Stella McCartney is the daughter of Paul McCartney, who used to be in The Beatles, one of the most famousgroups of the twentieth century. Her parents wanted her to have a normal childhood so she didnt go to aprivate school. Stella never wanted to be a musician like her father. She decided to go to Londons Central StMartins College of Art and Design to study fashion.

She had already worked with Christian Lacroix, who was a famous French fashion designer, when she wasfifteen. She had also spent a few years working in fashion in London. When she left college in 1995, she

showed the public the f irst clothes shed designed.

In 1997, Stella became the top designer at the French fashion house called Chloe. A lot of people thought shewouldnt have got the job if she hadnt been Paul McCartneys daughter and they were quite annoyed about it.However, her first collection for Chloe showed what a good fashion designer she was, and people soonchanged their minds. Chloe also made a lot of money from the collection.

Stella McCartney refuses to work with leather or fur. She even refused to work for Gucci in 2000 because shedidnt want to use leather. However, one year later she went to work for them because she could use her ownmaterials.

In 2003, Stella McCartney married Alasdhair Willis, a magazine writer. Stella is close friends with Madonna andKate Moss, a famous British model. However, she prefers a quiet life. She likes to live in the country and only

goes to parties when she has to.
