletic ability, the good spirit of the sport, thepower of team camaraderie, and the power of the female athleti-
cism. The World Challenge is a symbol and the essence of what the International Women'sFlag Football Association is all about.... uniting female flag football players from around theworld. This year's World Challenge will be our 8th annual and is sponsored by Moped Hospital.Sean Duffy, the owner of Moped Hospital, wanted to play a leading role in supporting femaleflag football athletes and the World Challenge Game. We thank Sean and the Moped Hospitalfor the support of this very special competition and you can visit him at the Moped Hospitalstore which repairs, sells and rents mopeds, bicycles and electric cars.
