Advisories have been expanded east across northern Suffolk County. TIMING Maximum heat index values will occur between 1pm and 6pm each afternoon. HAZARDS & IMPACTS Heat index values will be highest across northeastern NJ, NYC, interior southern CT and the Lower Hudson Valley. There is an increased risk of heat related illness with prolonged outdoor activity. Nighttime temperatures in the mid to upper 70s in the NY/NJ metro area and around 70 elsewhere. NWS ALERTS Heat Advisory everywhere except southwestern Suffolk County through 8 pm Wednesday. POST-EVENT OUTLOOK The heat is expected to last through Wednesday. A frontal system may provide relief for Thursday. NEXT BRIEFING Tuesday around 6pm unless there are significant changes to the forecast or additional advisories issued.
