Making concrete cube, concrete prism and concrete cylinder

1) All the mix is placed back into the concrete mixer and mixing is started for another 1

minute

2) A cube no. 100mm is prepared, 1st layer out of 3 is filled with the concrete mix

3) Tamping rod is used and 25 times blow is applied to the 1st layer evenly

4) 2nd and 3rd layer has been filled and 25 blow is applied to each layer

5) The cube mould is then placed aside

6) After that, another 4 cube of no. 100mm, 2 no. 500 x 100 x 100 mm prism and 2 no.150

diameter x 300m height cylinder is filled with concrete mix for 1st layer out three layer

7) The cubes, prisms and cylinders mould is placed on the vibrating table as shown in

FIGURE P.6

8) The moulds containing the mix inside is vibrated and group members holds the mould to

ensure the concrete inside is vibrated uniformly

9) 2nd and 3rd layer is applied and the same process in procedure 23) is carried out

10) The excess part on top of the mould is removed using the hand float

11) The hand tempered concrete cube has been labelled as “WC” and “HT” which is Hand

tempered and is water cured

12) 3 of the cube which is vibrated using vibration table has been labelled as “WC” and

“VT” which is water cured and vibrated

13) The last cube that has been vibrated is labelled as “A” and “VT” which is air cured and

vibrated in vibrating table

14) One of the vibrated prism has been labelled as “A” and “VT” which is air cured and

vibrated and another prism is labelled as “WC” and “VT” which is water cured and

vibrated

15) Two vibrated cylinder has been labelled as “WC” and “VT”

16) All the mould has been left in open air for 24 hours before de-moulding on the next day

17) The equipment has been cleaned and placed back into proper place
