Making a Paper Lantern You will need: ! 1 A3/A4 sheet of paper ! Two cardboard discs 12cm diameter ! 1 tealight candle/bike light/ glow stick ! Glue, tape, scissors, ruler ! Paint or coloured pencils Instructions: Along the long edge, cut a 5 cm strip off the top of the paper, fold this in half lengthways and colour. Cut slits about 3cm long into the bottom of the paper, fold them under. Colour the paper on both sides. Bend the paper into a cylinder, using tape to hold it in place. Check that it fits snuggly around a cardboard disc, your base. Glue or tape the slits to the base. Glue a tea light candle to the other cardboard disc. This sits on your base and can be easily removed if you need to replace your tea light. Sticky tape your long strip of paper over the top of the lantern, making a handle.
