You can opt to schedule your move on your own via Move.mil: Select the link for first time users Select your spouse’s branch of service Create your DPS account Schedule your move online via the Defense Personal Property System Eligible surviving family members can remain in government housing or receive a housing allowance for up to 365 days You are entitled to the following benefits: Storage of household goods Travel allowances Per diem 2 Take inventory of your belongings. Include as much information in your inventory as possible: Item names and descriptions Condition Number of items (if a set) Serial number Receipts or value Picture (if possible) Store your inventory in a safe place, like the cloud or a safe deposit box. 3 File claims for your travel. Find claim-filing information and forms under the Defense Travel System. Visit the Defense Travel Management Office website to find the most recent per diem rates.
