• Click on the arrow to see more design themes
•Avoid black or dark background colors•Blue is a good standby•Avoid using to many colors•Always review or test the colors before selecting•Be consistent with design, color, graphics, and style
Selecting and Designing Themes and Colors
• Click on the Colors button to the right of the design themes
• Allows one to customize or select the background colors
Design Theme Color Schemes
• Under “Font” select the desired font from
the drop down menu
• Select your font
Fonts
• Keep simple
Avoid fancy Fonts such as scripts Select Arial, Verdana, or Helvetica
• Do not use more than two Fonts
• Make Font size large enough for audience to read
Good font sizes to use are 24, 28, or 32• Headers or Title slides use 48
SELECTING FONTS
• Select the Font color button on the toolbar.
The color line under the “A” indicates the
Font color selected.
•Click on the drop down arrow to change the color.

• How much text should be on a slide?• Use bullet points-No more than seven• Slides are to support the speaker • Presentation not a written report
Text On Slides
• When choosing images they should relate to the information
• One good image is better than several• Images should be good, not pixilated, out of
focus• Charts and diagrams are useful but keep
them simple

Selecting New Slides
Select New Slide Icon in Upper Left Corner
• Select “Insert” from the menu bar
• Select “Photo” “Photo Browser” (opens in iPhoto library)
• Select Picture from File navigate to desktop and select a
picture
• Clip Art opens clip art library
Several Ways to Insert Pictures
• Select “Command”, “Shift”, and “4” keys• When you see a cross hair reticle• Click and drag your cursor to highlight the
area you want to take a picture of.• Let go of the mouse and you will hear a
camera shutter noise • On the desktop the file will be save as a png
named screenshot with the date and time

• A technique to add visual effects• Do not overuse• Select Animations from the tool bar• Select the effect • Select the text to animate it• Examples of Effects

• Used for visual effect • Used to transition slides • Do not overuse• Examples of Transitions
Transitions
• You are doing a presentation
• Use large pictures to make your point
• List items using bullets
• Use less text, not paragraphs
• Do not over use animations and transitions
Remember
• Have a beginning a middle and an end
• Tell your audience what you are presenting
• Present it
• Summarize it• Do not read the power point slides
