CARCROSS / TAGISH FIRST NATIONAs a self-governing first nation with complete controlover its own destiny, Carcross / Tagish First Nation(C/TFN) is looking for ways to advance the businesspotential that exists in the Carcross and Tagishregions.
The Carcross / Tagish Management Corporation(C/TMC) is the economic development branch ofC/TFN and therefore acts on behalf of the C/TFN andits citizens in the areas of business development andeconomic sustainability

Opportunity is creating the circumstances for making the potential happen and the Carcross / Tagish Management Corp (C/TMC) is doing just that, investing in core resources and infrastructure to make it’s vision a reality.

VISION:To build a private sector economy in Carcross and Tagish that will create a sustainable flow of job and business opportunities for the community, our citizens and the region.
GOAL:To ensure that our citizens will become increasingly self-sufficient and be able to reinvest its earnings in social, health, recreational and educational services in our community.
FOCUS: Create eco-business activities that are:
1. respectful to our people, their traditions and culture;2. respectful of the environment; and 3. suited to the strength of the people and the region.

Video of the Tiny Houses Carpentry Training Project. It took placein 2014 in the town of Carcross, Yukon. It was done in partnershipwith many government and non-government organizations.
Tiny Houses Carpentry Apprenticeship Pilot Project
Our Success Happened Together:
We addressed high rates of unemployment, while improving housing availability in the community and created employment and training opportunities in the skilled trades.
Further to this, the program built in success by providing social supports to encourage life skills and team-building.
The homes are now occupied by C/TFN citizens.

The C/TFN Learning Centre
Vision: To create modern public infrastructure that will help create jobs while building a strong foundation for a sustainable economic future.
Goals:
To be a central gathering place for the community and provide a number of community services to C/TFN citizens.
To benefit the local community by creating jobs, promoting skill development and supporting economic growth.
To continue the training and employment of the apprentices from the “Tiny Homes – Big Dreams” project to ensure continued personal and professional development.

Community Landscaping ProgramIn addition to local employment and career advancement for the Tiny Home – Big Dream apprentices, and 6 month landscaping design, installation and maintenance training program took place in summer 2017. Landscaping Team: 15+ Community Members!

Northern Energy Security: Montana Mountain Wind Power
Vision: To increase access to alternative green energy resources and communications capacity in Yukon.
Goals:To ensure energy security for future generations of Carcross / Tagish First Nation citizens and all Yukoners.
To create increased regional connectivity of the grid and provide security through fibre optic line redundancy.
To develop short and long-term skilled local employment and training opportunities.

CURRENT PROJECT STATUS:
The project at present is in the pre-development stage.
Initial wind measurements have been undertaken with masts approximately 15m tall at Grey Ridge near to proposed Montana Mountain site.
This data has provided good insight into the nature of the wind resource in this area and suggests that a wind resource exist at the higher locations near Carcross, allowing for the development of a commercially viable wind project.

VISION:To support community wellness, healing and reconciliation by completing the reclamation of the Chooutla Residential School and area.

GOALS:To use traditional knowledge and innovative modern technology - with residential school survivors and their families, youth and all Carcross / Tagish community members -to reclaim the Chooutla Residential School grounds.
