Christmas Day Service 7-30am Holy Communion All Welcome.

Majors Creek Bush Fire Brigade.

Even though we have just had some very welcome rain, it is still very important that we

all remain aware of fire safety and the importance of preparing our homes and yards.

Clean out those gutters, remove rubbish and combustible materials lying about the yard.

Have a fire plan ready, discuss whether you will stay or leave in the event of a fire. If

you are going to stay, it is important to assemble the items you will need to defend your

home.

Keep a container handy that has tennis balls in it to block gutters, plenty of buckets that

can be filled with water in the event of a fire. And as we learnt in a Community Fires

safe session, even the humble water pistol is a great tool to put out spot fires in roof

spaces, the same goes for the old fashioned cotton floor mop. Once wet it is great for

putting out spot fires.

Remember during bush fire season you cannot light fires without a permit. And if you

do have permit you MUST stay with that fire until it is safe.

Please report any fires to 000, they will contact Bush Fire Brigade Control and set

things in motion. Don’t waste time “calling the Pub” or friends in the Brigade.

Have safe summer Majors Creek Bush Fire Brigade. Contributed by Chris James

Caution In the winter months extreme caution should be taken when crossing

the Sapling Hill Bridge. Ice on the deck can cause an accident.

Palerang Council has now tarred the deck which will help.

Remember its Give Way on the Majors Creek approaches to the

bridge and also speed restrictions apply in the village.

Gate to Gate Fun Run

To celebrate the completion of the access road to Dargues Gold Mine, Unity Mining

held a Gate to Gate Fun Run on a very pleasant spring Sunday morning. Over 100 peo-

ple participated some running and others just walking along chatting and admiring the

wonderful views towards the village and beyond

Start of the Fun Run at the first hill.

Locals Linda Harrison and Marjorie

Lemin enjoy the walk

Machinery lined up at the mine site

for 2013 in the coming weeks This meeting will be held prior to their

annual Christmas get together. Venue and date not yet decided.

New members are always welcome

Majors Creek Recreation Reserve

Work is nearly complete on our new kitchen. Our grateful thanks to Craig Willoughby

for his time and expertise in completing this project. It has been made possible by a

Government Grant, donation from the Progress Ass and from trust funds.

The next project will be the toilets when funds become available.

The Trust was again nominated for the Regional Achievement and Community Awards,

and although not a winner, was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for recognition of

the Trusts commitment to the community. This certificate if placed on the wall of the

hall along with those from previous years.

To those who regularly help with the mowing of the Recreation Ground. Thank You

Soft fall at the children’s playground needs raking and loosening up as wind has blown it

against the borders. Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated. We must con-

tinue to do this for the safety of our children who use it.

We are presently waiting on confirmation from NSW Trade and Investment Crown

Lands re the appointment of Trust Members for the next five years.

As the Recreation Reserve doesn’t pay rates it wasn’t included in the Trial Waste Col-

lection. Palerang Council was approached and gratefully supplied bins for the trial pe-

riod . After this period the Trust will have to make a submission to Council for the gar-

bage fee to be waived. Users are urged to place all rubbish in the appropriate bins,

Brian McDonald Sec/Tres
