Rob Legato “The art of creating awe”How did the speaker capture the attention of the audience in the intro?

How did the speaker maintain the engagement of the audience throughout the speech ?

The speaker captured the audience first with an introduction filled with humor and consistent visual aspects. Rob throughout his speech had visual clues to keep the audience from only being able to focus their eyes on him.

Rob maintained the audiences attention by simply including them into his presentation. Despite it was “lecture” he engaged the audience like he was having a conversation with all them. He also did this by also trying to make the audience try to figure out the next steps in his presentation, try to figure out his next move.

Rob Legato “The art of creating awe”Which of the TED commandments does the speaker best follow? How / why?

Keep Dreaming Big

Rob kept dreaming big by revealing behind the scenes looks at how he recreated Apollo 13 as well as how he integrated major keystones in Titanic, such as the underwater ships shot which was actually a combination of James Cameron’s footage and a rendered model ships that Rob Legato used to recreate the Titanic’s discovery in the depths.

Fake Apollo 13 footage.Even though no one had actual footage of this sequence. When people see it the feeling they get from seeing his remake makes them feel as though it is real footage.

Showed his true self

Rob Legato didn’t hold anything back when talking about his experience on Apollo 13. Rob shared his struggles as wells as his triumphs with making the film. He struggled with trying to make the actually launch of look. He wanted to use the original footage but people kept having their own interpretation of what was going on in the video. Some saw different camera angles that weren’t , while some astronauts thought the Rob recreation was very inaccurate but also felt like the original footage was fake. So it just goes to show that peoples memories are all different.

Rob Legato “The art of creating awe”Evaluate the speaker in terms of dynamism from 1-5 (highest). What could the speaker have done to increase dynamism?

Based on Rob’s dynamism I would have to rate him a 4 out of 5 only because there were points I felt as though Rob rambled which can be a good thing in some moments however I felt his rambling took him out of the liveliness roll that he may have been before he would start to try to hard. Pushing to hard for reaction from the audience.

Rob Legato “The art of creating awe”Contrast your speaker to Sir Ken Robison

Things they didn’t have in common

Rob didn’t focus much on his thesis or explaining how the mind interrupts the awe moment. While Ken got his humor across as well as educating the audience on his main thesis
