Make-Up

• For our music video, we decided upon a vintage 50s retro theme, therefore it is important this is represented through the use of makeup and costume.

• Therefore we researched 50s retro make-up, from doing this we found that bright lipstick was popular amongst 50s icons such as Marylyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

• We decided this should be interpreted into our music video. Therefore we looked through fashion magazines such as Look, New, Glamour and Now. We cut out the pictures of makeup we thought would be suitable for our video and stuck them onto one piece of paper to create a mood board.

• By doing this it created a visual aid which we can use to combine the different make-up styles and create a unique make-up style which is suitable for our music video and creates the image we want in order to express our narrative.

Make-Up

• Chloe and I decided upon using a natural looking make-up style which is typical of 50s make-up. However as our video has a contrasting theme of happiness and sadness, we wanted this to be interpreted through our make-up and therefore have decided upon using a bright red lipstick, as this stands out and is contrasting compared to the rest of the make-up

• Red also foreshadows passion, danger and love which are all themes we want to be represented throughout our video.

Costume

• We wanted our costumes within the music video to be complimenting to the make-up therefore we decided upon vintage style clothing. Therefore to gain an idea of what vintage clothing would be ideal for our music video, we looked at what clothing Lana Del Rey wears within her music videos, then looked up vintage fashion and combined the two, and once again created a mood board in order to get an over all visual idea of what type of clothing our actress will be dressed in.
