What are the negative effects of Red Bull?

1) What are the two main

groups in the fourth food

group?

2) What group builds

teeth and blood?

A) Proteins

B) Vitamins

C) Minerals

3) What group helps with

growth and health?

A) Vitamins

B) Carbohydrates

C) Water

1) Did you have plenty of water today? Well, 2/3 of

your body weight is water. Water works to keep

your muscles and skin toned, aids in weight loss,

eliminates toxins and waste from the body and reg-

ulates you body temperature. Water is the first

group in the six essential food groups.

2) The second food group is minerals. Minerals

help to build bones, teeth and blood, and helps the

body use energy. Minerals combine in important

ways in the body. Like calcium in our bones. Each

mineral has a specific role in our body. They also

regulate body processes.

3) The third food group is proteins. Proteins build

and repair cells. They also fight infections and

make your blood strong. These body builders are

made up if amino acids. There are sources of com-

plete proteins. (fish, meat, chicken, eggs , milk and

soy beans). And there are sources of incomplete

proteins. (dried beans, lentil and peas, breads noo-

dles, grains, and cereals). Foods missing different

amino acids can sometimes be combined to pro-

vide the amino acids for a complete protein.

4) The forth food group is vitamins. Vitamins

are essential for growth and health. Their

main function is to facilitate and regulate

body processes. Vitamins are divided into

two main groups, fat soluble and water solu-

ble. Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed along

with fats and can be stored in the body.

They include vitamins A, D, E and K. Water

soluble vitamins include the b-complex vita-

mins and vitamin C. your body cannot man-

ufacture vitamins. You must obtain them

through foods. Vitamins help the body use

food and work properly.

5) The fifth food group is carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates provide energy (calories) for

muscles, nerves and your brain. “Complex”

carbohydrate foods provide calories and

other nutrients. They are also good sources

of fiber, essential for digestion and the pre-

vention of some diseases. “Simple” carbohy-

drate foods provide calories, but not much

else. (That’s why they’re often called “empty

calories. It protects your muscles.

6) The sixth food group is fats. Fats provide

energy, but too much fat can be harmful to

the body. Fats are essential for the absorp-

tion of vitamins A, D, E, and K. Fatty acids

help the body regulate inflammation, blood

pressure, and blood clotting. They are also

used as insulation and cushioning for our

organs.

Eating to many calories can lead to weight gain

General

A calorie is a unit of energy to heat 1 gram of water to 1 degree Celsius. A calorie

equals 4.184 Jules of energy . Every gram of protein and carbs is equal to 4 calories

and a gram of fat is equal to 9 calories.

Isometric exercise is exercise preformed by

the exertion of effort against a resistance that strengthens and tones the muscle without changing the lengths of the muscle fibers. Isometric ex-ercises do not involve very much body movement. CAFFEINE AND YOUR BODY

HOW DOES CAFFEINE NEGATIVELY AFFECT YOU

Caffeine is a stimulant drug. It makes you have

more energy and feel more awake. Caffeine can cause a

lot of problems. Some are headaches, dizziness, high

blood pressure and heart rate, upset stomach and it

also makes it hard to fall and stay asleep. Some people

think that caffeine will help get rid of the effects of

alcohol. It does not help sober a person up. Caffeine is

a very addictive drug. Having an addiction to this drug

can be a bad because an overdose CAN kill you.

During pregnancy a woman should not consume

large amounts of caffeine. It can cause stillbirth,

preterm birth and miscarriages. Consuming caffeine

can more than double the risk of these issues. Also

caffeine “pulls” the water from your body, which can

cause dehydration. Dehydration can also lead to more

headaches.

It’s hard to believe that

something we can’t even

digest can be so good for

us! A higher—fiber diet

Fiber is a plant—derived

carbohydrate that cannot

be digested by humans, so

it passes through your

system relatively intact

and has little to no caloric

value. There are two types

of fiber soluble (dissolves

in water) and insoluble

(does not dissolve in water)

Both play an important

role optimal health and

occur naturally—often

together—in foods such as

whole grains, fruits vegeta-

bles, nuts. seeds and

natural laxative by in-

creasing stool bulk, which

allows stool to pass more

Teenagers should be eat-

With the busy schedule of

an average teen, break-

fast may seem unim-

portant. Teens stay up

late doing homework or

ready in the morning.

Many even think it will

help them lose weight . It

can actually lead to more

weight gain, however,

because teenagers will

get too hungry and not

stop eating after a long

day of school. Statistically

speaking, 17% of the na-

tion’s adolescents are

obese or overweight,

while 36% of 14-18 year

might infer that these are

directly linked. In addition

to the possibility of gain-
