A s a business owner, the expansion of online marketing and advertising to reach people can seem overwhelming. Answering questions like “Where can people find information about my business?” or “How

can I improve my online presence?” can seem like a mountain to climb. BBB is here to help.

As a BBB Accredited Business, your online BBB Business Review provides a one-stop shop for people to learn about your products, services and your BBB Accreditation status. BBB has added new features to your BBB Business Review that will help you take your business to the next level.

Photos & VideosPeople are visual and adding photos and videos on your Business Review engages your potential

customers. Your business should post pictures of their products and storefronts. If you are a service-based organization, consider before and after images. You can also post videos that contain examples of work or a welcome from the owner.

Company DescriptionOne of the most often forgotten about updates on a BBB Business Review is the submission of a

business description. This description gives a snapshot of your business’s products or services. It’s a good idea to include details of any specialty skills for that added competitive advantage.

Request-a-Quote Program Request-a-Quote allows prospective customers to request bids from BBB Accredited Businesses

directly from your Business Review. When people fill out the request, the leads are sent directly to you. Designate a point of contact for this program, and provide an email address that they monitor closely.

New FeaturesProgress ReportThe new Progress Report feature helps you clearly see what needs to be added or updated in your Business Review. Make sure to include details such as the products and services you offer and your website address. A complete profile provides a full picture of your business. The more information you provide, the more informed your potential customer will be when they are looking for your trustworthy business!

Inquiry LocationsThe Inquiry Locator feature shows how many times your BBB Business Review has been viewed and where those people are located. This is a great tool to learn more about who is checking you out. (See Example 1.1)

Live Twitter FeedYour business’s Twitter feed gives current and potential customers unprecedented access to information about promotions, sales, and your company’s culture. An embedded Twitter feed in your BBB Business Review guarantees customers are exposed to your social media presence, a crucial facet of marketing in today’s business environment.

Tips to Keep Your Employees Healthy and Happy

Help your employees keep their New Year’s health resolutions

Fitness ProgramsThe American Heart Association offers resources through its wellness in the workplace initiative, including manuals, presentations and tracking tools. If you want to start smaller, hand out pedometers to each of your employees and offer rewards for those who log the most miles.

Smoking CessationMany companies have designated their offices as smoke-free zones, but there’s more you can do to help your employees stop smoking. Endsmoking.org offers assistance to employers looking to implement such programs.

Healthy EatingImproving nutrition in the workplace can help employees stick to their diets. Make sure your vending machines have healthy options, and limit sugary or fattening treats brought in for office parties or as rewards. You might even offer free water and healthy snacks, while charging for junk food and sodas in the vending machine.

Get InvolvedResearch online social networks for additional ideas about improving healthy practices in the office. Offer discounts to nearby gyms. Many fitness facilities will offer group rates at a reduced price. Provide rewards and incentives for employees who meet their goals.

N ow that the traditional holiday feasts have passed, many employees are returning to work

with thoughts of how they can shed those extra pounds. Helping them along that path will not only show your employees that you care, but can positively affect your bottom line.

A study conducted in 2000 showed that 25 percent of total group health expenditures were due to modifiable risk factors, such as smoking, obesity and alcohol abuse. Since then, the cost of healthcare has steadily increased at a rate far greater than inflation and the rates of preventable chronic disease have continued to rise.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, f itness programs can reduce the cost of employer-provided healthcare 20 to 55 percent.
