Kungsörs Plast ABIn the mid 1950’s the sensation of a recyclable, durable and cheap material – plastic – quickly spread across the world. Wooden clothes pegs became a thing of the past, and as the company invested in a new injection moulding machine for producing plastic pegs, the transformation of becoming one of the leading plastic manufacturers in the world began. In 1978 the company took on the name Kungsörs Plast AB and began extruding. The first product was a fuel hose for SAAB Motors that was soon followed by many others product, such as a silencer for aluminium masts on sailing boats. In 1996 the company cemented its new strategic direction with the launch of the KPS Petrol Pipe System brand, positioning KPS as a worldwide supplier of petrol piping.

Today, KPS is a market-leading supplier of petrol piping and a subcontractor to various industrial customers. For more than 50 years we have been pioneering plastic technologies, devel-oping the most extensive know-how and experience on the market. Our strong commitment to innovation and product development is still at the very forefront.

With a presence in such diverse markets as Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Slovakia, China and Malaysia, we offer product solutions and support to customers worldwide. Thanks to our high-quality products and genuine dedication to customer service, we are now the preferred partner and piping supplier in the petrol industry.

KPS Petrol Pipe System – a true pioneer in plastic manufacturing

Kungsörs Plast AB is a well-renowned company based in Sweden, with roots stretching more than 450 years back in time. Our long tradition of manufacturing dates back to 1556 when a local sawmill was founded to supply the wood to the Swedish regent Gustav Vasa’s royal manor in Kungsör. By the late 1800’s, a wide array of wooden products was manufactured and 30 years later, wooden clothes pegs was one of our best selling products.

Our products

KPS Petrol Pipe System™ KPS pipes have a unique construction with three layers joined by chemical, molecular bonding. This technology is exclusive to KPS and by avoiding the use of an adhesive agent, as is common on the market, we can guarantee that the layers are inseparable. This results in the most efficient permeation barrier on the market, preventing hydro-carbons from diffusing through the pipe wall. Thanks to our unique liner technology and our dedication to product quality, KPS was in 2005 the first company ever on the market to receive the EN 14125 approval. KPS pipes are also corrosion-free, an important factor in countries where steel pipes still are common on the market. With a 50-year life expectancy and a 30-year product guarantee, the KPS piping system is both cost-efficient and reliable.

KPS Conductive Pipes Our conductive pipes have been specifically developed to address the risks of electrostatic hazards, a problem that oil and fuel companies are becoming increasingly aware of. KPS Conductive Pipes is our biggest and fastest growing product segment, as an increasing number of our customers appreciate the importance of eliminating risks related to static electricity. KPS conductive pipes have many unique advantages. They are designed with a fourth layer, a conductive inner liner that gives the pipes their conductive properties and the lowest

KPS strive to help our customers to make straightforward business decisions by providing you with a thorough and extensive comprehension of the risks of static electricity and of how our products will minimize these risks. We verify compliance by certification and present you with the most suitable product solutions.

The KPS Petrol Pipe System™ is a state-of-the-art product range developed to handle petroleum products, such as liquid fuel in a pipe. KPS has developed a wide range of high quality products, suited for use in potentially explosive environments.

permeation available on the market. As the pipes can be fully grounded to earth, static electricity can safely dissipate to earth, thus completely eliminating any risk related to static discharges and fires caused by static electricity in the pipe. Our conductive pipes are approved to EN 14125 and it is the only petrol pipe system to comply with the EN 13463-1 standard. This standard specifies the basic method and requirements for design, construction, testing and marking of non-electrical equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Secondary contained pipes Both our non-conductive and conductive pipes are available in a secondary contained version. Our double wall pipes offer a solution for extra safety, as an outer, secondary pipe protects the primary pipe. This allows for a leak detection system to be connected to the interstitial space between the two pipes, for further protection and risk prevention. KPS secondary contained system makes way for an effortless and trouble-free installation since the KPS double wall welding sockets are suited for welding both inner and outer pipe together simultaneously. KPS Secondary contained pipes are of course approved to EN 14125.

KPS leak detection unitOur innovative leak detection unit KP 315 Octopus is one of the most recently developed KPS products. The KP 315 Octopus is a simple and low maintenance solution with an easy-to-install technology. The unit contains a temperature sensitive sensor that can detect the presence of liquids and signal any potential leakage. As the KP 315 is a passive leak detection system, much like a normal smoke detector, there are no nitrogen bottles or compressors to be replaced or maintained, making our leak

detection unit virtually maintenance-free. Also, as it is placed in the tank sump and then connected to the double wall pipes, it is possible to retro-fit, i e to be installed at an existing station equipped with secondary contained pipes. The KP 315 Octopus complies with the EN 13160 standard and can be integrated with existing computer systems that measure tank levels.

Tank chambers, fill box and vent stack equipment With its 7 mm glass fibre wall, the KPS tank sump KP TC1400RF is the strongest and most robust tank sump available on the market, and well suited to meet our customers’ tough requirements. Completely in line with our commitment to safety and security, the KPS sumps have a conductive inner layer and lid, which makes it possible to bond the sump with the tank, thus eliminating any risk for static electricity build-up. The KP MC977 manhole cover, produced in fibreglass to meet the industry requirement, is also supplied in a conductive

version that ensures safe bonding and elimination of electro-static hazards. KPS dispenser sump KP DC1200 is made of HDPE and can be delivered with or without the frame. KPS also manufacture pre-assembled fill boxes and vent stacks, and market a range of valves, interlock guards, pressure-vacuum valves, vapour recovery adaptors and overfill prevention devices.

Tools Our tool range facilitates a correct and precise installation and includes welding machines, cutting tools, scrapers, welding fixtures, hole saws etc. In addition, our Laser pointer KP LP01 helps the installer achieve the right angles when installing entry seals in the tank and dispenser chambers.

Test equipment The various test kits supplied by KPS are ideal for all test-ing purposes on installation sites, including vacuum tests of sumps, pressure tests of pipes as well as conductivity tests of conductive pipes.

Approvals

Other approvals KPS comply with are the Swedish Ethanol Approval, as well as several other local type approvals issued by relevant authorities. Our approvals are constantly being updated to meet our customers’ requirements, comply with environmental legislation and codes of practice.

KPS work hard to maintain our position at the forefront of product development in the petrol pipe industry in order to provide the best possible solutions to our customers. We constantly participate in the development of relevant rules and guidelines for our industry, but also strive to develop products that will exceed these and set new, higher stand-ards. It is this long-term commitment to constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible that has rewarded our products with the markets broadest range of approvals.

KPS was the first company on the market to receive the EN 14125 approval. This pan-European standard for petrol piping specifies the properties of thermoplastic and flexible metal pipe work for underground installation at petrol filling stations. The standard particularly sharpened the demands and requirements on permeation. In 2008 France became the first country to adopt the EN 14125 standard as a mandatory requirement, and more and more European countries are looking to incorporate this standard in their local regulations.
